A 3-year-old boy in Greenville, South Carolina was shot in the head and killed on Friday after he started playing with a pink handgun because he thought it was a toy.
Police responding to the shooting at Haywood Plantation Apartments said that Tmorej Smith was found with a gunshot wound to the head, according to The Associated Press.
Investigators determined that Tmorej and his 7-year-old sister had been playing with a pink handgun when the incident occurred.
Deputy Coroner Jeff Fowler ruled the shooting an accidental homicide.
Fowler said that the shooting happened in a bedroom, while the boy’s grandparents were in the living room. The parents were not at home at the time.
You know some of you may remember that a number of years ago there was this big push to make sure that toy guns were manufactured in bright colors so that they would not be mistaken for real guns, after there were a number of incidents of police officers shooting children while under the impression they had actual weapons in their hands.
And do you know what? It really did help.
But what do you do when people buy REAL guns colored to appear harmless or toy like?
What do you do that is besides bury your three year old after he loses his life playing with it?
Remember guns don't kill people. But even babies can kill, or die, if they have on in their hand.
Bristol gives Tripp a lesson in gun safety by taking him shopping for a gun for Sarah’s birthday, telling him to not touch any guns that are real, only pretend ones. They settle on a pink pistol for mom that totally looks pretend.

Bristol is a confirmed idiot as is her mother and grandfather. I'm surprised any of them lived past the age of 18.
DeleteHello Kitty assault rifle?? omg
ReplyDeleteThis is part of the pathetic push by the gun manufacturers to expand their market to women.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry...there are not that many people I think have enough common sense to own a gun, let alone carry one. So sad this child lost his life because the idiot adults in his life had to own a pretty pink gun to make themselves feel powerful or cool or sexy or whatever-the-f**k.
Sure it's a tragedy, but on the positive side, I think we can all agree that's an awfully pretty gun. It's not threatening the way the black guns are. It's cute and fun looking. I mean, you spot this in a girl's purse, you're gonna think "tampon or birth control case" before you think "holy shit, this girl is packing heat!!"
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, eventually you're gonna think "holy shit..."
Remember, guns don't kill people, um...3 year olds kill people?
This madness brought to you by the good folks of the NRA.
Didn't Bristle give Sarah a pink revolver for her last birthday? How old is Tri-G?
ReplyDeleteNo such luck there yet but we know what you're hoping for. Too obvious isn't it?
DeleteDon't be an asshole, 7:38.
DeleteFuck you Anon Troll
DeleteAnd of course, Miss Bristol Palin bought a pink gun for her mother on Life's A Tripp!
ReplyDeleteHey, QUEEN ESTHER! I dare you to come out with a Facebook post or tweet, Pink Pistol packing "grizzly mama!"
ReplyDeleteDARE you or whomever writes it for you! **wink**
PLEASE stop calling her Queen Esther. Sarah Palin is manly in the face, Queen Esther was said to be feminine looking in the face.
DeleteEnough with the fucking pink shit
ReplyDeleteWhat would you ever do without these incidents of children being shot dead. You would have nothing to talk about and celebrate with your audience!
ReplyDelete7:37 PM You are part of this AUDIENCE, AREN'T YOU? Or do you just come here to criticize?
DeleteTime was, the NRA was constituted to promote firearm safety. Funny how these things turn, isn't it?
DeleteSorta' akin to how psychological projection works, as in a Queen Esther worshiper accusing our claque of “celebrating" evil like this.
No one here celebrates death. We want the NRA and its acolytes to grow up and act like adults, instead of stamping their entitled feet over perfectly sane gun registration and perfectly sane use of firearms. Right now they are all potential murderers and nothing more than pimps for the gun lobby. Pink guns have nothing at all to do with being safe. Nor do big black ones, frankly.
Deleteprinted and being sent to Wayne LaPierre, with no comment. Another pelt for his wall, or his office floor.
Delete@Anonymous at 7:37.
DeleteWhat do you have to do besides comment on a blog? If you don't like IM, there are millions of other blogs more to your liking.
Think about heading over to David Duke's racist bullshit page, or maybe Chuck Norris' kick-ass churchey Rill Merican blog.
Why not try Ted Nugent's shit-in-your-pants to avoid the draft pedophile website?
