Sandy Hook parents are suing Alex Jones for accusing them of being "crisis actors."

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Alex Jones has spent years claiming the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School ― where a shooter killed 20 small children and six adults ― was faked. He has claimed the parents of these dead children are liars and “crisis actors.”

Now, those parents are coming after him.

In a pair of lawsuits filed late Monday, the parents of two children who died in the December 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, say Jones’ repeated lies and conspiratorial ravings have led to death threats. The suits join at least two other recent cases accusing the Infowars host of defamation.

Neil Heslin, the father of a 6-year-old boy killed in the shooting, and Leonard Pozner and Veronique De La Rosa, who lost their own little boy, filed the suits in Austin, Texas, where Jones’ conspiracy-minded media outlet is based. Each suit is seeking more than $1 million in damages from Jones, Infowars and a related company, Free Speech Systems LLC. Infowars reporter Owen Shroyer is also named in one of the suits.

“Even after these folks had to experience this trauma, for the next five years they were tormented by Alex Jones with vicious lies about them,” Mark Bankston, the lawyer handling the cases for the parents, told HuffPost. “And these lies were meant to convince his audience that the Sandy Hook parents are frauds and have perpetrated a sinister lie on the American people.”

Jesus, it's about time.

For those who may be unaware of just how far Jones went in smearing the memory of these dead children, prepare to be horrified:

In 2013, Jones called the shooting “staged” and said, “It’s got inside job written all over it.”

In March 2014, Jones said, “I’ve looked at it and undoubtedly there’s a cover-up, there’s actors, they’re manipulating, they’ve been caught lying, and they were pre-planning before it and rolled out with it.”

In December 2014, Jones said on his radio program, “The whole thing is a giant hoax.”

Jones continued: “The general public doesn’t know the school was actually closed the year before. They don’t know they’ve sealed it all, demolished the building. They don’t know that they had the kids going in circles in and out of the building as a photo-op. Blue screen, green screens, they got caught using.”

Making it clear he didn’t view the occurrence of the shooting as an open question, Jones explicitly said that the Obama administration was behind the shooting, noting, “It took me about a year with Sandy Hook to come to grips with the fact that the whole thing was fake.”

Clearly one of the most disgusting assholes on this planet.

Jones is also being sued by a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School he incorrectly identified as the shooter.

Yeah, that also happened.

A no pulling our punches comic to start your day.

I don't really have anything more to add than to say that this is just as gross as it is accurate.

Megyn Kelly's interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is blowing up in her face.

So Megyn Kelly, a recent NBC hire after walking away from Fox News, has an interview with Info Wars Alex Jones airing this next Sunday night.

However the blowback on this thing has now reached epic levels.

First off she is under fire from at least on parent of a Sandy Hill shooting victim.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

NBC’s Megyn Kelly is under fire for her one-on-one interview with Infowars’s Alex Jones.

One of the immediate critics is a mother whose daughter was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, a massacre that Jones has dismissed as a government hoax.

Nelba Márquez-Greene saw the interview, scheduled to air Sunday — Father’s Day — as an “egregious offense” to fathers whose children were murdered Dec. 14, 2012, in Newtown, Conn.

“To give Alex Jones a platform on Father’s Day is especially cruel to me,” she told The Washington Post.

Since Jones has claimed that the shooting was fake and no children actually died, one can understand this mother's anger.

Kelly responded to these comments with this tweet:
However that was not good enough for the organizers of the Promise Champions Gala, an event that raises money for the gun violence prevention group the Sandy Hook Promise foundation, who have now dropped Kelly as their host this year.

It was also not good enough for JP Morgan who has now pulled their ads from NBC News over this controversy.

This has led others to call for the firing of Megyn Kelly, and the revelation that so far Kelly has been a "ratings disaster" for the network:

“NBC is freaking out,” a source told Radar. “They didn’t pay her $15 million for this. They are now worried that her numbers will be bad when she joins the 9 am hour of Today.”

“If Kelly tanks at 9 am she will also bring down Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb at 10am,” warned the source.

In order to do damage control, producers are scrambling to land Kelly some major “gets” to improve the 46-year-old journalist’s ratings.

Personally I have no idea why NBC and MSNBC keep hiring these Fox News cast offs.

