A map of how those on the Right Wing see the world.

You know this would be funnier if it were less true.

  1. I don't know if this study has been mentioned here at IM yet, but here's a press release issued last week (2/5/13) by Brown University:

Tendency to Fear is a Srong Political Influence

I would have labeled Australia as "Where kangaroos and koalas live". I don't think rightwingers think of Australia as socialist.

Sorry, you got that wrong. It is not AUSTRALIA where Koalas live, they live in AUSTRIA! ;)
(A few years back, I was on a train back from Austria to Switzerland, and behind me were two elderly Americans and a young American woman. She actually asked them, why she hadn't seen any Koalas yet... That's when I finally realized why I had seen all those stickers and T-shirts and other things for sale that said "There are NO Koalas in Austria" ...)

A decade ago, a friend of mine moved from the USA to Austria for a job. She was shipping her household goods over to France on a ship (then by truck to Austria), and she was worried about her prized Navajo rug getting wet. When she asked the shipper, she was told, "Lady, you don't cross any water to get to AUSTRALIA". She didn't know whether to be more worried that 1) the shipper thought her possessions were going to Australia, or 2) the shipper didn't realize the only way to get from the USA to either Austria or Australia is to cross water.

Sorry, Gryph, but I feel I must disagree with this analysis. They simply can't feel that way about those countries because they're too stupid to A.) know they actually exist and b.) refuse to acknowledge the world is ROUND!

Exactly. And if you were a Middle Eastern Muslim, hopefully you would be insulted as well. Or a Hispanic, Asian, ...

The map, unfortunately, is pretty damn representative of the racial bias and dehumanization of 'others' by the GOP, based on their policies since at least 1980. I'd agree with the suggestion of kangaroos for Australia. I'd also say that the typical bagger couldn't label all of the continents, including Australia ("Shit, I didn't know Howareyee was that big!!? Hell, I blieve it's bigger'n Texas.")

If WOMEN could be displayed geographically, it would be represented by (I'm guessing here) 'sluts, stupid bitches, the lesser gender, baby ovens, BC-demanding Ho's, Femi-Nazis, etc.

No one with a brain and the empathy of a normal human being is agreeing with these LABELS. But based on the words and actions of the Republican Party and it's most zealous supporters, it's not hard to decipher their feelings. And you're right... Insulting and Disgusting.

Good satire always has a basis in truth and facts. So much truth here, I can't laugh for crying. Sadly, there ain't gonna be enough room for all of these 'real mericun patriots' inside Glennbeckistan.

Hope everyone opens the map to read it because Customer Support is too funny.

This is supposed to be done in humor...sadly, I'm afraid it is quite representative of how many in America actually view the world, thanks to the "helpful" urging by Fox and Friends.

      Agreed.
Thanks to our $arah who said Africa is a country, and North Korea is our ally, it has become fashionable for the ignoramuses of 'Murka to show their ignorance and be proud of it.

" I don't think rightwingers think of Australia as socialist."

That's only because they don't know that it exists.

Slight odds favoring those who own the Crocodile Dunder DVD set and a set of World Book Encyclopedia. Assuming they made it to almost to the very back of the A-volume... yeah, you're right. They have no clue what's down under.

The map looks like it was labeled by Bryan Fischer or Tony Perkins, or James Dobson, or John Hagee or David Barton.

These so called Christian leaders have managed since 1980 to conflate (blend) extreme far right politics, racism, xenophobia, and religion into a truly toxic and poisonous brew.

Brought to us by the same folks who worship and profit by War. Disgusting and true.
