Yep, I think that is a fair representation of the average customer at a place like that.
I just heard Chris Hayes say on his MSNBC show "Up with Chris Hayes," that statistics show that while there are more and more guns being purchased, they are being purchased by fewer and fewer Americans. That means there is an ever dwindling population of people in this country, with an every growing arsenal of weaponry.
And I would say the majority of them look much like that guy in the photograph.
Gonna be a LONG four years!
Not only is the t-shirt's sentiments offensive, but I would guess that such bon mots pass for true wit down in the holler where Uncle Jim Bob is going to take these additions to his arsenal.
ReplyDeleteAnd if any on of those Federal agents try to close down his still, he's ready for 'em. He's just gonna sit on that rocker, on what's left of his front porch, keeping a lookout for furreners, black people, brown people, yellow people, people who say "hello" instead of "howdy." People who don't drive 1973 Ford pickups. People not related to him, his wife, his cousins, their cousins, or cash-paying customers. He's got his Second Amendment -- that n-r lover, wine-loving, artsy French-speaking Thomas Jefferson wrote it just for the likes of him.
Yesssir, said Jim Bob Hemmings to hisself as he surveyed the latest assault weapons at his local gun show.No background checks! He can take 'em home today and shoot up whoever disrespects him. Them woodchucks better mind their bizness.
That's hilarious, and you've covered more than half of all Americans! Cause that's wot loves it's guns.
Delete“Bizness"? T'ink you mean bid'ness...
DeletePermit me to make a small edit:
Delete"He's just gonna sit on that rocker..."
He's just gonna sit on that rocker, pickin' his nose and fartin', on what's left of his front porch, ...
beautifully done...
DeleteHe's just gonna "set" on his rocker...

They are, of course, most likely to turn those guns on friends and family. I have a feeling it is just evolution at work.
ReplyDeleteGryph, saw this on reddit and thought you might be interested in the Alaska connection: http://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/161s0s/parents_are_threatening_to_have_me_commited/
YEOWEE !!!!!!
DeleteWelcome to nut-bag Hollar.....
Darwin Award in the offing!
DeleteLook, I live in the south, having moved here 20 years ago from California, (I know, WTF was I thinking????) Anyway, people like the 'gentleman' in the photo are all over this place. It's truly frightening.
ReplyDeleteIn my neighborhood, there was a retired, old, white man who put a sign in his front yard (of a very nice house, I might add) "Barack Obama! Your last day is coming!" Next to that was a sign, "FOX News For America!"
My husband, bless his heart, used to be a Republican. Until he met me...(he he he) And he saw the light! Now he's a registered Democrat, voted twice for Obama, once for Kerry, Clinton in '96 etc. etc. But he also owns guns/rifles. Lots of guns/rifles. He probably has at our house at least 10. At his mother's house is probably another 12 or more. Those were his father's and he inherited them. He uses one regularly. Guess what he does with it? He and the neighbor (another Democrat, redneck!) go to the 'turkey shoot.' Shoot at a target and hopefully win a frozen turkey. Or bologna. Whichever.
So between these two men are probably at minimum estimate 30 guns/rifles. Thankfully, these two are responsible gun owners. However...I would be terrified to live anywhere near the man pictured in the photo. Anti-Obama bumper stickers are prevalent around here. And some of them are down-right frightening.
I have broken off all contact with my right-leaning family members......including closing my Facebook........reading the crap that they write only serves to raise my blood pressure......
DeleteI live in northwest Lower Michigan and I'm sure there are more guns/shotguns/rifles/assault weapons, etc. in the area than I would ever want to know about. We have a neighbor, about a block away, with a beautiful waterfront home and a lawn chair in the snowy front yard sporting a big photo of Joseph Stalin. The owner's little joke about President Obama. I'd love to ask the homeowner just how President Obama has shown himself to be like Joseph Stalin in the past four years. These people are simply crazy.
DeleteBeaglemom
12:15 I feel as you do - and, I hate all the religious friends that have come out of the woodwork and put their statements on Facebook. I'm slowly blocking them too.
DeleteMy feeling - they don't act like they are christians - but, they certainly profess it!

*************
I hope you reported the SOB to DHS? Or SS?
You know, I would bet that if someone were to ask the man in the photo just exactly what the president has 'lied' about .... he wouldn't be able to name one thing. Nothing. Zip. Nada.
ReplyDeleteTry Obamacare. Self-employed family of 4. 20 thousand per year. Check to see whose rates are going up. Middle class. Oh! I must be mistaken. We were told by the president that it would make rates cheaper. Since he hasn't lied, the bookkeeper must have made a mistake. By the way she made that mistake on a national scale. Prove me wrong.
DeleteInteresting that this topic is generating ads for guns.
ReplyDeleteGoogle ads works on cookies embedded in the readers' hard drives. If you've been reading about "gun stuff" you're going to see gun ads. My best advice is to utilize and AdBlocker program. You won't be subject to any ads.
DeleteSo everyone isn't getting these? How will Gryphen get credit if I use an ad blocker?
DeleteNot concerned about "credit" people get from ads, I just like to have a clean and fast loading internet experience and AdBlocker makes that happen for me. I can't stand a bunch of crap on my screen, and the blog owner only gets "credit" if you actually click the ad links.
DeleteThe paranoia of gun owners has been building for decades. People used to say that they needed guns to protect their property now they say that they need them to protect themselves from their government. This paranoia has been stoked by the far right media complex with shock radio and Fox news leading the charge. Take a look at how more guns have affected life in Latin America: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/06/sunday-review/more-guns-more-killing.html?_r=0
ReplyDeleteIn the words of our Sain't Sarah: WE WIN, They Lose!
ReplyDeleteI don't care how many guns they buy or what kind of sick bumper sticker they have on their lawn: I aint here to win over their hearts.
just look at this guy, he's either the missing link or the product of a brother/sister union and he can have all the guns he wants...what a country.
ReplyDeleteOT, but I just had to share this.
ReplyDeleteVia a tip from Dependable Renegade, I present to you the Sarah Palin Sexy Shoes 2013 Calendar in all its unearthly glory.

