Chris Christie demonstrates that he is a good sport on Late Night with David Letterman. Oh, and that he likes doughnuts.

Courtesy of CBS New York:

During the interview, Letterman remarked, “We’ve made jokes about you – not just one or two; not just ongoing; intermittent, but…”

At that moment, Christie took out a doughnut and began eating it.

“I didn’t know (the interview) was going to be this long,” Christie said.

Christie has termed his girth “fair game” for comedians. Letterman asked him how he actually felt about the subject.

“I only care if you’re funny,” Christie said. “From my perspective, if the joke is funny, I laugh – even if it’s about me. If it’s not funny, I don’t laugh. But I’ve never felt like it was anything that really bugged me all that much, no.”

He pointed out two specific jokes of Letterman’s that he said he likes, despite the jokes being at his expense.

“The first one was, ‘Celebrity birthday today – Chris Christie turns 50. He blew out the candles on his cake, and he wished for another cake,’” Christie said.

“And I don’t know if this is one of your best ones, but I think it’s very topical given what went on [Super Bowl Sunday],” Christie continued. “‘A billion dollars will be spent on potato chips for Super Bowl Sunday, and that’s just at Gov. Christie’s house.”

You know if Hillary Clinton runs in 2016, Chirstie is not an issue.

However if she doesn't run then he just might have a legitimate shot at the White House.

He does often come off very well, to the point where I have to actively remind myself that he is just another Republican, who will actively attempt to undo muhc of what President Obama has done during his eight years in office.

Gotta admit he is funny though.

He's just another Republican, Gryphen. Really, he is. Please don't be fooled.

    1. Chella12:59 PM

I may have lived in long island for the past 8 years, but I was born and raised in nj.

He is a republican. And I don't agree with most everything the man says or does, but he does love his state, and when the people of new jersey need him the most, as sandy has proved, he doesn't let party lines get in the way of helping his state.

Everyone talks a lot of smack about new jersey, and it's really undeserved. It was a wonderful place to grow up.

I have to give it to the man, and while I don't agree with his philosophies or his politics, he stands up for his state and the people who live there.

  2. Well yeah Gryph...he's funny but you can't trust him as far as you can...uh...er....throw him?

The devil (HA!) comes in many shapes and sizes...look at Baldy! LOL!!!

    1. And Gryphen’s a weight-lifter, or was. I think Christie goes about four-fifty. Can you toss him, Gryphen?

  3. Anonymous6:40 AM

He is in denial as to his huge body. At his age and weight, things will begin going downhill if he doesn't do something about it. I doubt very seriously the man will ever be elected POTUS. Want to bet me? Haha!!

Sarah Palin to Join Al Jazeera as Host

". . . Palin, who previously served as governor of Alaska, said she also will host a travel show dedicated to showcasing the beauty of her home state for the Arab world.

“Alaska is located very close to the Middle East, yet for some reason we don’t have many Arab tourists,” she said. “We may not have camels, deserts and genies, but we’ve certainly got lots of oil and caribou - which are kinda like the Christian version of camels.”

    1. Leland8:43 AM

Oh, I sincerely hope this is a snark!

"Alaska is very close to the Middle East"? HOW? It's almost 6000 air miles away by standard flight paths!

And that is only ONE of her comments!

Any bets on how long it will take for her to say something stupid enough to have a death order issued against her?

Then again, it might be interesting to see how long it takes the Arab world to start laughing at her, too!

    2. Anonymous9:06 AM

I hope someone will post that over at C4P site. I can't because I'm banned. I wonder how long before they realize it's satire.

    3. Anonymous9:34 AM

Now Sarah is going to stamp her foot and demand another apology from someone. How else can she get noticed unless she is always the victim.

    4. Anonymous11:27 AM

FYI, Daily Currant is a satire site, like The Onion.

    5. Anita Winecooler6:59 PM

Very well done! Notice Liz Lemon commented on her creds, Brilliant!!

