This year's Terri's Day Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul located at 18th Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
The mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput, Archbishop of the Diocese of Philadelphia, beginning at 5:00 p.m. All are invited to attend.
Apparently afterward there will be a Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network's Award Gala, where if you are interested in sponsorship opportunities just MIGHT include a VIP Meet & Greet with Governor Sarah Palin. Oh boy!
Of course the key word here is "might" since you never know if Palin will be in any shape to appear in public. Exhibit A:
You know I may be out of the loop but I had NO idea there even was such a thing as a Terry Shiavo Day. However I, of course, do remember the fact that her husband wanted to follow her final wishes by taking her off of life support and was fought tooth and nail by her uber religious parents who apparently believe in life after vegetation.
All in all it was incredibly embarrassing, and brought in ALL of the anti-abortion nuts, including Rick Santorum and Tom DeLay.
However WHY anybody associated with this bizarre remembrance would want to present Sarah Palin as a VIP is beyond me.
Wait...vegetative state....embarrassment....right to life brownie points...okay NOW I get it!
Okay all joking aside, this IS pretty low for someone who was once on the Republican Presidential ticket to have fallen. I mean even Rick Santorum is not THIS desperate.

Her parents may have clung to the false hope that there was life in Terri's lifeless body, but poor Terri was declared in a permanent vegetative state. She was brain dead. Sarah would be the last person wanting the government intruding in her personal reproductive decisions, yet she is happy to deny other women to make their own choices.
Sarah Palin is a good choice to address this first time ever event. Terri's parents, since they have used Terri's name to fund their organization. Terri's husband, Michael, has contested their right to exploit her in this way. Here is what Wikipedia wrote about them:

My understanding is Terri did not have AD which complicated the resulting legal battle between her husband and parents. I would suggest everyone has them on file, no matter what your wishes are.

As her body and mind deteriorated after the stroke she was anything but attractive in her fetal position and wizened features. Had she been lucid she would have been anguished by her deteriorating appearance being shown worldwide as that had been paramount in determining her behavior for a great part of her life. She wanted to be slim, attractive and beautiful and died trying to make it so.

I would bet most folks have forgotten about the fiasco that surrounded the last days of schiavo's life, and she sure as hell wouldn't want an endorsement from a quitter fraud to be associated with her name. sad this fraud will latch on to anything that keeps her name in the news.
On their website, the Terri Schivo people chose a photo of Sarah, Todd and Trig. That pretty much says what Sarah's speech will be about, choosing to have Trig despite learning that he would be born with DS. Sarah has given that speech to Right to Life groups who opposed any form of abortion, and want to make sure that the government enforces their wishes. As for government intruding in the rest of their lives, oh, no no no, get big government off my back.

DeleteMy hubby works as a nurse at a Catholic hospital and he said occasionally there are situations where they don't want women to get pregnant for medical reasons....so thy prescribe birth control pills.
His mom worked at the same hospital on an ICU floor...there would be imps when the patient would be past the point of treatment (which is said because it was a NICU) and the doctors would recommend ending treatment and keeping the patient comfortable.
Plus there was that case in AZ where the nun got kicked out of the church for approving an abortion for a mother of four when doctors said she needed one or she would die. The church and hospital would rather have had the woman die and have those kids be motherless. Guh.
Around the time the perverted circus was hanging around Terri Schiavo's nursing home and blocking the entrance for other families who just wanted to visit their own loved ones, over in Texas, a brown-skinned toddler boy with breathing problems was taken off life support against his mother's wishes. So much for the "sanctity of life" when the ones wanting to live aren't pretty white people.
