Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Westboro "God Hates Fags" church decides to protest Santa Monica High School. School responds by protesting them back, with hilarious results.
Courtesy of Americablog:
Rev. Fred “God Hates F-gs” Phelps was protesting Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, California this morning.
The Phelps’ made the trip to California for the Oscars, but since they were already there, they decided to picket a high school too.
So the kids decided that two could play that game and came out onto the sidewalks to do a little protesting of their own.
They clearly had superior numbers on their side, but they also had some things the Westboro folks lacked completely, youthful energy, creativity, and a sense of humor.
Have I mentioned yet how much I admire the youth of today?
Well I do. I do indeed.

They weren't in Kansas anymore.
ReplyDeleteHere's some inspiration:

DeleteUh oh....looks like Krazy Krusty is stalking Baldy's ex-partner in crime Kristan Cole now!
What happened Krusty....couldn't find any pictures of half dead Baldy running a marathon so you had to drag her "ghoul"friend Cole into your Krazy "fan"tasy?
Get help Krazy!
Newsflash! Baldy can't run marathons anymore, those dried up twigs rubbing together would start fires.
DeleteNo shrink in their right mind would even go near Krusty! She's inspired by "Family love". Guess who's brother gave her a valentine's heart and bottle of cheap wine? LMAO!!
do you see the sign one of the WB's is holding? it says You Eat Your Kids!
ReplyDeletewow, that is profoundly weird.
yay to the youth! i leaked a little at their proud protest, and the joy they took in it.
thanks gryphen, for sharing this!
me too! it literally brought rears of pride to my eyes!!!
DeleteI love them too . . . . .
ReplyDeleteA thousand "Cheers!" for the new generation and those who helped them put this together.
ReplyDeleteWe need more of that enthusiasm to focus upon that which unites in love and understanding, rather than that which divides in anger and fear of change.
Those who cleave to an imagined, glorified past will never understand that the only constant in the Universe(s?) is Change.
Thanks, Santa Monica High School!
Loved it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I sobbed in joyful fury and determination to stand with love justice.
When will the students from Wasilla High School protest against having a pimp in their town who preys on down and out females to recruit into his family prostitution ring?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the women of Alaska?
Thanks for posting! I think the kids of today are going to be formidable opponents. And it's what this country will need.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting that, Gryph. It restores my faith in mankind. As a mother of a 20 year old I know today's youth are engaged and I'm so proud of them I could cry!!!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Earthlings,
ReplyDeleteI am from an alien race from the star system Alpha Centauri, and arrived in a space ship high above the earth this morning, your time, February 26, 2013. (Star date, 90757.11)
I am appalled to still see the wars, conflicts, murders, religious hatred, rapes, ignorance, poverty, and suffering that the human race still tolerates, and even promotes.
Humans have such a long way to go in terms of not only science, but more importantly, care of your planet and caring for each other.
The ways of the Galaxy do not include hatred, wars, and conflict.
Because of this, I will not share our advanced technology or knowledge with humans, in your nascent stages of development.
I have a dream that 1000 years in the future, humans may create a world wide planetary government that will ensure health, happiness, education and prosperity for all.
I will return in 3013 to see if evolution, your communications, and your leaders have brought you to a state of Galaxy conciousness.
Until such time as that happens, I now return in my space ship to our blessed planet Alpha Centauri Bb.

There is one sign I wish someone would have thought of for these students:
ReplyDeleteEVEN YOUR OWN CHILDREN ARE LEAVING YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR HATRED!!!!
And these kids going to be voting soon, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteMany voted in the last election.
DeleteBelieve me, the hard right has forever lost this generation.
Everyone in my daughter´s lily white sorority voted for President Obama.
Which sorority?
The largest one with the highest GPAs.
This phenomenon was national.
Why would the Westboro mob be protesting at a high school? If they are going to protest at one, does that mean that they are going to protest at all of them? I thought that they specialized in military funerals or funerals for the victims of mass murderers? What have the high school students in Santa Monica done to distress the Westboro nut cases (realizing, of course, that it does not take much!)?
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
I am wondering this also. The Westboro folks are certainly stupid to think that a California high school student body would be sympathetic to their protest.
DeleteI wonder who supports their travel costs? More dark money, I am sure, and there is no oversight on religious organization finances, is there?
DeleteThat's what "Postage" is for, ftd!
DeleteDid that music get dubbed into the video afterwards, or were there some kids singing at the time? That would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think it was dubbed later, but it was the right song, and maybe they played it while they were protesting.
DeleteLooking at their lips, they were singing "all we are saying is give peace a chance". I think the song was dubbed on the video because it was easier than getting a good audio.
DeleteElizabeth 44
That was wonderful Gryphen. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteUniversity of Chicago students did something similar a few years ago.

