In this picture I see three great Presidents, one mediocre one, a national embarrassment, and our next best hope for the future.

I watched as much as I could of the dedication of the George W. Bush library today, but I had to stop because of medical reasons, in that every time somebody complimented him I banged my head on my desk until I almost passed out.

Every one of the people in that picture up above, some of them who I greatly admire, kissed his ass and made nice until my gag reflex went into hyper-drive.

And the whole time I kept thinking, "A library? They built him a library? What's it full of coloring books and one famous version of "My Pet Goat?"

But then I found this graphic on Reddit, and it all made sense.

Ahh, now I get it!

By the way I NEVER agree with the Bush family on anything, but I have to admit that I am in (almost)total agreement with Barbara Bush:

Appearing in an interview from Dallas on NBC's Today show, Mrs. Bush, the wife of President George H.W. Bush, was asked if she thought that her son Jeb, the former governor of Florida, should seek the presidency.

"He's by far the best qualified," Mrs. Bush said, "but no."

"We've had enough Bushes," she said.

Okay well obviously I don't agree with the most qualified bit, but I am all over that last line.

Books? Books? He don't read no stinking' books. Mad Magazine, now I'll go along with that, maybe. Archie comic books? Now we're talking 'bout W.

There is going to be something very unique about this library that is unlike any other presidential library.

All of the books and other materials are going to be shelved upside down.

(And yes, I know that picture was a hoax, but it exemplifies the essence of that particular POTUS!)

Say what you will about Barbara B. (and I've said a few not so flattering things about her)---she is going to say what exactly it is on her mind . . . Sometimes
its offensive, sometimes she speaks a truth.

she turned a blind eye at G/W/H/"s affairs, but she might know too much about Jeb Bush's love affairs and hope that he doesn't run, since they'll clearly become public. Enough Bushes is enough.

I don't like Barbara Bush any more than the rest of them. I remember very clearly her disdainful dismissal of Eleanor Roosevelt when she became First Lady. She is an incredible snob, outspoken but a snob.

I wonder what the numbers will be, of attendees, at this location through the upcoming years. He is one of the most disliked presidents we have had in recent times.

Helen Philpot doubts whether there are any books at all in the George W. Bush library beyond 'My Pet Goat' (which he has learned by heart).

I find this a disgrace and embarrassment for our nation. At least, bush paintings are funny and creepy. One landscape was actually not half bad amateur work.
DO NOT READ THIS, it looks too fact-checked. Halliburton http://www.madcowprod.com/2013/04/24/boston-bombers-uncle-ruslan-was-halliburton-contractor/

Too bad Cheney wasn't able to join them and do some wheelies with Poppy Bush.

President and Mrs. Obama are top notch. They always looks so good. More terrific is they are as authentic as it gets both inside and outside.

I watched that Texan being interviewed on Chris Hayes and he said it all....its the billionaire whitewash library. Built by secret donations, but the maintenance is on the taxpayer. Obama has more grace in his little pinky than all the Bushes put together...damn I couldnt watch it today. History will show him as the worst president ever...period.

Great post Gryphen, thanks. And I did hear that the Bush library contains the worlds largest coloring book collection.

Personally, I'm thinking Babs has had enough of the Bushes, too and meant it as a dig. "He [Jeb} is the most qualified [of the Bushes.]"

    1. I don't think she meant it as a dig to the other Bushes, she was saying Jeb is the most qualified of the OTHER Republican and Democratic hopefuls.

  16. Bill Clinton was our first Baby Boomer president. It would be fitting for Hillary was the last before the Presidency is turned over to to next generation.

I watched a little of it, would have loved to be a fly on the wall as President Obama was "chatting up" Babs Senior. Of all the Bushes, I've always had a shred of respect for Babs Senior. GWBush is painting his feet under running water in a bathtub, rumor has it Bab's Senior slapped it on the fridge door with a magnet.

  18. I find it interesting that the picture includes a father & son but also (eventually will be) husband & wife who have both been/will be President.

I do wish one of those softball interveiwers had asked him when we can expect his first foreign trip as ex-President (and international war criminal.) Just to watch him squirm.

It is always interesting to me the anger the Christian right has at Carter, the only truly practicing Christian to ever be elected. They cannot abide the man.

I always find it fascinating that the right hates Carter so much when he is the only true Christian ever elected. He lived his (and their) beliefs and they can't stand a moral, peace-loving man who tried to make the world a better place without bombing someone to death.

Yes, Carter may have been too moral to be a "great president," but he surely is a great man! Bush is playing golf and painting during his post white house years. Carter is building homes for people - literally, with his own hands.

I couldn't bring myself to watch it either. I did watch Jon Stewart though and he was very funny.

I see the biggest fool elected by mindless iditots who cannot think for themselves on the far right - whan an ironic place for that moron to be. They won't be able to build a library big enough for his mistakes. God bless the Bush presidents. Clinton wasn't that bad. Carter - good man but bad president - but Obama is a fool and so is ANYONE who voted for him!
