Image of the day.

Courtesy of Captain Cartoon:

I've drawn nearly 35,000 caricatures, the vast majority of them children — and many from the northeast! Through my vast experience interacting with these angels, I feel a huge sense of loss over the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The 11" x 14" black and white original artwork, shown at left, will either be donated to a sanctioned organization directly associated with the victims' families, or submitted for auction with all proceeds going to the families. As details emerge and it becomes clearer as to where to send it, that decision will be made.

Along with countless millions of people from around the world, I continue to grieve over this monumental "someone's just crossed the line" travesty, and pray for the victims and their families, for whom December 14, 2012 began a "neverending story" of tragic proportion, and for us all - especially for our children.

I often wish I had the talent to express my emotion in such an artistic manner.

I am touched both by the illustration and this artist's selfless desire to support the heartbroken families in Newtown, Connecticut.

As much as Joe Scarborough gets on my last nerve, he made another great point this morning. Paraphrasing, this is a new century/new era....if the Republicans want to become the party of glocks, clips, and bushmasters, then they deserve to go the wsy of the Whigs.

    ENOUGH!

Today, Anonymous scored several more successes: godhatesfags.com, the website of WBC, went down, possibly as a result of DDoS attacks by anonymous members. Other high-profile hackers have joined in, such as @cosmothegod, who hijacked the personal Twitter account of WBC spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper and retweeted several posts about his victory. Anonymous’s official Twitter account also claims that its members managed to change Phelps-Roper’s desktop background to gay porn, uncovered alleged social security numbers of key WBC members through the doxing process, and successfully filed for a death certificate for Phelps-Roper. The group has since tweeted out the alleged hotel where WBC members were staying and offered an IRC channel specifically to talk about its #OpWBC movement.

For a brief time, it seemed as though WBC and Anonymous might come to blows at the vigil. A hashtag, #occupynewtown, suggested that if WBC showed up to the vigil, Anonymous members and supporters should form a human wall separating the WBC picketers from the families mourning the losses. Fortunately for all involved, it appears the picket didn’t come to pass. No official word on whether the classic pizza-ordering tactic happened either.

This and Uncle Sam holding the tiny body of a child asking "Why?" are the most gut-wrenching.

I like how it's going around now that all these folks were / are so riled up about four adults being killed in a violent conflict area of a hostile region (Benghazi) but not a peep about 20 children still in baby teeth being cut down by an American with legal access to multiple weapons in what is ostensibly the most safest haven in the country, an elementary school.

  6. This illustrates one of the thoughts going through my head on Friday.

Parents returning home, only to see already wrapped gifts with their dead child's name under the tree.

Or opening the closet to find the unwrapped toys they had already purchased for a child that will no longer be able to play with them.

    The little constant reminders.

Finding their clothes while folding the laundry.

Forgotten photos when downloading the camera.

The constant reminder, as if there needs to be one, of someone forever absent.

That every time Christmas approaches, for the rest of their lives, they will relive this.

  7. can't stop crying. the picture is amazing. I hope these families can find some small measure of peace knowing how many are grieving with them. I don't know how they will ever recover.