They have zero journalistic integrity and they bring with them years of baggage from their time at Fox News.
I for one will NEVER watch any show that Megyn Kelly hosts, just like I have never watched Greta Van Susteren since her move to MSNBC.

Call me a snob but I like my journalism to have actual journalism in it.

Sandy Hook denier who sent death threats to parent of shooting victim sent to jail.

Courtesy of CBC News:

A Florida woman pleaded guilty and was sent to prison Wednesday for threatening a man whose six-year-old son was killed in the 2012 mass shooting at a Connecticut school, which she contended was a hoax.

Senior U.S. District Judge James Cohn sentenced Lucy Richards, 57, to five months in prison, followed by five months of home detention. She pleaded guilty to interstate transmission of a threat to injure in communications with Lenny Pozner, the father of Noah Pozner, who died in the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Cohn called Richards's actions toward Pozner "disturbing" and said no one should cite a conspiracy theory or belief in a hoax in the deaths of 20 children and six adults that occurred at the school.

"I'm sure he wishes this was false and he could embrace Noah, hear Noah's heartbeat and hear Noah say 'I love you, Dad'," Cohn told Richards. "Your words were cruel and insensitive. This is reality and there is no fiction. There are no alternative facts."

Investigators say Richards made four voicemail and email threats to Pozner on Jan. 10, 2016, after viewing internet sites claiming the shooting was a hoax aimed at curtailing Americans' Second Amendment gun ownership rights. The messages said things such as "you gonna die, death is coming to you real soon" and "LOOK BEHIND YOU IT IS DEATH."

I pushed this story back a day because of the Comey hearing, but I think it is important to remind all of us that these people are still out there, living in an entirely separate reality than the rest of us.

We even see them here on IM sometimes, people who simply cannot accept the facts as they are, and who create a cocoon of ignorance and denial that makes them feel safe and comforted.

But as we see in this incident these people can also be dangerous, and with one of their tribe of conspiracy theorists now occupying the White House I would imagine that is now perhaps more true than ever before.

Chelsea Clinton speaks about her mother's commitment to helping to create responsible gun control laws. Right Wing freakout in 3..2..wait already happening.

“It matters to me that my mom also recognizes the role the Supreme Court has when it comes to gun control. With Justice Scalia on the bench, one of the few areas where the Court actually had an inconsistent record relates to gun control,” Clinton said. “Sometimes the Court upheld local and state gun control measures as being compliant with the Second Amendment and sometimes the Court struck them down. So if you listen to Moms Demand Action, and the Brady Campaign, and major efforts pushing for smart, sensible, and enforceable gun control gun control across our country. Who in full disclosure have endorsed my mom. They say they believe that the next time the Court rules on gun control it will make a definitive ruling. So it matters to me that my mom's the only person running for President who not only constantly makes that connection, but also has a strong record on gun control and standing up to the NRA. This is one of those issues I did not know I could care about more until I became a mother. And I think every day about the Sandy Hook families whose children every day don't come home from school. And I can't even imagine that living horror and tragedy."

Well put right? I think Chelsea did a pretty admirable job of making the case that her mom is the right choice if we want to help prevent more tragedies like Sandy Hook, or Columbine, or other mass shootings we have seen lately by creating more responsible and reasonable gun control laws.

Don't you agree?

Well if you do that is because you are an anti-2nd Amendment, "gun grabbing," liberal, latte drinking, Prius driving, traitor hell bent on destroying the very fabric of American society.

At least according to Right Wing news sites like WND, Gateway Pundit, and Cain TV.

Here are a few of the less profane comments gleaned from those outlets:

The left is coming after your guns. This is not a conspiracy. They’re actually saying it.

Wave buh-bye to your rights.

Just stay home, make lots of babies and leave us the FU*K alone!

The only reason Chelsea survived the Hollary Perp's serial abortion Chop Shop is that mommy dumbest needed a political prop on Bill the Rapist's advice. True story.

Okay it really just gets worse from there but you get the idea.

I actually think that Hilary showed real courage in making gun control a central part of her campaign.

She knows that this will energize the wing nuts and inspire the NRA to spend many millions of dollars to defeat her and yet she's doing it anyway.

Sandy Hook families case against gun makers will go forward.

Courtesy of CT Mirror:

A Connecticut state judge's decision Thursday allowing a lawsuit to go forward against the maker of the Bushmaster rifle used in the Sandy Hook killings focused attention on a law that Connecticut lawmakers – and now Hillary Clinton – hope to repeal.

