Teabaggers boycotting Fox News for not being Right Wing enough. Oh this should be good!

Is Fox News going soft?

That is what a number of Tea Party activists are saying and they are organizing a boycott to protest the conservative station’s coverage, especially what they view as the network’s relative silence in investigating the attacks on a diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

“Particularly after the election, Fox keeps turning to the left,” said Stan Hjerlied, 75, of Fort Collins, Colo., and a participant in the boycott. He pointed to an interview Fox News CEO Roger Ailes gave after the election in which he said that the Republican Party and Fox News need to modernize, especially around immigration. “So we are really losing our only conservative network.”

The three-day boycott lasted Thursday morning through Sunday morning, and is the second time this group of activists have gone Fox-free in an effort to steer the coverage. Organizers say a two-day boycott earlier this month knocked 20 percent off of the network’s regular viewership. (A Daily Beast analysis of the same data showed that the boycott had little effect.)

(A "three day boycott." That is like a junkie teaching heroin a lesson by refusing to shoot up for three whole days. You KNOW they are going back.)

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

A leader of the boycott, Kathy Amidon, of Nashville, declined an interview, instead directing The Daily Beast to a website, Benghazi-Truth. The website, a single-page, 23,000-word manifesto complete with multicolored fonts, supposedly incriminating videos of Fox News’s complicity in a coverup, and communist propaganda photographs, is kept by someone who identifies himself online as “Proe Graphique,” and who other members of boycott described as someone who works “in New York media.”

By way of explanation, the website reports: “People ask why not all mainstream media? Why just Boycott FOX? The answer, again, is that FOX needs the Tea Party/conservatives more than the conservatives need FOX after FOX turned left, basically selling out the people who made FOX successful in an attempt to earn an extra buck. FOX is extremely vulnerable to these boycotts while the rest of the MSM doesn’t need us at all, to speak of.”

Is it Christmas already? It MUST be Christmas since I just got this great new gift in my stocking!

I have to agree with the crazy guy quoted in the website, Fox News really DOES need the lunatics to keep watching or else they will start to lose their viewers even more rapidly than they already are now.  It is bad enough that they keep dying off, but if the more radical ones turn against them then all they will have left are the ones in the facilities that won't allow the patients to change the channels.

And if you were wondering how this story can be legitimately about the Right Wing nuts without one reference to Hitler, well you spoke to soon now didn't you?

Among the demands the protesters have is that Fox News “be the right-wing CBS News: to break stories, to break information, and to do what news organizations have always done with such stories: break politicians,” that the network have at least one segment on Benghazi every night on two of its prime-time shows; that Fox similarly devote investigative resources to discovering the truth of Obama’s birth certificate; and that the network cease striving to be “fair and balanced.”

“We need Fox to turn right,” said Hjerlied. “We think this is a coverup and Fox is aiding and abetting it. This is the way Hitler started taking over Germany, by managing and manipulating the news media.”

Demanding that Fox focus more on Obama's birth certificate, embarrass themselves more over Benghazi, and stop trying to be "fair and balanced?" Sounds good to me!

Man if this kind of thing keeps happening Orville Redenbacher sales are going to go through the roof!

  1. Uhm. Ok. But. Fox is a teapper's only conduit [however twisted a trip it might be] to the outside world. So. This will be really great for the rest of us, but...oh well.

  2. I think that conservatives in the USA (perhaps the whole world) are pathological. Nothing is ever conservative enough for them. Everything is "too liberal."

If you always think everybody else is "too liberal", maybe the problem is you.

  3. At first I thought this was an early April Fool's Joke. Researching different sources online proved to be the can't make this stuff up..the stupidity of the Teabaggers will never cease to amaze me...

    1. Sort of like gum from a hot summer sidewalk sticking to the bottom of a shoe…

  4. jcinco7:22 AM

ot, but is true that those of us who used the link to the palin 4 prez site and commented are now going to be receiving threats from the palin wingnuts? wow, thanks for the link....

    1. Anonymous7:40 AM

The palin 4 pres site listed the email addresses of those who commented yesterday. Listing personal info violates the Disqus agreement, as the lone comment indicates, so hopefully he will soon take it down. I will report him to Disqus myself in a few minutes.