  5. I really like Christie, but I remind myself that the poor and middleclass ALWAYS do better under Democrats. I don’t think there’s an exception to that old axiom. If there is, I like to hear about it, since the minute I use it, the friendly Republican next door will start scouring political history to prove me wrong, lol.

I’m starting to think Christie’s weight is so natural that it isn’t a problem.

    1. Leland8:45 AM

      Take a look at Eisenhower.

    2. Anonymous10:06 AM

There is nothing "natural" about Christie's weight problem, except the fact that he's been morbidly obese for so long that he's gotten used to it.

  6. He will need to be thinner and fitter if serious about a Presidential run - so if he starts losing weight - he is in the race.

Also, too - Hillary won't be in the race

  7. Anonymous7:29 AM

In July, 2011, Gov.Christie was hospitalized when he had trouble breathing. His weight is a big issue because he is morbidly obese. It is a health risk. To his credit, he was a good sport to go on Dave's show and roll with the punches. A former half term governor of Alaska could take a lesson from that guy. She would have made more points by going on his show, telling him that joking about her kids wasn't funny, and then wink at him and say, "You betcha." She would have won that round, or at least, she would have made a good showing. Her constant demands for apologies via Facebook or whatever media will notice her is not nearly as brave as facing the joker and standing her ground. I thought that she was a grizzly, not a wimp.

While Gov.Christie did what he had to do to get aid for his state after Hurricane Sandy, there is also video of him being a big bully, insulting both reporters and people who wanted to ask him questions. I think that part of his "fat issue" is that he likes being about to throw his weight around, literally and figuratively.

  8. Anonymous7:34 AM

being a NJ gal who bleeds blue, i've come to have a cautious appreciation for our governor. and i think of it this way, if the democratic candidate for president loses, would i be OK with THIS republican as president, and my answer is YES.

    1. Anonymous9:10 AM

Another NJ gal, who also bleeds blue, I've come to respect how he deals with his own party but I do have a problem with how he has anger issues and lashes out on people whose questions he doesn't like.

    2. Anonymous10:13 AM

Well, I guess he doesn't like people who make minimum wage, since he vetoed an increase.

    3. Chella1:41 PM

Although I do live in lawn guyland now (in one of the south shore towns hardest hit by sandy) I was a born and raised jersey girl myself, and I am shamelessly progressive.

While I don't agree with many of Christie's policies, after seeing how he threw party lines out the window to help those who live in his state after sandy hit, my respect for the man grew.

Sandy absolutely destroyed the town I live in now, the national guard was on the ground here for weeks, not only to help those who have lost everything (including those who's houses were literally ripped from their foundations and swept out into the Great South Bay), but also to stop the absolutely disgusting looters who broke into people's houses to grab anything that sandy didn't take.

So to see all of our leaders, from mayors and town supervisors, to governors and our POTUS put aside their ideological differences to come to our aid, really warmed my heart, even when we went without power for days, and waited on gas lines for hours so that we could keep our homes warm with generators that neighbors hares with one another so no one would be left in the cold.

  9. Anonymous8:40 AM

Can't weight to see him on the cover of "Runners World"

  10. Anonymous8:52 AM

How much do you want to bet Sarah "Don't Forget Me" Palin wants to go on David Letterman's show too?

Maybe David will question Sarah about the Palin family prostitution ring?

    1. Anonymous9:30 AM

"She Who WILL Not Be Overlooked" will surface long enough to embarrass herself yet again, but I doubt Letterman would have her.

  11. Anonymous9:42 AM

It will take more than a joke to reinvigorate the party that IS a joke.......

Re General Petraeus - big news

  13. Anita Winecooler7:16 PM

These excerpts were funny! He's someone who's gained a great deal of respect from me since he did what's right for his constituents and made nice with President Obama and The Boss, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a republican and made that horrible speech at the convention.

I'm surprised at his candor in the entire segment when he says his doctor told him his health is being adversely affected by his girth. That's so mething that should give his followers pause.

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