Remington Arms, maker of the Bushmaster rifle used to kill 20 first-graders and six staff members at Sandy Hook, is relying in its defense of the suit on a law Congress passed in 2005. Known as the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, or PLCAA, it protects gun manufacturers and dealers from liability when crimes are committed with their products.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., is hoping Congress repeals the law so it can't be decisive in the lawsuit, though there is virtually no chance of a repeal in the present Congress.

The families of some of the children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School won a victory Thursday when Connecticut state Judge Barbara Bellis rejected the gun companies’ motion to dismiss the case citing PLCAA. She said the immunity granted the gun makers and dealers does not strip her court of jurisdiction to hear the case.

“It’s a very positive step, possibly historic,” Blumenthal said. “I think we should be very glad and grateful that the Sandy Hook families have demonstrated this courage and strength.”

Good news for the Sandy Hook families, and for Americans as a whole.

Not such good news for Bernie Sanders who voted in favor of the law.

Bernie Sanders comes under fire for remarks concerning suing gun manufacturers.

Courtesy of New York Daily News:

Presidential populist Bernie Sanders came under blistering fire Tuesday for opposing efforts by families of Sandy Hook shooting victims to sue gun manufacturers.

Sanders, in an exclusive interview with the Daily News last week, said, “No, I don’t,” when asked if victims of a crime with a gun should be able to sue the manufacturer.

This of course elicited a response from Hillary Clinton who said:

“I was against it, and he was for it, to give immunity from liability to gunmakers and sellers,” front-runner Hillary Clinton told supporters at a campaign event at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. “We can reverse this, and 92% of Americans and 85% of gun owners agree that we should.”

However she was not the only one to have sharp words for Sanders over his response.

Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy said the public doesn’t need “apologists for the NRA.” “He is just wrong,” Malloy, criticizing Sanders, told The News.

“He is dead wrong on guns. He had an opportunity to educate the people of Vermont about guns. Vermont is small enough that he could have gone house to house to educate people about guns.”

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy took to Twitter to shoot down Sanders’ gun stance, saying the presidential candidate is out of line.

“For Sanders to say that the Sandy Hook families should be barred from court, even if the weapon was negligently made, is wrong,” Murphy tweeted.

“Bernie is a friend, but this is really bad. Dems can’t nominate a candidate who supports gun manufacturer immunity.

As you know I am not a single issue voter, and I think single issue voters are idiots, however dealing with the shocking number of shooting deaths that we have in America, and the overwhelming number of guns in the hands of people who should never have even one in their possession, is a priority that I think most liberals have in common.

Personally after reading that New York Daily News interview with Sanders I cannot for the life of me understand why anybody still supports him in this race.

I guess cognitive dissonance is not only a trait to be found among the conservatives in this country.

President Obama talks about the first time he ever saw Secret Service agents cry.

So I guess according to the Right Wing that the Secret Service agents were faking it so that President Obama can grab their guns.

Or perhaps they simply believe that he would talk about this publicly if it were not true?

I have to say that as macho as I like to think I am, if I were standing in a room filled with parents grieving the loss of their five and six year old children, while holding the hands of those dead children's brothers and sisters I would be bawling like a three year old.

And I would not be embarrassed to be seen doing it.

And finally remembering the three year anniversary of Sandy Hook.

Courtesy of NBC News:

There are at least 555 reasons to ask whether American children are safer from gun violence today than they were three years ago, when the unthinkable happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

That's how many kids under the age of 12 have died from gunshots — both intentional and accidental — since Adam Lanza stormed into the school in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012, and shot dead 20 children and six staff members, according to an NBC News analysis.

That figure, derived from news reports, other publicly available information and data from the Gun Violence Archive, is likely significantly lower than the true number of child gun deaths, as suicides often are not covered by news media and other gun deaths sometimes go unreported. Even so, it works out to a rate of just under one death of a child by firearm every two days in this country.

I don't know about all of you but the massacre at Sandy Hook hit me almost as hard as the attacks of 9-11.

Just like 2001 I was riveted to my TV, completely unable to fathom what I was seeing.

And then I thought, "Well this is it. Surely NOW we will start working on comprehensive gun legislation to keep our children safe from another attack like this one."

And I could not have been more wrong.