    2. For those of you who have had their email addresses posted by M. Joseph Sheppard, please contact Disqus at:

    3. jcinco8:39 AM

It's still up. However at this point my name isn't on it...there's one comment pointing out that it's illegal to publish email addresses. How do you report him to disques?

    4. I just contacted Discus. I urge everyone to do the same.

Any licensed lawyers around? My license lapsed a couple of decades ago or I would send Sheppard a nasty cease & desist letter.

    5. Anonymous8:57 AM

Figures that asshole would be so utterly devoid of any morality.

    6. Anonymous8:58 AM

I hardly think you should blame gryphen, you've been to that site before...

    7. Anonymous8:59 AM

Here's the disqus page to report. Scroll down to the bottom "customer support". Sending them a screenshot.

    8. Anonymous9:24 AM

I got a little taste of what fascism feels like..critizice their sarah palin, wake up to an inbox full of the most vile hateful slurs imaginable..I'm still in shock kind of,I knew that her Cult are every bit as vindicative vengeful monsters as she,but still..

    9. Anonymous9:26 AM

      2emptynest,thank you for the link.

    10. jcinco9:26 AM

anonymous 8:58, actually I never have. I think a warning regarding the fact that it isn't a safe site would have been in order. I also think an update here stating that it isn't and also letting the folks who went there via the link whose email addresses have been posted should be alerted. This is no laughing matter.

    11. Anonymous9:29 AM

Anon@8:58 I agree wholeheartedly, I'm one of the people who commented at the site and it never crossed my mind to blame Gryphen jcinco is probably just upset still doesn't justify blaming G.

    12. Anonymous9:58 AM

The most alarming part is that he also collected the ip addresses and gave them to an unhinged character with a founders avatar and dog knows who else.

    13. Anonymous10:00 AM

Make sure you take a screen shot before he deletes the page. If you are being harassed, he has culpability.

    14. Anonymous10:01 AM

2emptynest, adding my thanks for the reporting link.

Just heard back from Disqus; they are looking into the matter now. Will keep you all posted.

    15. jcinco10:02 AM

you're right, I am very upset. A valuable lesson learned. I'll be much more careful where I comment in the future. Call me naive, but I didn't know such a thing ever happens. I didn't mean to blame Gryphen, however, I hope he notifies the folks whose email addresses were posted as some may not even know.

    16. Anonymous10:14 AM

Just an observation, but you politicalgators here complaining about gryphen (don't you do enough of that at your own site?) giving a link to a vile site you were already familiar with is pretty petty.

I read the comments there; you flying monkeys are no better than the cforp monkeys, just different political views. What he did publishing emails was immoral and illegal, but damn, you guys were just as vile.

    17. jcinco, there was no reason for you to expect that emails would be published as this is a clear violation of Disqus' terms. But it is a good reminder that hateful blog owners can and sometimes do violate our rights to privacy.

Sheppard is an evil piece of work--ignorance and delusion directed toward no good end.

    18. Anonymous10:16 AM

The dork also posted his own email address at the Urinal. All you need to do is slip that into Facebook to find out who he is! :)

    19. I hear you, in my naivete I didn't know such a thing could happen either, this just makes me fully realize how demented the Sarah Palin fans really are, kind of scary, lesson well learned.

    20. Anonymous10:36 AM

Anon 10:14 how were the comments "just as vile" pray tell.
The headline read in part "almost too hot to publish lol".
The old fool got called out for being a horny stupid dick and retaliated as his character dictates.
      That's all.

    21. Anonymous10:37 AM

I was following this entire commenting debacle at Palin4Pres yesterday and it didn't originate here at this blog. A commenter on another blog noticed that comments were not being moderated there and let others know and before long a group was over there commenting.

I don't even think Gryphen was following what was happening over there so certainly I don't think it's his responsibility to notify those whose mails were published. From what I've seen this morning it seems that most of those whose mails were published know about it.

