The Daily Show's take on the conservative outrage over President Obama's massacre control plan.

I always love it when Jon Stewart demonstrates the Right Wing hypocrisy by playing older video clips of them taking the exact opposite position during the Bush administration. Nicely done.

P.S. By the way I am borrowing the phrase "massacre control" from Lawrence O'Donnell who used it on the Last Word yesterday, because I believe it is more accurate than the term"gun control," in defining what the President is really addressing with his plan.

I totally agree, thank goodness we have Jon and Stephen to highlight these idiots using humor cutting to the chase...the outright lies of the GOP. Fox is going off the rails right along with the NRA...and Lawrence's rant on Tom Selleck last night was awesome, can't wait to see how that develops. The real scarey story Rachel has been reporting on is the push for the state electoral college change, to match how they kept the house majority...now that is truly scarey. I think the proof of how much of the Fox fear mongering is working will be clear with the ratings war with MSNBC, which has been growing since the election exposed their lies.
I just wish all this wasn't happening before this weekend...I have such a sick feeling.

What century is the NRA living in? Fox? Wars are done with Drones now, not so much assault weapons.

Look, this is what I think. These right-wing nutjobs (also known as Fox News pundits) and right-wing politicians are feverishly setting up their real agenda: that being their narrative for 2014, 2016.
I can see it now: a Republican running for office, anywhere USA, spouting off about he/she will "stand up for the Second Amendment! I'll protect your right to bear arms! Count and me! Vote for me! I'll work to repeal any and all of Obama's gun laws!"
This is what they did in 2009, they started setting up their narrative - only then it was 'Obamacare.' Well, it didn't win them the White House or control of the Senate, but they used it nevertheless.
If you listen to any of this stuff on Fox News, they all say almost the exact same thing. They get their talking points and repeat them over and over and over. All of them do it.
Stewart is great about showing clips of Fox News pundits and Republican politicians all saying the exact same thing.
    Priceless.

“Oh, ‘Boo hoo, I want a pony, I wanna go to Disneyland, I wanna wake to see another day, boo hoo,’” he quipped. “Grow up! Oh, ‘I want to grow up!’”

As Fox News’ Steve Doocy noted, why aren’t these children writing to the president about cutting spending instead of discussing guns?

“Yeah,” Colbert concurred, “why aren’t kids writing to the president about long-term restructuring about government debt?”

Always asking the important questions, that one.

Tomorrow will be one month since Sarah was last seen on Fox.

Can we celebrate with cake and balloons?

G., I know this is sort of off topic, but I wanted to share this article. Veronique Pozner is one of the mothers of a slain child at Sandy Hook ES. The article describes her son at his funeral and how she wanted CT Governor Malloy to see the damage inflicted upon him. It's not a read for the more sensitive and I'll understand if you don't post my comment:

It's unfortunate that some of these 'no gun control EVER under any circumstances' people didn't have to see what Gov. Malloy and Mrs. Pozner saw. Seeing that sweet child's remains would have haunted them forever.

I read the article and I think that photos of the children and of the adults killed in Newtown should be shown to all members of Congress. It's time that the facts of gun violence should not be sanitized. This, like every previous gun massacre, was a horrible crime. Murders with weapons like the one used recently in Connecticut do not leave precise and tiny entry/wounds in the victims. Members of Congress who still want to make it easy for people to commit such crimes after viewing the photos should be publicly identified so that they can be voted out of office in their next election cycle.

I also thought about photos of these children being shown. I decided it's kind of sick and not how parents would want their children seen. Yet, a picture is worth a thousand words and might impact people who see nothing wrong with a weapon that can mass murder riddling
      Humans with bullets.

I think the term massacare control is appropriate to describe the intention. I think assault weapon should be renamed massacare or mass murder weapon to accurately describe the capability of those weapons.

I wonder how people refer to these high capacity guns who use them for sport.

OT I love the comments at Bristol's blog. She posted an old photo of Trig and Tripp. Here are some of the comments:

This must be one of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I must make a nice print out and frame to display in my house, absolutely beautiful picture of brotherly love!

    Aswww…your two boys together

They are Brothers and Cousins all wraped into one package. A new word they are CusBros is what we should call them. Just remeber this Briston, boys will be boys and someday they will GetCha!

Brotherly Love? Cousins? (How about Uncle and Nephew?) Your two boys. Interesting. Where are Trig's glasses? And why post a photo that was taken some time ago?

There's an interesting picture on her blog from Jan. 4 about her 2013 goals with little sticky notes..."Believe and Achieve" "Live your life" etc., etc. Something a 12-year-old would put up.
But one of them is telling: "Travel!" Now, how many 22-year-old unmarried mothers get to 'travel'? Because I would assume many would be worrying about feeding their children, getting jobs, going to college and taking care of a child..
Of course, we all know Bristol has none of those worries. What a role model. All unmarried 22-year-olds should be living in a mansion, going on TV continually, have no worry about child-care or money..
Yeah, she's a single mother that others should look up to..

Bristol has to travel to stay a step ahead of the agents that want to question her about what she knew and when about her various family members. It will look better for her if she plays it off like she is home schooling Tripp and all those she nannies while traveling. So cool. With the threats she gets she will have a large security force with her. She works so hard and has such a great Bible loving family.

Though I personally love the term "massacre control", because it DOES describe exactly how I feel, But
I don't think the gun fetishists care what label anyone uses, all their hate driven blind eyes see is "The Blaaaah Man is taking away MY goddamned god given constitutional rights!" When they're hyped up on stupidity and blood lust it's impossible to "reason" with them.

Has anyone had a friend who after listening to Fox became paranoid (shift from fear to paranoid) and delusional?

The blatant lies, rhetoric, of Romney's campaign spewed by Fox I fear caused a friend to become nutty. She believes crazy stuff now including the Iraq war did not end. It is scary to hear this formerly rational person parrot what she listens to.