It was not that there were more victims in the Newtown shooting than in other massacres before it, but these were babies. Surely that would be enough to shock people out of their complacency and get the country angry and frightened enough to insist that we do something.

Something perhaps like what Australia had done in the wake of THEIR mass killing.

But that didn't happen.

Instead NRA President Wayne LaPierre blamed the politicians and the schools themselves:

" Politicians pass laws for gun free school zones, they issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them. And, in doing so, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk."

Sarah Palin responded by suggesting no real answer to gun violence other than more prayer:

Unspeakable evil slammed America in the beautiful little town of Newtown, Connecticut, just days ago. No words can express the collective shock and sorrow shared by Americans who know the murder of innocent children is the most horrendous crime imaginable. The Connecticut state motto, “Qui transtulit sustinet,” promises that only God can sustain us. Though still insufficient and unfulfilling for the grieving families of these beautiful babies in the Lord's arms now, perhaps those words are all the inconsolable loved ones can hold on to at this time. May God show His sustaining love to them right now. Please Lord.

(Palin also claims in her book "Good Tidings and Great Joy" that she responded to the calls for more gun laws after Sandy Hook, by buying Todd a new gun.)

Other conservative politicians responded in similarly cowardly ways, as did a few Democrats, and then of course we have the Sandy Hook Truthers who simply refuse to believe the attack happened at all.

However it was President Obama who went to Newtown and tried to comfort the people who had lost loved ones and try to ease their pain:

The president took a deep breath and steeled himself, and went into the first classroom. And what happened next I’ll never forget.

Person after person received an engulfing hug from our commander in chief. He’d say, “Tell me about your son. . . . Tell me about your daughter,” and then hold pictures of the lost beloved as their parents described favorite foods, television shows, and the sound of their laughter. For the younger siblings of those who had passed away—many of them two, three, or four years old, too young to understand it all—the president would grab them and toss them, laughing, up into the air, and then hand them a box of White House M&M’s, which were always kept close at hand. In each room, I saw his eyes water, but he did not break.

And then the entire scene would repeat—for hours. Over and over and over again, through well over a hundred relatives of the fallen, each one equally broken, wrecked by the loss. After each classroom, we would go back into those fluorescent hallways and walk through the names of the coming families, and then the president would dive back in, like a soldier returning to a tour of duty in a worthy but wearing war. We spent what felt like a lifetime in those classrooms, and every single person received the same tender treatment. The same hugs. The same looks, directly in their eyes. The same sincere offer of support and prayer.

The staff did the preparation work, but the comfort and healing were all on President Obama. I remember worrying about the toll it was taking on him. And of course, even a president’s comfort was woefully inadequate for these families in the face of this particularly unspeakable loss. But it became some small measure of love, on a weekend when evil reigned.

In the end there were a few laws passed in Connecticut, New York, and Maryland, but nothing on the Federal level.

And here we sit, three years later, just as vulnerable as we were on December 14, 2012.

In fact it could be argued with this push for increased gun ownership and more conceal carry permits in the wake of recent terrorist attacks that the possibility for another school, mall, or theater mass shooting has only increased.

Because despite what the NRA might tell you, more guns mean more bullets, and more bullets mean more people killed and wounded.

It's just math.

Sandy Hook truthers post personal information of victim's sister, who they believe is actually a "false flag" actress.

We normally don't like to post these kind of things, we try to keep everything positive here, but this just needs to be...
Posted by Victoria Leigh Soto on Saturday, December 5, 2015
Courtesy of Raw Story:

Truthers accusing Carlee Soto, the sister of slain teacher Vicki Soto, of being a “crisis actor” have been posting her name, birth date and address on Instagram. “Crisis actor” is a term used by conspiracy theorists who believe the massacre at the elementary school was staged by the government as pretense for taking away guns. Twenty small children and six school staffers were killed in the attack. Vicki Soto died heroically, shielding her students.

Family members of Vicki Soto have been harassed since the massacre, but told Raw Story it’s never gone to the extent of having addresses posted online.

Instagram users are sharing a post that reveals contact and family information, including names of Soto’s mother, siblings and husband, and their social media user names.

“The Dox Of All Doxes!” the post reads. “The whole world is wondering about this girl who pops up on every major attack around the world. She has been on every media around the world crying her eyes. She have raised too many question amongst everyone. It was time to finally put an end to it and reveal everything about her. I want her to remember my name… for the rest of her life. She have been Exposed. Make this Viral.”

