Perhaps the most remarkable moment from yesterday's inauguration.
Courtesy of MSNBC:
Perhaps the most remarkable moment from today’s inauguration was an unscripted one. After delivering his speech, President Obama was leaving the dais and heading into the Capitol building when he stopped, turned around, and gazed out at the scene of people gathered on the Mall, a wistful smile on his face.
“I want to look out one more time,” the president said to someone standing near him, “because I’m not going to see this again.”
Hard to blame him for wanting to soak that in, don't you think?
Below is a gif of the President stealing a kiss from his wife as his two girls tease what other, You know like a perfectly normal family NOT having the head of their household sworn in as the most powerful man in the country.
I was thinking yesterday that this may be one of the most normal families to occupy the White House in decades. The Right Wing keeps trying to suggest that the President is "other" than us, but to me he, and his family, seem just as goofy, playful, and loving as the rest of us.
By the way I love that look that Michelle shoots at the girls after her smooch.

I loved that moment when the president looked back over the enormous crowd. Also notice how Mrs. Robinson notices what he has just said and she looks back as well. I wonder if she was thinking what I was thinking, that I want President Obama to remain safe throughout his second term and I want him to keep in mind that the country supports him whatever the media says or does.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
The media lies so much. They deny his accomplishments. They distort and lie. They do not talk about all he has accomplished. The media is a national disgrace.
DeleteBeaglemom, this wistful sentence gave once again a sense of the essence man. He was not gloating, but reflective, as he was a number of times during the whole ceremony. He seems to have the ability to still himself, to "go within" even when surrounded by distractions.
DeleteThis is a strength that few can muster. I share your well wishes for him and his family. Peace...
They are such a gorgeous couple!

LOL..Malia jumps in from of the camera as Sasha films the kiss. Cute. Such wonderful girls.
ReplyDeleteYou need to watch the video. Sasha tells Michelle she wants a picture of them kissing. She tells President Obama, who is busy on his phone. He gives her a quick peck, Michelle knows Sash probably missed it and asks her. They take another, Malia photobombs it,but the parents don't notice what she did (that's the shot you got). They take another, Obama misses Michelle's lips and Sasha misses the pic again. Obama get's frustrated. Sasha finally gets the shot. Michelle makes Obama kiss her hand, he distractedly does so. It was awesome!!! I'm going to train my husband to do that!
ReplyDeleteI thought Michelle was wiping lipstick of his face with her hand.
DeleteJust a REMARKABLE day start to finish, and how wonderful to have "first children" that are courteous and respectful. A BEAUTIFUL family inside and out.

Thanks for posting that...I really enjoyed it. The two girls are beautiful and so adorable.
DeletePresident Obama addressed the attendees at his first ball of the night, the Commander-in-Chief's Ball, then shared a dance with his wife Michelle Obama to a performance by Jennifer Hudson. The couple also let two military service-people cut in for a dance.

So nice. And so normal. The President and family do behave like a normal family, and I'm sure First Lady Michelle had to remind the girls before the inauguration, now behave and don't act out! Yes the look she gives them after is cute and I recollect giving those eyes to my kids.
ReplyDeleteThose girls would not have to be reminded not to act out, they are very behaved girls.
DeleteGORGEOUS!

I was watching the coverage on MSNBC last evening and really enjoyed watching the festivities. During a commercial I switched over to Faux (Hannity was on) just to see how they were covering it. They weren't. It was just another day of fear mongering. It's so sad that they're viewers go through life scared of their own shadows. How awful to live like that. But all they need to do is turn the hate off and life looks much better!!!
ReplyDeleteThe best one is the Cspan one of President Obama saying he wants to take one last look at the crowd. You can just see in his face the sense of accomplishment he has in what he and his folks have done. Goose bumps, I tell ya.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin take a look at how a 'RILL' American Family acts in public. Genuine happiness is not Faked. The Obama daughters aren't verbally attacking
ReplyDeletethose who have opposing views. And they don't HATE Teachers like your Wasillabilly Family does. You have exposed your ignorance and your Family's Lack of Education to ALL of America. Your Lack of Parenting skills is apparent.
He's a Mensch, a true person, who sees himself, standing on a pedestal, trying to live the experience.
ReplyDeleteWhen Obama paused to take in the crowd I thought about the sense of responsibility that all the people gathered are counting on the presidemt to chart a course and steer safely for citizens.
ReplyDeleteObama looked moved, pleased amd serious gazing doen the mall.
Maybe he was overcome despite blatant lies, racial tainting etc that he, mixed race truly did pursue the American dream and opportunities. He did as taught, as his wife, ahainst odds and they sincerely want that for others.
Exactly. Compare that to "she who will NEVER be," who would have thought, "ME! ME! ME!"
DeleteUhh Michelle is not "shooting a look". That insinuates the children are goofing off which is inaccurate.
ReplyDeleteThat moment was one of my all time favorites! It speaks to his character.
ReplyDeleteOT LOD just said that Wayne La Pierre is going to make a statement from Las Vegas in reference to President Obama's Inauguration Speech.
Gee, I wonder what got his 'roids inflamed?
Oh this is going to be rich!! lol