This isn't the first time one of the pro-Palin sites has done this. The times I've commented on any of these sites I've created a new Discus profile using a disposable email address. There are many free sites that generate disposable email addresses.

    22. Anonymous10:39 AM

      Yep, you nailed it.

    23. Anonymous11:02 AM

Not to keep beating this horse but why pray tell is it your job to berate a person that thinks Palin is "hot". It is my personal opinion that his judgement may be a bit flawed or his eyesight deteriorating, however, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there are plenty out there that find Palin attractive. Just because you happen to not does not give you the right to berate someone on his own blog and call him, as you put it "a horny stupid dick" and is just rather rude; it's simply not polite and many of the comments simply were not civil.

It's not surprising that the lack of civility from the commenters was met with a lack of civility on the part of the blog host. He broke the rules by posting the emails, however everyone present on the comment board seemed to be operating emotionally rather than cogently and this can lead to bad decision-making, as was witnessed on both sides. He will be dealt with as Disqus management sees fit, but hopefully lessons were learned.

Healthy debate is just that and there didn't seem to be a lot of healthy debate going on, just name calling and character assassination. We reap what we sow.

    24. jcinco11:04 AM

What is really upsetting is that when I looked at the addresses posted I noticed some were "work" email addresses...I have never commented on ANY blog using my work email. This could be a life changing event for those who have and have had their email address posted. For the one (anon 10:14) alluding that I, I assume, am a politicalgates groupie I rarely visit that site since they & Regina split..not that it's any of your business.

    25. Anonymous11:20 AM

10:36 Anytime there is an article on the net re a palin, you same people are there, dive-bombing the comments. You must sound the alarm at your hive, and then swoop in. The Ron Paul fiends, c4p and you all are infamous as the most immature, potty mouths that pollute the threads. Stop with the faux outrage.

There is no perfect privacy on the internet, so don't say anything you don't want to possibly lead to you. I teach my kids that, don't you?

    26. Anonymous11:27 AM

      Anon 11:02 Amen!
Thank you for the sane post, a breath of fresh air here.

  5. Anonymous7:24 AM

I fail to see how they can call the media pro Obama. Most of the so-called journalists are so republican, it hurts! They all have guests on slamming the President, and just nod their heads in agreement. I quit watching the Sunday talk shows for this reason. Their guests are mainly gop, very few democratic politicians. Too bad it is not like the past, where a person could watch a newscast or a show and wonder if the host was dem. or repub. Now it is glaringly obvious they are mainly gop.

  6. Anonymous7:27 AM

“We need Fox to turn right,”

No. We need FACTS. When did the news in this country decide to become so openly, proudly partisan? This getting out of hand, with MSNBC being the "left" news, Fox the "right" news and CNN somewhere in between?

And now we have a channel "not right enough". Are we so divided as a country now that we have to have our own news channels too?

It really doesn't matter what the facts are anymore when we are fighting for our news to fit our viewpoints better. I have heard these same boycotters saying that they need a more conservative news channel than Fox. That thought sends chills through me.

    We are in such trouble.

  7. Anonymous7:33 AM

“Particularly after the election, Fox keeps turning to the left,”
That has to be the single most stupid thing I've heard lately. Is the man senile, or drunk or both??
FOX has been on a tear to attack the president and Democrats since Nov. 6, 2012. Fox didn't even cover President Obama's 'successful' Israeli trip. They only covered the heckler and called the entire trip "Failed Diplomacy."
Nice try, grandpa. Go back to whacking yourself off to a picture of Sarah Palin, remember to take your Metamucil and heart pills and kiss your Pomeranian on the mouth, again.

  8. Anonymous7:46 AM

'Hjer LIED' is Ironic for a Tea Party spokesman.

  9. @jcinco
That site is vile...not to mention the fact that more than 50% of the comments have been Deleted? Hmmm and here I thought the Palin crowd was for less control and government shoveling and cramming things down our throats, when in fact its THEIR way or your deleted.
Sigh, what a great America where having an opinion gets you hate mail.

For a group of people who spend so much time wailing, rending their garments and gnashing their teeth with claims that this country is turning to socialism or communism (or the newest '-ism' of the day), they sure seem anxious for their media to look like that of North Korea, China, Iran and the former USSR.