It then shows Carlee Soto’s home address, and says “Enjoy family.”

Apparently the reason behind this is the unshakable belief by certain people that Carlee Soto is an actress who has played the grieving survivor at a number of mass shooting scenes, all in an elaborate attempt by President Obama to take guns away from the American people.

Of course Snopes has already debunked this bizarre conspiracy, going so far as to identify each INDIVIDUAL girl in the above graphic. But nothing seems to deter these folks from clinging to their absolute faith that the government and anti-gun crowd are trying to pull a fast one.

You know the thing that really irritates me about this kind of thing, besides of course the revealing of personal information, is that it undermines actual skulduggery that takes place, like Palin faking her last pregnancy.

Do you know when I was interviewed by The Anchorage Press five years ago they started off the interview by asking me what other conspiracy theories I believed in?

And that essentially set the tone for the entire article, which was, as you might imagine, far from fair and balanced.

That is the problem with these people who are open to believing every far fetched, fact free, assertion made by their crazy aunt on Facebook or Twitter.

There ARE actually some conspiracies to fool the American people, the lead up to the Iraq War was one of them, but once you slap the label of "conspiracy theory" on them (Such as "Trig Truther.), and categorize them along with these outlandish claims, then people simply stop listening despite whatever evidence you might bring to the table.

(P.S. By the way has anybody else noticed that Snopes has never delivered a ruling on Palin's pregnancy? Interesting, don't you think?

Well I may be relatively unimpressed with Martin O'Malley, but Sarah Palin certainly sees him as a threat. Update!

Courtesy of Panic Stricken Annie's Facebook page:

Yet another anti-freedom politician jumps in the race today for POTUS.  As cool as he is with his rock 'n roll persona, this typical liberal's erroneous grasp of our Bill of Rights merely continues the strange and disastrous agenda of Barack Obama. Good to know he doesn't have much chance of winning. (And yet you felt the need to quickly dash out this Facebook post?) The democrats have greased the skids for their chosen one, despite the media games that play the public with various "competing" campaigns used for gamey distractions.

With today's more-of-the-same distract-sphere – with the politician sounding exactly like all the others – don't you wonder if there are ANY good old fashioned Blue Dog democrats who can represent the left’s party in the 2016 race? I feel kind of bad for democrats who are as embarrassed about their party leaving them as some of us Republicans are about our own party when we hear the GOP talk a good game but dishonorably capitulate when given the majority power to stop Obama's nonsense. (Can you say "projection?")

By now, most of those ol' Reagan democrats have come to realize that it was the party of Lincoln and Reagan all these years fighting for and winning the abolishment of slavery, civil rights for all Americans, equal rights for women, free markets, individual liberty, constitutional protections, private sector job growth, and a sensible foreign policy rooted in peace through strength. (Yes well the Republican party of Abraham Lincoln is certainly NOT the Republican party of today. Today's Republican party is working hard undermine the civil rights of those unlike themselves, not fight for them.) For those who still identify as democrats, it’s quite easy to bid a deceptive party an overdue farewell. Just tell me what state you're a resident of, and I'll post links to your voter registration office. Click on it. There you can finally bust free of a party that’s long since abandoned you. I recommend then registering "independent," or the equivalent of, in your state. Your newfound sweet freedom will empower you!  (So to be clear Palin is trying to convince Democrats to leave their party. Does anybody else smell the sweet sweet smell of desperation?)

Here's just one reason to do it: abolishing your name from the liberal's roll chips away at the democrat party's foundation that actually supports un-American acts like this:

(Palin then links to an internal DOJ report dated January 4. 2013, that addressed the Newtown shooting and considered some options for preventing further incidents of that sort in the future. Apparently this is a reason for panic in Palin-land.)

This report ran in an old news cycle, but it remains relevant until a constitutional conservative leads our exceptional nation; for as long as the far left retains power via their numbers, the extent that they are willing to go to trample our Bill of Rights only grows.

- Sarah Palin

As you can see Palin, and her ghostwriter, cannot even bear to mention O'Malley by name, but since he is the only one to have announced today it kind of narrows the choices.

So my takeaway from this, beyond my abject surprise at how agitated O'Malley's announcement made Palin, is that she is losing her shit over the realization that the Republicans simply do NOT have anybody who can really take Hillary on.

