Sources say that Ashley Judd to declare her candidacy this spring.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

]Ashley Judd, the 44-year-old actress and social activist, has told key advisers and political figures that she is planning to announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate here this spring.

Judd told one close ally that she plans to announce her run for the Democratic nomination for the 2014 race “around Derby” -- meaning in early May when the Kentucky Derby brings national attention to Louisville and the Bluegrass State.

Reached for comment by email Saturday, Judd offered a not-quite-ironclad denial to The Huffington Post. “I am not sure who is saying this stuff, but it is not I! I’d prefer as a fan of your journalism that you stay accurate and credible. We told everyone who called us yesterday these stories are fabrications.”

But she declined to specify which "stories,” did not say what wasn't "accurate,” and did not respond when asked directly whether she had, in fact, decided to run or chosen a time to declare her intentions.

This is still the race that I am the most excited about.

I am probably going to post every single debate between Mitch "Turtle man" McConnell and Judd just so we  can watch how uncomfortable the old troll becomes when he has to deal with this intelligent well spoken woman.

It is going to be political theater at its finest.

I can hardly wait for their race. I so want her to beat the obstructionist! He's nothing but a jerk! Makes too much money, takes too many vacations, is negative constantly, never smiles and has zero personality!

It's time to go Democratic in the U.S. Congress - House especially.

She probably isn't going to win...but who knows!

Turnout will probably be low and there probably isn't going to be a groundswell of Republican enthusiasm this time around, like there was in 2010 -- except for in the primaries...and in that case...it just might mean that McConnell loses to some nutcase rightwing hardliner, paving the way for ANOTHER Teabagger-induced upset!

Also, it seems like the Democrats are going to be pushing efforts for minority turnout -- in TX -- but I suspect that if this race looks close, they might make an effort in KY, too.

Also also! I'm thinking there's going to be a LOT of anti-sequester backlash and You Know Who will get a lot of blame for that! Anyway, I'm thinking she MUST stand a chance! After all, they wouldn't be attacking her ALREADY if Mitchie was doing well in polls against her.

10:44 I think Ashley Judd has a great chance in beating him, if he wins the primary! Wouldn't it be something if he lost at the start? This next election cycle is going to be so interesting across the nation. Can hardly wait!

Let us hope that soon the voice of the Turtle will be silenced in politics.

If she doesn't win in 14 she can knock out Rand in 16.

Mitch does look like a turtle, but he reminds me more of Mr. McGoo.

As much as I admire Ashley Judd for her political activism...I worry about this very much. The GOP (Karl ROVE) will rip her to shreds. I hope that she is tough enough to withstand the onslaught that is (already has begun) to come her way.
By the way...her mother (the other half of the Judds who actually has never sang into an open mic, because it's well known in Nashville Naomi cannot sing*) is a certified born-again Christian conservative. Should be interesting to see whether or not mama Judd campaigns for the daughter of hers who is actually intelligent. Yeah, Wynonna can sing, but that's about the extent of it!

    * Has anyone ever heard Naomi sing by herself? No, because she never has and never will. The Judds' so-called 'harmonies' are always studio-manufactured. This is not just idle Nashville gossip...it's true.

The GOP (Karl ROVE) will ***try to*** rip her to shreds. Big difference.

They will fail abysmally, just as they did in the presidential election.

That woman has not had an easy life so far. In addition, she is highly intelligent and well-educated to boot. I would bet that she can take whatever the rove sleaze machine can throw at her. Based on what they have tried so far, they will run a brilliant campaign against her. Well, brilliant if it were 1957. They seem to be a tad behind on current values.

Ashley Judd has survived a difficult childhood and mutiple sexual assaults, and has created a successful career in the film and television industry, which is notorious for eating young women alive.

I think she'll be able to handle anything Rove can throw at her.

11:50 What does your statement have to do w/Ashley and her capabilities. No one cares if their mother sings or doesn't. Not informative at all.