Or you could try any of the thousands of militant Christian supremacist Taliban pages that advocate keeping women submissive, barefoot, pregnant, and chained to the kitchen sink.
For a real thrill, finish up at Glenn Beck's food-hoardin, gold buyin, underground, nutcase Mormon powered cement bunker.
to 7:37 - and to us sane folks, that would be a good thing. To you crazies and the grifters of the NRA and $carah Palin, you would mourn the loss of $ in your pocket.
DeletePresident Obama re-elected. We are still celebrating! BTW how's the ride down into the obsurity well workin' out for ya, teabaggers?
Delete"Deputy Coroner Jeff Fowler ruled the shooting an accidental homicide."
ReplyDeleteThe boy did not kill himself. It was an accidental homicide.
Nothing better than the pee pond at night. Seems a certain "Shoot Like A Girl Thread" has been deleted, reported, and banned. Could "someone" have brought up a pink pistol?
ReplyDeleteI think it's time to change the meaning of what we often read in tragedies like this one.
ReplyDelete"Deputy Coroner Jeff Fowler ruled the shooting an accidental homicide.
What was "accidental" about this? Was it an "accident" a)a unattended loaded pistol was in the home? b)an unattended unloaded pistol and loose ammo were in this home? or c)Any unattended unlocked weapon was in this home?
I'm sorry if this comes off as unfeeling, I do understand the pain of losing a child and the grief and possible guilt this family MUST be bearing, but this was easily avoidable.
And "pink" guns to appeal to women is offensive.
Exactly. If a person is killed by a gun, the OWNER must be held liable.
DeleteWasn't Sarah Palin gifted with a pink hand gun by her "awesome daughter" and her then trial husband Gino? Wasn't there a photo of Tripp sitting next to a very real looking Glock?
ReplyDeletehow can bristol surprise sarah with a gun wouldn't that be skirting the background check.
DeleteI wonder if C4P will report the incident whenever Queen Quitter accidentally shoots herself in the dick. Or will Malia have to report that in her blog, forcing Palin's 'team' to comment after hours on a Friday afternoon?
ReplyDeleteAnother incident of sheer unbelievable. Americans want guns to protect themselves and once again the gun nutters are killing their own children. It's just unbelievable beyond words. They don't even know how to lock them up and make it a safe haven for their children. How very sad.
ReplyDeleteMost of them are Social Darwinists, and this is an illustration of Social Darwinism,so THEY should be cheering (even though we sane people find the theory repugnant).
DeleteShut yer mouth, you are just jellus!! USA!! USA!!
DeleteI love the toy department shopping with my little grandson, and i have to say..here where I live in B.C. Canada, toy guns seem to be exiting the shelves here wherever you shop. I'm very happy about that.
ReplyDeletey understanding is that Canada has some pretty good legislation about toy guns.
DeleteAirsoft (plastic pellet guns, non lethal)are allowed only in clear plastic so the cops will never shoot a kid out playing.
Good idea, Canada.
I never bought my son toy guns when he was a little boy. Nor was he allowed to play with toy guns.
DeleteThat pretty gun looks just like the one that Bristol bought for her mother. What a great idea, especially when the grandchildren are over for a visit.
ReplyDeleteThe gun in the picture looks like a toy. What three-year-old would know the difference? Bright and shiny, it is a magnet for a child. A moment off carelessness is all it takes.
ReplyDeleteGun Chic gone wrong.
What could possibly go wrong manufacturing real guns that look like toys?
ReplyDeleteFucking Idiots!
Another needless death brought to you by the good ole' boys at the NRA.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the gun was in the nightstand so the mother would be ready to "protect her babies from violent intruders" as advocated by Gayle Trotter. Splendid.
ReplyDelete1. Why was it loaded?
ReplyDelete2. Why wasn't the safety on?
3. Why wasn't a locked trigger guard on that gun?
4. Why wasn't it in a gun safe or other securely locked container?
At this point, I am having a great deal of trouble having sympathy for STUPID parents. They're not careless. They are just bloody STUPID.
I think having to live with causing the death of your child is a fitting punishment. Only they'll probably just blame someone else. These kind of people never take responsibility for their own actions.
