"Sure I'm a moron. but I'm a moron with a vision." |
The other day we mentioned that Glenn Beck intends to "go Galt" (Inspired by "Galt's Gulch," Ayn Rand's utopian community in Atlas Shrugged.) with a new effort called "The American Dream Labs" which he is building with the intention of revolutionizing everything from technology to education to agriculture to entertainment and even creating new forms of energy.
On his program last night, Beck revealed that his intention to "go Galt" is quite literal, unveiling grandiose plans to create an entirely self-sustaining community called Independence Park that will provide its own food and energy, produce television and film content, host research and development, serve as a marketplace for products and ideas, while also housing a theme park and serving as a residential community.
At the center - in the middle of the lake that is itself larger than all of Disney Land - Beck (with the help of David Barton) will create a massive "national archive"/learning center where people can send their children to be "deprogrammed" and elected officials can come to learn "the truth.." All for a mere $2 billion.
Whoa Nelly, somebody sure has been screwing the Becks' medications again.
Two billion dollars? I don't think Beck could raise enough money to even purchase the land much less enough to build his Tea Party Disneyland. (In his version Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy are not allowed in due to their unfortunate skin color.)
This is like that Creationist Museum in Kentucky, only this one is designed to lie to our children about history instead of science.
And let me just say that if he WERE able to build some version of this Six Flags over Stupidity, that ANY parent who sent their child there for an "education" should have their name immediately sent to social services so the child can be removed from their home before they make it too stupid to feed itself.
On the other hand I think the Palin family ought to buy a condo there and move out of Alaska immediately. They can teach the sex education courses.
Love it!!

Different!!!! ROFL
He'll raise the money! From Mormons!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, does Jim Jones and Jonestown come to mind?
ReplyDeleteThere will be Kool-Aid! Ah, the Circle Of... uh...
DeleteJonestown came to my mind also. Maybe they can get a good deal buying the "slightly used" compound.
DeleteMe too. I'm planning to build such a complex too. I don't have funding or a location yet, but I love to talk about it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Mr. Beck realizes there is already a place named Independence Park in the Dallas/FW area, which is where I presume he will build this project since I heard he is moving to Dallas.
ReplyDeleteIt is located in Trophy Club, TX, an upscale suburb of Dallas. Independence Park is a part of Trophy Club and is a 10-acre sports facility.
In his children's deprogramming facility, does anyone know if he plans on subcontracting that to Marcus Bachmann? Wouldn't surprise me at all.
Game Change just won Golden Globe for Best mini series.
ReplyDeleteJulianne Moore is nominated
Sarah and her followers must be a bunch of unhappy campers right now. Sea4Pee will be an interesting blog this evening! Someone needs to keep the canned goods away from Sarah tonight, and probably tomorrow.
DeleteMoore just won for Game Change!!
ReplyDeleteThe Wasilla Witch will be aiming at the fridge!!
Dudes, Sarah's bad week is continuing. Game Change won for Best Mini-Series and the dude who accepted the award made a really good joke about her and Julianne Moore just won!
ReplyDeleteI wish him nothing but failure, ill health, and that he die a pauper and leave his heirs with a shitload of debt. UnAmerican bastard!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not listening to the entire spiel by this certified idiot, but did anyone hear the man mention shuffleboard? It ain't any kind of senior center if it don't have shuffleboard. Beck is after some retirement accounts.
ReplyDeleteTwo billion dollars? What kind of fool would trust Bevk with this type of project? When has he EVER done any type of major development? I think Donald Jerkoff Trump has been whispering in his ear about how to get a good cut off the top of a project that's DOA before the blueprint dries.
All salesmanship and No Risk to the seller. A shill's wet dream here.
You know he's raking it in with all those gold coins he invested in...er, his viewers invested in and he got his rake off from. I guess that's probably more accurate.
DeletePalin can teach her version of Paul Revere's ride at Beck's relearning center. She and Todd can return to their "educating America" tour and family (not) vacation on someone else's dollar. Don't forget Bristol heading up the fitness and nutrition department with support staff of plastic surgeons.
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered what would happen if a bunch of incredibly wealthy people really did "go Galt" and create a community of ONLY rich folks.
ReplyDeleteNo one to... clean or do laundry, mow the lawn, maintain the equipment. No laborers - ONLY rich people.
(They would be at each other's throats before the week was out.)
See... the problem with (and dirty little secret of) the whole Ayn Rand economic philosophy is:
...it only works if there is slavery.
From your mouth to god's ear.

O/T but I just have to say I loved when Julianne Moore thanked Tina Fey and Katie Couric at the end of her acceptance speech. Ha! A total jab at Granny Grifter.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!
Me too! My husband, who always hate my glee/hate for SP, just couldn't understand my total glee here, knowing that it may drive SP over the edge/cliff/whatever :)
Delete'Game Change' Wins At Golden Globes For Best Miniseries Or TV Movie 2013
ReplyDelete"Game Change" won at the Golden Globes for Best Miniseries or TV Movie. The HBO movie took home the award at the 2013 ceremony on Sunday, January 13.
"Game Change" beat out "The Girl," "Hatfields & McCoys," "The Hour" and "Political Animals" for the top honor. The HBO movie, based on the book of the same name about the 2008 election, won big at the 2012 Emmys, taking home the awards for Best Miniseries or Movie and Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin), among others.