yes, there are plenty of folks dressed like that at gun shows, but it not fair to say that 'its a fair representation' by any means.
ReplyDeleteim very independent in politics. there is no doubt in my mind, if democratic lawmakers and the president push gun control too far and too strong, they will stand to lose seats in congress and the senate and and really toss up the chances of holding the white house. gun culture and peoples right to own firearms goes a lot deeper than a guy wearing an lyin african t-shirt.
12:56 Totally disagree with you! When President Obama gets this manner handled, Dems will NOT lose their seats. There are so many fucking Republicans going bye-bye this next election cycle, that it won't be funny! Don't forget what happened last election cycle. FOX, Limbaugh (extreme right folks) said President Obama would never win and he did so in a landslide!
DeleteThe majority of Americans know that major gun control is required in our country. It's a minority that is buying them up!
this has nothing to do with fox news right wing lemmings convincing themselves that obama was going to lose the last election.
Deleteit is foolish to think that only far right wingers believe in gun ownership. read anon 11:33 above (plus one of the replies by anon 1:00). you can believe what you want, but if the left goes after gun control too severely, gun owners will vote for their rights over party lines. btw who knows if the guy in the photo is even a repub? he might be a democrat that cant stand obama. wouldnt be a first.
Your "gun culture" led a woman with an emotionally disturbed son to think that it was a good idea to keep an assault rifle in the house and teach that son how to use it. "Gun culture" killed those children. "Gun culture" is why people who have been in psychiatric hospitals are allowed to buy guns, which led directly to the VA Tech shooting, which is, to this day, the deadliest mass killing in American history. "Gun culture" is why Eric Harris and Dylan Kiebold were allowed to buy a gun off their friend. "Gun culture" has blood on its hands and its days are numbered!
DeleteYou are right, there are more homes in America that have guns compared to the ones that don't. The whole time he was running for office he said his goal was not to disarm the people but that turned out to be a lie. There will be many seats lost in the next election due to the decisions being made right now.

We knew the US military we're pretty fucked up but in Alaska it look corrupt as hell. Solid doc with tons of links
Isn't Track in the National Guard now...? Here is their dox drop:

People who wear T-shirts like that do so out of hatred and racism. I would bet big bucks that the idiot in the picture doesn't even have a clue about what Obama has been doing for the last 4 years and could not come up with an actual Obama lie. He'd probably just spew the same faux diarrhea like "socialist" and "muslim." Him and people like him are holding our country back with their ignorance, racism, xenophobia, fear and lack of critical thinking. Fuck them all, I wish we could pack them into a couple of states and cut all of them loose.
ReplyDeleteI've been to gun shows, and the guy in the picture is quite like the typical gun show client. Note: you will also see occasional mouselike wives- small, quiet, stringy long hair, pale, trailing along behind.
ReplyDeleteThe only good thing I can say is that they think they are arming themselves and have absolutely no idea that other people, people who disagree with them, are armed as well.
Yeah well lets see how their silly fucking assault rifles stand up to hellfire missles.O Jethro you got your stupid ass blown off boo hoo.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind people advertising their bigotry and hate on a tee shirt, at least they're easily identifiable. It's always the quiet ones, the ticking time bombs waiting to go off, who "pass for normal" that scare the shit out of me.
ReplyDeleteWhile we're talking guns, did anyone see Greta on "This Week"? She says
" we all have to look at ourselves in terms of how our culture has now become to accept violence as an answer to problems, as a solution to problems. We see that on TV and movies all over."
Really? Greta??? Who "hangs out" with someone who's been on tee vee, who advocates "Don't Retreat, Reload!? Who puts gun sites on a congresswoman's district? Not gasp "Rappers" or "movies".
Gwen Ifill gave her a run for her money.

A lot worse was said about our founding fathers when they were organizing for the fight of their lives so people like you could talk ugly about others and express your freedom of speech. Freedom is not free and uninformed people should not vote. Read history. Read the communist manifesto. Substitute key words with the language that is being used by certain people in Washington DC and you will find a similarity that will wake you up, but of course, you will not find any of this information on E! network or MSNBC. When the intent of this leadership is revealed, do not scream for justice. The very people you degrade with your comments are the ones you will be pleading with to defend you. Think of your posterity for a change instead of just yourselves.
ReplyDeleteApproving comments that only agree with your opinion is not freedom of speech. Remember that when you are told your opinion does not matter. Funny how only agreeable comments are posted here.
