Thanks for sharing the valuable perspective from Syria! If only we could be more sensitive to their plight and that of peace-seeking citizens of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Israel, and on and on....

The problem is that our media does not cover world news as it covers our own. It is so easy to lose perspective and curiosity if yoou are brow-beaten with th e same old some old. It is not so much we are being dumb-downed directly, but we are becoming desensitized and isolated by becoming fed sensationalist or ginned-up crises to feed upon. When I was growing up, the boradcast networks and newspapers researched and conveyed worldwide issues. We have become victims of corporate media. they like to keep the focus on entertaining newsw, chitchat or endless droning on about only one or two issues. We need to demand and expect more. Otherwise, our nation will be regarded as a has-been like the British Empire. We need our national curiosity back.

After reading all the hate-filled "suggestions" and rhetoric from those so-called "patriots" over at the peepond... this is a welcome, positive sight.

    Thanks for posting it!

I haven't even thought to visit the peepond since the bombing. This is real life, they are just a bunch of fantasy bullcrap. The further I keep them away from Boston, the better. They belong to the past.

It's events like this that are timeless, in that we all weep and laugh in the same language.

The other unbelievable domestic terrorists of last week were the owners of the West, TX fertilizer plant, who illegally were storing several tons of ammonium nitrate -- not reported to the Dept. of Homeland Security or the EPA. Anything more than 400 lbs. is supposed to be registered and supervised. Their violation of the law has caused at least 14 deaths, hundreds of injuries, and leveled a town. The plant's owners should be locked up and punished for the rest of their natural lives.

In a breathtaking act of prejudice, Oz Mudflats are ready to give the killer a pass based on his looks.

  10. I always wonder about signs written in English shown in countries where the official/traditional language is Arabic. Photoshop?
    I don't know.