Ed Harris won Golden Globe for Game Change.
ReplyDeleteMark Halperin's head is expanding again and will be painful on Morning Joe on Monday. His arrogance will be over the top
This is just another of his outlandish stunts to promote himself. He has no chance of building anything close to costing $2 billion dollars unless he has several very, very rich partners. Beck also doesn't have enough fans to support a project of this kind, especially since most of his supporters are older and will be dead before he even starts to build this. This whole idea of Beck's will be gone after he thinks he has gotten as much publicity as he can. Then it will just fade quietly away.
ReplyDeleteBeck must be losing follower's, and needs something like this to help him sound as if he is more successful than he really is.
Julianne Moore stopped briefly on the red carpet ahead of the Golden Globes to talk about playing Sarah Palin in "Game Change," the HBO film chronicling John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign.
ReplyDelete"I had a tremendous amount of trepidation," she said. "When you're doing something on someone so well known in the news, it's a big hurdle to get over. But we worked really hard and and did a lot of research to be as accurate as possible."
Ed Harris wins Best Supporting Actor for playing John McCain in "Game Change."
How much you want to bet Sarah will use "trepidation" in her next screech?
DeleteIt won't be long until Beck ends up in a concrete bunker with only a spreadsheet for company.
ReplyDeleteHe better watch who he fleces......not everyone is a willing mark................
ReplyDeleteTom Monaghan, billionaire founder of Domino's Pizza has already done some of this. He started a "university" in I think, Michigan. That died or he got out of it. I can't remember which. He then started a city in Florida that required you to live up to his moral agenda or you got kicked out. It was an extreme agenda you had to sign on to in order to move in. Now he's suing over the contraception clause in the new health care law. Looks like he claims the law will require compliance from Domino's and would thereby compromise his religious scruples. Only thing is, some years ago he claimed he divested himself of Domino's so has no more interests in that business. Seems like that was about the time he lost a lawsuit over his quick delivery rule that killed people. He has no scruples whatsoever. There is a lot out there about him. He's worse than Beck because he's managed not to look quite so visibly crazy. He also keeps a lower profile.

ReplyDeletehttp://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/patriotic-group-build-armed-defensible-neighborhood-fortress
ReplyDelete"The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."
According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."
Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:
Patriotism
Pride in American Exceptionalism
Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.
Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."
Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated."
uff da.
May they enjoy their life INSIDE their armed camp! Also, their children may never leave to bring this insanity outside to the rest of thinking Americans.
Deletehee hee hee. Minding their own business, until the first kid walks onto a neighbor's lawn to retrieve a ball and the cranky oldman creams at them to 'Get of the Lawn!!!!!" and either the kid's parent or the cranky old man opens fire with that "icon."
DeleteGlenn Beck us a _____.
ReplyDeletea. Shill for hire for unethical companies.
b. Con artist who sells fear-based solutions to ill-educated and low-information persons as well as senior citizens.
c. Purveyor of lies and false propaganda that is ideologically-driven.
d. Mormon.
e. All of the above.
The correct answer is... e. All of the above!!!
Next time I'll just say "pond scum", which is all-inclusive. I wasn't sure if it covered the Mormon part, too. Otherwise, it might have looked like I was describing The Quitter herself. Just sayin'.
you forgot drunk ad addict and mentally ill.
DeleteIs this the Glen Beck's right wing Christian version of a Pakistani madrasa?
ReplyDeleteBeck's a Mormon!
DeleteAnd a Moron.
DeleteRetreating to a self-sustaining compound is written in the Mormon history books. That's what Utah is.
DeleteLooks like Sarah Palin days of fleecing the uninformed is coming to an end. Sarah needs to come up with a new scam.
ReplyDeleteThe same with Bristol.
They will find new scams and they will find rich backers. Also, too, why would they stop fleecing the poor suckers now? They need their money more than ever.
DeleteSix Flags Over Stupidity...
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!
What happened to Jim and Tammy's theme park? The last I saw there were pictures of it in ruin. Has it been purchased and restored?
DeleteWhat cracks me up is the self-sustainable - communal theme this enclave evokes. These self same ideals - renewable energy and socialism type government - have been so vocally reviled by Beck when it applied to the U.S. government.
ReplyDeleteThe irony is so sweet.
But it's all ok when HE is in charge. What a narcissistic blowhard he is!
DeleteAnd FINALLY, Glenno has gone off the side.. This time, maybe to the great pine-cone ripper in the sky. Living in Texas with Perry and his gang of moon-shiners and Klan thugs has taken the last strand of rational, human life force OUT of this shell.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine being a part of his immediate family? His children? His family lineage?
Hackdom has been redefined.
Here are some of Thomas Monaghan's activities. He founded the Thomas More Law Center. Its mission is to counteract the ACLU and other civil rights organizations. He is reputed to belong to Opus Dei, an ultraconservative and controversial Catholic organization. He contributes heavily to right wing causes and political campaigns, mostly under the radar. Bain Capital invested in Domino's when Monaghan professed to get out of that business. It's the same business he now claims as his as he sues the Federal Government over required contraceptive care. I think this guy is more of a threat than Glenn Beck. Beck has become a joke, more or less, and visible. This guy isn't. I think there are more like him out there. He has the same bunker mentality.

Excellent information, thank you.
DeleteBristol the Sex Pistol will teach "abstinence" and family planning. Also too she will be in charge of the Acting and Dancing Dept.
ReplyDeleteI always have to wonder whether any of these people have even bothered to read Ayn Rand. If they had it might just occur to them that corporation-mandated consignment of one's intellectual property would have caused John Galt to slam the door in the faces of 1) those willing to sign such an agreement as well as 2) anyone asking for one.
ReplyDeleteThat corporations are legal constructs with no single person willing to accept responsibility for failure might have also been a sticking point for her. Don't even get me started on her absolute hatred of anything done "by committee" which is exactly how most corporations are run.
Although this last one might be a stretch it also seems that any person or corporation willing to ruin an environment that, in turn, affects others might also not be welcome in Galt's little utopia as this would require asking someone else to live for the destroyer's sake.
