You know seeing somebody as professional as Rachel Maddow become so overcome with emotion that she can barely finish the interview made this even more poignant and gut wrenching. If your eyes are dry at the end then you are a stronger person than I.
The fact that men like this have to actually talk to members of the U.S. Congress to encourage them to vote opposite of the way they previously did on this issue makes me madder than hell!
ReplyDeleteWe have a horrid U.S. Congress and the majority of them badly need to be replaced...especially the Republicans beginning w/Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, etc. We need majority Dems in office back there badly!!!
What EVIL EVIL creatures are our Congress.
ReplyDeleteThe only way to make the gun makers and buyers pay is to tax the living krap out of them. Make a super high state tax when a gun is purchased and make it law to have expensive insurance. All that money going to pay for hospitals, funerals and eduation. Make bullets really, really expensive with taxes...it is like everything else, only money talks with these evil bastards. It is downright insanity hearing all those children being killed....omg, you would think you are in some other century with the Wild West. You can't own or drive a car without a license or insurance...or a boat, or hunt/fish. The gun lobby is just like tobacco...and we finally taxed the krap out of them, I just hope it doesn't take as long.
ReplyDeleteRepublican congressmen prove again and again that they are just plain evil. They embody evil. They are not representatives of "the people," they are whores for corporations. They are disgusting, and if there's a hell they will rot in it. And that would still be too good for them.
ReplyDeleteAm fortunate to live in one of the few parts of the country that has both US Senators and my US Representative on board for gun reform. However, gun violence is epidemic--two young people (one an innocent bystander) were gunned down in broad daylight last week in the town next to ours. As a mom and a grandma, I am sad and I am angry. Among other things, I am going to work my butt off to get people into office who are pro gun reform. #AsLongAsItTakes
ReplyDeleteI've rarely seen Rachel almost at a loss for words, and I can't blame her in the least. Seeing the grieving families attacked so callously and ignored by politicians with an agenda,( and even the heartless buffoon from Wasilla in her NRA speech) is hard to watch.
ReplyDeleteDid this father say he wants to take away their 2nd amendment rights? Take away their right to bear arms? No. He's a father who lost a child and turning his grief publicly for a good cause. For his kids, each of those children featured by Rachel, our kids, and all kids. All he wants is an answer.
How hard is it to return a call? Answer an email? I know these people must have kids and consciences, so what are they afraid/ashamed of?
I'm just sick of seeing good kids get shot by good kids because they have access to guns that belong to irresponsible adults.
Gabby's cause raised 11 million in 4 months, and I doubt all of it came from big donors. It's far from over, but how many more needless deaths do we have to see before things change?