Naomi's singing abilities may be the deal breaker for Ashley. That sounds like the perfect angle of attack for Mitch, besides, of course, the highly rated "She's a librul sexually promiscuous out of touch hollywood eliteist who uses birth control"

KY Senatorial Picture is looking like a remake of the Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

    Good: Ashley Judd
Bad: TBA; currently tied-Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul
Ugly: TBA; tie Turtle and Aqua Buddha

Clint Eastwood stars as himself in the 2014 remake. Rand Paul makes a cameo as a snake oil salesman selling the Elixir he says is made from grass roots and Tea, but smells like Astro-turf and tastes like Koch. A large plateful of pasta al fredo is cast as Paul's new hairpiece, replacing the greasy tumbleweed look.

Go Ashley! Make these pasty dough boys take THEIR shirts off!!! It's time the Koch-sucking Aqua-Buddha and NeoCon errand boy Mister Turtle are kicked to the curb for good.

I choose to be very optimistic about this race, alot of changes happened during 2012....the GOP really pissed off alot of women. If the Dems really focus on turtleman's voting record against the common good, his place with the evil 3...well maybe Kentucky will wake up too. Kentucky has remained one of the biggest "welfare" states while McConnell has made millions enjoying his phoney status by lying consistently to everyone. Judd is like Warren in her passion about women, the environment and so many social issues....and she uses "plain speak" that even the Faux viewer can understand. I think the Obama faithful will turn out this time in the midterms after seeing what happened in 2010. I can remember every single GOP'er screaming about JOBS JOBS JOBS..and look at what they did when they won. Nothing but union busting, education defunding, abortion, tax cuts for the rich, etc. Liars one and all....elections have consequences, and it will depend how loud the Dems remind the lazy voters of what they allowed to happen 3 years ago.

"The GOP (Karl ROVE) will rip her to shreds."

They tried that kind of stuff during the election. Look what it got them.
The GOP is at an all time low.
    They'd better tread ~very~ carefully.

Look at Karl Rove's record - he did that before and it didn't work! I see Ashley giving McConnell a run for his money and I sincerely hope she wins.

We badly need new blood in the U.S. Congress and the obstructionists need to be voted out of office.

If they were working (and I use that term loosely!) in the private sector, they would have been fired a long time ago!

  12. Sticks and stones...Ashley Judd has been in showbiz for a long time. Her skin is thick. She can deflect verbal barbs with charm and grace. Hollywierd is a perfect training ground for politicians. I don't think too many people will stay at home and not vote either once they know she is running. Star power! Ashley rocks!!!

  13. It seems like "Bitch" McConnell or Yertle the Turtle, as some call him, is the guy who goes to the table w Joe Biden when all else fails & final decisions must be made. But he has been solidly in the party of no camp, and is largely an obstructionist. The fact that more than 1/2 the population is female & that is not even remotely represented in Congress says a lot too. Either women are smart enough to not want any part of it, or it is an entrenched good ole boys club.
I can see the fresh faces of women getting in Congress & saying lets get things done- as well as saying going backwards on Women's rights is *off the table*.

McConnell would be so EASY to debate:
all one needs to do is tell the truth,
and challenge him to do the same.

      Naw, didn't think so!

I'd like her to defeat owlface, but there is lots to attack her on. She is known to be a bit of a diva & a pain to work with, she has acknowledged being bipolar, she has a past drug use problem, she is divorcing her husband now, she has been tabloid fodder for years, she comes from a VERY dysfunctional family, she has made many controversial statements, there are lots of racy movie scenes out there, etc, etc.

Yes, she's smart and owlface is not popular, but she has lots of baggage they can throw at her about not supporting family values, being stable and being an extreme liberal.

1:48 Anti Ashley by any chance? She is a far better candidate than McConnell who is nothing more than an obstructionist, sour in appearance and personality, doesn't ever smile and is a pain in the ass. Ashley brings much more to the table than he and I wish her success in kicking his ass. He might not even make it past the primary if they put up a Teabagger that is liked!
