The President Obama Today Show interview that has gone viral.

I liked this interview, though I did think that the President let "W" off a little too easy. But then again he is known for his diplomacy.

That idea about the tattoos is hilarious, but he better be careful because his daughters might call his bluff.

My daughter for instance has been campaigning for us to get matching tattoos for years now.

She thinks it would be an awesome bonding experience, and I see it as the end of any chance for future romance in my life.

    1. I "googled" around, and you have no idea how disappointed I am that I can't find a picture of this future son-in-law without that hat. I'll bet he has some awesome dreads under there.

Hey Gryphen, any woman who decides not to get involved with you because of a tat isn't worth your time. I'm sure that if you DID decide to get one, you would do so prudently and in good taste, which is how you seem to live your life.

    1. agreed! anyone petty enough to dismiss a potentially genuine romantic connection over a tattoo (which you have because YOU wanted it!) actually doesn't have a very solid connection to you after all....

but do only get a tatt if you personally love it visually, not just what it symbolizes emotionally with your daughter or other loved ones.

if you DO want one, but the design isn't quite right yet, well then wait, work on it, and search for an artist you like (stylistically) and trust.

i recommend drawing (or getting it drawn up if doing so is outside your skill set) your idea and then pondering it for a few years unless you already have a lot of tattoos. if you still want that same first or second tattoo design a few years down the road go ahead and get it! that artist you've found in the meantime will help you perfect it into something you can be proud to have! also, great tattoos are expensive for a reason, don't forget this ;)

I LOVE what President Obama, Daddy Barack, has stated about his girls and tattoos, though. It's a perfect way to foil any plans they might have.

Personally, I'm not at all a fan of tattoos, especially on women and girls. I think skin is the most beautiful thing on the body and to mar it with black ink, even colored ink really makes the wearer look cheap, most especially on women. Sorry if that offends anyone, but that is just how I feel. It's kind of disgusting when you see beautiful dresses on the red carpet with arms and chests and backs and legs exposed and the image is destroyed by tattoos all over their skin. Or beautiful, clear, healthy skin in swim suits with nasty black ink everywhere to be seen. And UGH a tattoo on aging, sagging skin is so vile, it makes me sick.

It's a trend, a fad, that I would have liked to see not become so commonplace for women. I'm always impressed when actresses choose NOT to mark up their bodies in this fashion, it lets me know that they have a stronger self worth that those who follow this skin damaging trend.

Call me sexist, but within reason, I don't have a problem with a man having a tattoo somewhere on his body, and I don't mean plastered on every available patch of skin. But for women I think it's a terrible mistake that they will regret down the road.

Hookers and strippers have been doing it for years. Biker chicks and redneck women have been doing it for years. Those that aren't in those professions and life styles risk being compared to the lowlife, self-hatred images those poor women struggle with.

There is simply NOTHING that is classy about a tattoo. Nothing. Trendy? Yes. Classy. Nope.

    1. Not long ago (speaking of tattoos), a young woman I knew got what I considered a fairly cute tattoo of a cartoonish little elephant on her arm. She told me she planned on having it "zombified" in the future, which I hope I talked her out of. Zombies may be all the rage with kids now, but wow, I hate to think of her having to live with that ugly thing when zombies are no longer trendy. Frankly, I thought it was perfect just like it was.

    2. heidi klum and angelina jolie are both beautiful women who also have black ink work that is beautiful by itself AND in how it was placed on their bodies.

and they are also super successful by ANY modern standard of wealth, fame, business acumen, charitable work, and parenting.... you can have a tattoo and STILL be anyone from any social class. period.

and sure, some tattoos are well done art and others are horrible pieces -as far as the artist's skill and/or the recipient's subject and style choice are all concerned, -but that is all somewhat subjective!

it's fine for you to not like tattoos, or women who have them, but skin art has been a part of humanity for many thousands of years. in many societies certain tattoos (including facial designs) were exclusive markers of the highest social classes. to pretend otherwise simply reveals you to be ignorant of the wide span of global standards of beauty over time, including our own time!

if you don't like tattoos, scarifications, and/or other body mods then just don't get any and don't date people who did, but DON'T think you are superior to "marked up" humans based on this one difference between you and them......

    4. p.s. anony 5:40-

your post seems to reveal a bit of a "clean young skin" fetish... and hey, that's cool if that's your own kink and you can indulge it only with always consenting adults, then enjoy yourself!

but know that a lust for "beautiful, clear, healthy skin" above all other "sexy" things may just be your own lill' kink, and thus NOT a valid reason to judge any-and-all humans with skin marked by self-chosen body-mods, OR those with genetic or other skin conditions!

people with skin that is not "sexy to you" can still be "classy" human beings, just so you know....

8:57 - I have my brother's initials on my wrist. We held hands a lot when we were kids. I never wanted to forget how precious life is, how little the little stuff means, and how special he was to me.

Angelina looks trashy with all her ink, she was much more attractive before she got all marked up. I don't know any thing about Klum.

He's at his best when the interview is casual, Ms Guthrie did a great job picking questions!

I'm in my fifties and have a few tattoos (tastefully done, and in discreet places), and don't have any regrets nor do I judge others who have them all over. But I like his idea for his kids, there's no way I'd want my kids ink, if they decide to do them, to match mine.

Yeah, he went easy on GW. Saw a clip of Dianne Sawyer interviewing him at his library (like he READS) and both he and Laura looked like they were sweating bullets.

Chill! tattoo or no tattoo, when you're 80 yrs old your skin is saggy anyway. unless you inject them with a drum of botox jell.

I have a big tattoo on my butt which I finally got the nerve to show my mother years ago. She said "honey what are you gonna do when you are old and you are in the nursing home and your butt is all saggy?" I said I would probably be excited if I could manage to see my own butt. Plus it's gonna sag if I live long enough so it may as well have some cool ink.