Fox Host Urges Republicans To Boycott WH Easter Egg Roll

?? boycott a xtian holiday? They should consider boycotting Big Bird too while they're at it lol.

    1. Anonymous9:37 AM

Would they be okay with it if we crucify a mentally ill person who believes he is the son of god and then bring him back to life in three days?

    2. Anonymous6:38 PM

They think the Spring Egg Hunt is not Christian enough...see, now Obama has a War on Easter (play the haunting musical theme now.) No one bothers to think over there...just make up crap to make dumb people angry. Over nothing. As far as I remember, there was no egg hunt in Jerusalem. And eggs are used as a symbol for the new birth that happens in spring (unless you are a GOP legislator, and then eggs have every right but voting.) So all these 'Christian' holidays they keep harping on are actually pagan seasonal celebrations. But hey, Fox is so far to the right now they lost any attempt at truth years ago.

  13. Anonymous8:51 AM

What? They want the network to only represent a single, narrow point of view? They want nothing but relentless, hate-filled pitchfork campaigns against the President? But... I thought Fox viewers liked "fair and balanced" and the straight up news where "we report, you decide" and the "no spin zones" where viewers are presenting nothing but the straight truth?

The GOP must sorely regret embracing the Tea Party. They are going to have to find a way to cut them loose if they are ever to be taken seriously again. Unfortunately for the GOP all the hard work they've done to gerrymander districts in their favor is not netting them the desired results as these districts are electing Tea Party candidates, not the moderate GOP candidates they need to be their voice in Congress. The Tea Party will be the thing that kills the GOP and leaves the rest of America saddled with even bigger idiots representing us!

Bobby Jindal can plead for the GOP to distance itself from the far right "stupid" contingent until he is blue in the face, but as long as he shows up to speak at far right events such as CPAC he's merely encouraging the virus that is killing his party.

  16. Anonymous10:08 AM

Holy crap! Just found this link in the comments of this story

Is this on the up and up? Would sure explain a lot. Sarah Palin, sexual predator of Shawn Christy.

    1. Anonymous10:50 AM

I've never been certain what Shawn's Mom means when she says that Pain was "sexting" her son. Seems to me that if this was happening on a cellphone or computer that those devices would have been seized during discovery for Shawn's case. Even if the data had been "erased" there truly are no erasures in the computer/cellphone world and data can usually be recovered as evidence. He could have exonerated himself by providing proof that this was happening.

  17. I also reported Sheppard to Blogger.

    Here's the link:

    1. Anonymous11:13 AM

Thank you for the link, I just took screenshots of the vile e-mails the Palin fans sent me.
Sheppard will not get away with what he has done.

    2. jcinco11:15 AM

Thanks Liz. I'm glad you understand why I'm upset. I'm sort of stunned at the sniping attacks I've received here....doesn't really make sense to me.

    3. Anonymous11:29 AM

You guys went and took a dump in someone's living room; it wasn't nice; it was mob behavior. I don't know why you think that just because someone comments here that we would automatically support that kind of activity. Not every commenter here necessarily even agrees with all of what is said within this forum or the comportment of some of the commenters. Just because a person is liberal doesn't mean that we subscribe to groupthink and march in lockstep with others who share our political character. Dissent can be healthy and self-reflection is a necessity.

    4. To Anonymous @ 11:29 AM -
Just to be clear, none of this has anything to do with Gryphen or his blog, but I am grateful that he has allowed us to vent here. Thank you, Gryphen.

I made one post at Sheppard's site yesterday, in response to a blatantly racist remark about Michelle Obama and woke up this morning to 25 emails, some of which I considered to be threatening. My self-reflection tells me that's not simple dissent - that's the action of someone who is unhinged and possibly dangerous.

    5. Anonymous12:14 PM

      Anon 11:29,
I bet you were a hall monitor.

    6. Anonymous12:19 PM

jcinco and others just ignore the sanctimonious scolder at 11:29 11;02 etc.
And I join 2emptynest to thank Gryphen foe letting us vent.
      Thank you Gryphen.

