Hey has anybody seen my advertisers? |
In one month, over 300 more sponsors have pulled ads, now totaling over 2,500. (This does not count the 800 or so who have 'left quietly') Limbaugh now averages a loss of 10 sponsors per day. To make up for these sponsorship losses, it is known he has been subsidized by outside sources including FreedomWorks (backed by the Tea Party). And I'm betting he is having to subsidize himself, to stay on the air.
You know occasionally I hear a bit of Limbaugh's show and I have been struck by the fact that it seems there are always just the same advertisements repeated over and over, and that it seems all of them have something to do with internet security, home security, or some company selling blinds.
I knew he had been hemorrhaging advertisers but even I did not know it was so many. That is awesome news!
If you want to help you can sign a petition to do so here.
First Rush Limbaugh, and next Fox News.
I think his advertisers went to the same place as Ted Nugent's so-called csreer.
ReplyDeleteI owe a debt of gratitude to Rush. I worked 30+ years for General Motors and had quite a bit of retirement investments invested in company stock. In 2007 GM hired Rush be their "Green" spokesman. http://www.ecorazzi.com/?p=3473
DeleteThat was my cue to divest all my GM holdings. I did not need anymore evidence GM had lost all touch with reality. Because of Rush I was able to preserve my savings as GM really went down the toilet not much later...
Good. It's what he deserves.
ReplyDeleteNow if we can get the same thing done to Glenn Beck.
Glenn who?
DeleteCouldn't happen to a nicer guy!!!!!! I can't wait to see how long it takes his current wife (#3? or is it 4?) to leave him as his income starts to drop!
ReplyDeleteWife In Name Only, maybe. Think Cindy c*nt McCain.
DeleteI remember reading recently that, according to the demographic research people in the advertising industry, the median age of Rush Limbaugh listeners is "deceased." That might have just as much to do with this slide as does his repellent behavior.
ReplyDeleteI first remember briefly hearing him on AM radio in 88 or 89. I turned on the radio in my rusty trusty Subaru and here was this deep voice going on and on about "the homos" and about "the homos" and "the homos." I didn't know who he was, but my first reaction was "This sounds like a guy who is sooner or later going to get busted in a men's room for propositioning a cop."
Tom, in FL
Haha, I thought exactly the same thing back in the day. Still do!
DeleteIt won't happen because he only plays in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. He is well known to the local young male urchins.
DeleteHopefully someday he will get busted for this reprehensible behavior; that will be a glorious day.
He's loosing listeners to natural causes. They are dying off.
DeleteAnyone know any teens, college students or young professionals that are tuning and and going, "Yeah Limbaugh! He's the man."?
Thought not.
thank you Tom - he works hard to kill off his audience
DeleteTake back our country

DeleteThanks Gryph just signed.
ReplyDeleteLast week the New York Times had a piece on Republican consultant S. E Cupp.
ReplyDeleteShe's the brunette who wears librarian glasses on MSNBC's The Cycle.
Cupp dared to say the truth about Limbaugh and she's been hammered by the far right.
"We can’t be afraid to call out Rush Limbaugh,”
“If we can get three Republicans on three different networks saying, ‘What Rush Limbaugh said is crazy and stupid and dangerous,’
maybe that’ll give other Republicans cover
to denounce the talk-show host as well."
Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure his eventual resignation will have something about health and time with his family.
I find it hard to believe that universities and colleges advertise on his show - and I sent my objections to UofP as an alumni. It makes me sick that these organizations would align themselves with such a hateful, sick person!
ReplyDeleteI had to listen to him all the time growing up, and he literally gave me a headache. Just the sound of his voice made me ill (and at 6-16, you'd better believe I really wasn't paying much attention to anything that was said anyway). But he was conservative and my family was conservative and so I didn't really care.
DeleteAnd then he insulted Michael J Fox; if anyone remembers hearing about how Rush completely trivialized Parkinson's and basically called Fox a liar and worse-- I actually listened to it live. And that's when i really started paying attention to what he was saying.
I'm honestly really really confused how someone like Rush can be friends with Elton John (who performed at his latest wedding) and Seth MacFarland (?!?!?!). I keep telling myself that someone has to be pulling the strings on Rush because if he were half the pompous dickweed he is on the air, how on God's green earth could ANYONE stand to be around him (aside from those who worship the ground he walks on)??
I can say straight up that the men who listen to Rush do it not just because he plays into their conservative beliefs. It's not just because he fills them with dread and the feeling that they and they alone are the only ones smart enough to realize that fill-in-the-blank is true/gonna happen/etc. He panders to being a bully. A bunch of cowards listen to him and repeat what he says because he sounds so sure of himself with that big booming voice-- and his listeners want to pretend they wear big pants too. They can't even stand up to a crooked car salesman, but they'll pretend like they'd be willing to knock our President on his ass (as if).
People, THAT is Rush's audience. And as long as we have people who are all too willing to be brainwashed and filled with hatred and made up stories, people like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh will always have an audience ready to kiss their feet. And unless we stand up to people like Palin and Rush, unless people like Sir Elton John take a stand and call him out on his bullshit, they'll always have ready access to millions of people (.... well, at least Rush will. I'm hoping the final fork has been stuck in Palin's overcooked carcass).
Maybe Rush has a lot in common with Elton John. Rush's last marriage was a front for his alternative lifestyle, doncha think?
DeleteThe day will come, sooner or later that this halfa junkie gasbag will be revealed for what he is. A cop, a men's room, a wide stance, something, this dicklick will make a mistake and then, no more show.
ReplyDeleteI won't be Rushed
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of conservatism, Limbaugh’s defenders need to get his fallibility through their heads
