There are far too few people who even KNOW about Tesla, let alone what he did or said.

And Tesla is just not mentioned.

  3. Tesla was a genius---a man before his time. He was able to see the end product without all of the necessary components having yet been invented or conceived, much like da Vinci. But the same moneyed interests and their echo chamber would be chastising him and ridiculing his work today, instead of using existing technology to bring his ideas to fruition.

In today's markers, it's all about short-term profits, beating the street's forecasts for the quarter and maintaining power as one of the chosen corporations in sectors with quasi-monopolies or oligopolies in which are hugr barriers to entry while they suck at the government't test for subsidies and tax breaks, courtesy of a corrupt Congress and political system. But investing in R&D to help mankind? Um, not so much.

This TURNS my STOMACH. His entire line of thinking is woefully twisted and his smugness makes me want to vomit.

NRA President: ‘Today, Guns Are Cool’

National Rifle Association president David Keene expressed confidence that the powerful lobby has a decided edge in the simmering debate over gun violence, telling the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a profile published Saturday that his side draws one of its biggest advantages from being hip.

Keene said much has changed since the 1994 passage of the since-expired federal assault weapons ban, which amounted to a policy defeat for the NRA.

"The difference between today and 15 years ago is that today, guns are cool," Keene said.

Keene also characterized the debate over gun violence in the United States, brought to the fore by the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., as a "war" that he thinks the NRA will ultimately win.

"You get into a war like this - the president has proposed 87 things," Keene said. "We'll lose a battle here or there. But we won't lose the war."

In 1973, during the first oil embargo, the world's industrial nations had a wakeup call.

Same thing happened again in 1978-79, although not quite to the same degree.

At that time, the USA was the undisputed industrial leader of the world, and we could have
started a 25 or 50 year national energy plan to leave oil behind as a fuel for our cars and trucks, and home heating.

How many people know there were practical electric cars as early as 1900, with GM introducing it's famed EVO in the 1990's.

We could revolutionize the world's economy if we invested even 2% of the defense budget in research and development towards electric vehicles, and solar charging stations for homes and business.

Other nations have national energy policies that put ours to shame.

Another Tesla fan here. Tesla was a gift to humanity, no doubt about it. But, of course, big business (JP Morgan as one) ruined just about everything Tesla tried to do for the betterment of humanity.

And unfortunately, a lot of Tesla's creations have been weaponized and are being used in horrific warfare. On the plus side, Tesla have us A/C, wireless transmission and about 800 other patents that we use every.single.day. But since he wasn't a big business player, Edison and those of his ilk get all the credit in the history books.

If you want to know how Tesla's inventions have been weaponized, read Nick Begich, Jr.'s book 'Angels Don't Play This HAARP'. The first array being located in Gakona (Alaska). There are others located around the globe.

If you're looking for a hero, read everything you can about Nikola Tesla. An amazing human and all around good guy that really existed. Born 1856, died 1943. Here's to you Mr. Tesla!

Tesla was a genius but it is helpful to remember there was a very deep and broad environmental movement in Eurpoe and the Americas ca 1890 to 1915. Beginnings of national park systems, preservation and conservation movements, internatioanl treaties to protect birds and mammals...all before the distraction of two world wars divided by two decades of discord. Even the "back to the land" movement offering returning WW I soldiers (their little house with a good sized lot for self-sustaining gardening) predates the popular movement with the same name in the '60's and '70's. Lots opf folks pre 1915 were thinking about the clock ticking on the relatively new oil-based energy regime. Tesla was very much a man of his time too.