    7. jcinco, just remember that the "sniping" on here is often concern trolls.

There's nothing wrong in commenting, in any language that gets through the site's filters. It's polite to follow the site's commenting guidelines (but Sheppard doesn't have any posted).

If someone posts a comment the blog owner doesn't like, or finds offensive, his/her recourse is to remove it. He/she does NOT have the right to post personal details about a commenter.

Sheppard was giddy when everyone was attacking his post. That's why he left the comments up so long. He only cares about page views for his pathetic site. From his viewpoint, any attention is positive. Very Palinesque.

    8. Anonymous12:40 PM

      12:12pm 2emptynest:

Thing is we KNOW that some of the commenters on the pro Palin sites are very, very serious about protecting Palin's "reputation" and denigrating anyone that disparages her. We KNOW that some of these people operate on the most basic levels of emotional outrage.

If we KNOW this then why poke their nest? The blog host left the front door open and people came in and stirred up some folks of a very hateful nature that responded in a threatening manner. This has happened before and there were no actual physical consequences that I know of.

Still, why put it out there, why poke the hornet's nest, so to speak. Violence is threatened millions of times per day on the world wide web and the multitude of forums within. It happens so often and too frequently for every occurrence to be responded to by law enforcement. It's uncomfortable for those who are targeted and we are always hopeful that those "unhinged" folks by virtue of geographical distance and having time to cool down would never act upon their threatening words. Still though, prudent advice would be to step away from the keyboard and reflect prior to hitting send, because we just never know what might turn someone from a hateful commenter into an actual gun-toting radical. Problem is that each instance can't be properly investigated so it's best not to incite rage in the first place.

    9. Anonymous1:23 PM

      Anon 12:40
Well said, and it bears repeating, lesson well learned.

    10. Anonymous1:25 PM

Never a "hall monitor" as I went to a small boarding school that didn't have hall monitors. I'm simply a person who doesn't buy into people playing the "martyred victimhood card" instead of owning up to their behavior. There's something ironically "Palinesque" about the Palin detractors decrying their treatment and acting as victim after going on the attack against people with differing views. Sarah Palin would be proud.

Not a concern troll either, but a frequent commenter that shares the liberal leanings of the blog host but finds both great sadness and humor in some of the hypocrisy being displayed today.

Don't let your animosity towards Sarah Palin or any of the far right politicians you do not agree with lead you to make stupid and hypocritical choices. When you do that, they win, as is obvious from the butthurt displayed today.

    11. Anita Winecooler1:29 PM

I'm with you, jcino. I just read through the comments in this thread, and mr sheppard was wrong to do what he did.

They crossed a line. If they're so anal about dissenting points of view, they should not be listed on browsers for the public, and they cleearly broke the terms regarding privacy for the chat client they chose.

How (ahem) someone can have their panties in a knot and accuse someone of taking a dump in someone's living room is beyond me.

As Sarah Palin traverses the country over the next few years, she'll reignite the passion that was felt back in Sept 2008 and again in 2010-2011 before opting against a suicide mission.

While we will never hear it from the corrupt national press, she will be gathering a quiet but determined army who will stand beside her as she does battle to rebuild America.

The urban sophisticates who are equally at home in either Barack Obama's Dem party or Jeb Bush's GOP will heap scorn on her and push a multitude of phonies on us, but we've seen this lame act before.

As I figured out by looking at the map and counting electoral votes, a Palin-Cruz ticket could realistically win without any of the Northeast or West Coast centers of decadence and dependency."

Instead, he chose, not only to post the e-mails of the people who's comments he didn't like, he also instructed others to harass them.

Fox News (and recent CNN, since they have yet to address the vilification of the Steubenville Rape Victim by putting halos on the perpetrators) are not what I consider "News" at all.
I have yet to see anyone on Fox news apologize for saying something untrue or hurtful about someone else, nor correcting lies they've been proven to print. I've seen other news sources post retractions, apologies and even proven the sincerity of their words by leaving their show for a period of time.

Fox is to news what wrestling is to sports.