The Tundra Twit shares her words of wisdom via twitter:

LMAO! Baldy's tweet sounds like our resident troll!
Delete" Sarah Palin
@SarahPalinUSA
America's sick & tired of yet more ginned up crisis. DC: Grow up. Get to work. Go around lefty obstructionists then get out of workers' way."
Ole Baldy is getting her ass handed to her on her OWN twitter page! LOL!!!
Gina, she has now taken to facebook to continue spewing her ignorant crap.
Deletehttp://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin/posts/10151473843058588
What a vile piece of sh!t she is.
And Baldy enters tinfoil hat territory:
Delete"If we are going to wet our proverbial pants over 0.3% in annual spending cuts when we’re running up trillion dollar annual deficits, then we’re done. Put a fork in us. We’re finished. We’re going to default eventually and that’s why the feds are stockpiling bullets in case of civil unrest."
wow, RAM must be out carbing up. Sounds like Brancy phoned in some help!
DeleteVery o/t, but I just surveyed Andrew Sullivan's View From My Window contest winner for this week: Anchorage, Alaska. It reminded me of the huge earthquake that hit Alaska in April, 1964, just a few short months after Sarah Heath started howling her head off.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the odds that Chuckie, Sr. decided to pick his family up from Idaho and move to Alaska at just this time because of the jobs available after the earthquake-- and teaching jobs open for guys like him with only a junior college degree?
Wicked. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteWTF! how dare they come and trashing my town. Santa Monica is a rich beautiful city. Glad these moron went back to where they belonged to.
ReplyDeleteStill trying to pray 'the gay' away:
ReplyDeleteGroup Defending Proposition 8 Holding “9 Weeks Of Prayer For Marriage”
The Alliance Defending Freedom is urging prayers for the lawyers fighting to uphold Proposition 8 and DOMA for them, their families, and their “service on behalf of the just and worthy cause of protecting marriage.” Lawyers opposing the laws get prayers “that God would manifest His goodness in [their] life.”
As the clock ticks down to when the Supreme Court will be considering the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8 on March 26 and 27, the organization working to keep Proposition 8 on the books is organizing a weekly prayer effort for different people involved in the cases.
Alan Sears — the chief executive officer and general counsel of the Alliance Defending Freedom — describes the effort in a video announcing the "9 Weeks of Prayer for Marriage."
"We're asking you, your friends, family, neighbors and church community to join Alliance Defending Freedom and our allies in faithfully praying, praying each week for different people and different things leading up to the Supreme Court arguments," he says in the video.

The "Alliance Defending Freedom"? Whose freedom are they defending? I wish these crazy groups would quit co-opting words like "freedom" and "liberty" and "Constitution." For the most part, they haven't a clue what they're talking about. I remember years ago being asked to sign a petition opposing gay marriage. I responded at the time that the concept of gay marriage was no threat to me and I thought that if being married brought some happiness to gay couples, what's wrong with that. I don't think I convinced the lady with the petition but I've never changed my mind.
DeleteBeaglemom
two members of the hate-mongering Westboro Baptist Church are defecting. Fred Phelps’ granddaughter Megan Phelps-Roper declared Wednesday that she and her sister Grace have left their Kansas congregation, and apologized for the pain their organization has inflicted. Or, as she said in a text message to the Kansas City Star, “We ripped the Band-Aid off.”

Excellent! That just gave me goose bumples all over my body.
ReplyDeleteI was sort of hoping that long line of kids who were facing with their backs away from the Westboro
ReplyDelete"protesters" would all pull their pants down and moon them!
Love, love those kids, hpe each and everyone will stand for peace, justice and fairness always.
ReplyDeleteKids get in the news for the bad reasons, after working these past two elections, I've seen kids at their best, engaged, passionate and well prepared for anything that came their way. The kids are alright!
ReplyDeleteAnd they chose the perfect song to go with this film clip!