Which I have to admit kind of makes my day.

Update:  Well this definitely makes me like O'Malley a bit more. Looks like he can give as good as he gets.

"We’re raising a generation of mass killers." NRA seminar teaches that guns are not the danger, children are the danger.

Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, professor of "Killology."

Courtesy of Think Progress:

“Sandy Hook is just the beginning. We’re raising a generation of mass killers.”

Lt. Col. Dave Grossman repeated those lines to a crowd of hundreds at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Nashville on Saturday, telling the gun owners to fear for themselves and their families and that the only solution is to arm all of our citizens.

“Can we take the lessons learned in Columbine and Jonesboro and Virginia Tech? Can we take the lessons learned on 9/11 and in Sandy Hook Elementary School? Or do we have to wait until our kids die?” Grossman asked the audience during a seminar called “Sheepdogs! The Bulletproof Mind for the Armed Citizen.”

Grossman then went on to lay out each school shooting in graphic detail, while suggesting that; “you’re going to see daycare massacres and school bus massacres.”  Before summing up with this:

“Folks, we have raised a vicious, vicious generation of children,” he said. “They have given us crimes on children like nothing in human history. Sandy Hook is just the beginning. Our founding fathers knew there would be days like this… And they created the Second Amendment for just a time like this. And in the midst of all that, the politicians want to disarm our citizens. That is flat out treason.”

So to be clear the problem is NOT easy access to deadly weaponry, it's simply that children are inherently dangerous these days.

I would assume that Grossman bases this idea on the assertion that today's video games make kids more violent, even though research has proven that is a false premise.

Another false premise is the idea that more guns make us safer. They don't.

By the way this Grossman character claims to have founded a new academic field called, and I kid you not, "Killology."

You know considering the ravings of this lunatic, along with that other guy who claims that Americans need to harden themselves against the death screams of the people they gun down, I'm beginning to think this NRA conference sends out a very dangerous message.

Nah, I'm probably being too sensitive.

Sandy Hook truther arrested for making harassing phone calls to the school staff.

Courtesy of WFSB:

A man accused of leaving harassing phone messages for the staff of the Sandy Hook Elementary School faced a judge on Wednesday.

Timothy Rogalski, 30, of Wallingford, was arrested on Tuesday, according to police.

The staff of the school, which is located in Monroe, said a man left four disturbing messages on the school's answering machine accusing them of fabricating the shooting that left 26 students and staff dead on Dec. 14, 2012.

He called again later Tuesday morning and allegedly spoke with an administrative assistant at the school.

Police said they were able to trace the calls back to Rogalski. He was then arrested at his home in Wallingford.

He originally used his father's name in the first call and said he wanted to enroll a child. "I just wanted to make sure that there was going to be no fake shooting on the day that I enrolled him," court records showed Rogalski said.

"I just wanted to clarify that he wouldn't get shot by a fake Adam Lanza."

He eventually asked if Kaitlin Roig could be his teacher. Roig was teaching when the deadly shooting happened.

"I know I may have offended people, but they were words, and I made no threats. I wasn't going to do anything," Rogalski said.

What an asshole!

You know here's what I don't get. Even if you really believed that the whole thing was a false flag operation staged by the government to take away your guns, how would THAT make calling up a school to harass the secretaries at the front desk a reasonable response?

For me this hits a little too close to home because of course this is what happened after my Splitsville post made national news. Of course in my case there were actual death threats.

It is worth noting that the whole Sandy Hook false flag meme is one promoted rather aggressively by Alex Jones. You may remember him as the man who claims responsibility for convincing Rand Paul to run for the Senate, and now for President of the United States.

Gun control group opens up fake store to educate people about gun violence. People who make their living from gun violence very unhappy.

This from News Corpse:

The shock displayed by many of the patrons (video below) speaks to the powerful impact that this information has when people learn about the common tragedies that result from the proliferation of deadly weapons. While most Americans believe that having a gun in the home is effective protection, statistics show that it actually increases the likelihood of a homicide, suicide, or fatal accident. And massacres like Sandy Hook would not be possible without easy access to weapons designed for mass killing of people.

Predictably, the National Rifle Association was outraged at what they called “a tasteless PR stunt designed to further an anti-gun agenda.” Other gun advocacy groups charged that the store violated New York state laws for possession of handguns. There were even accusations that the store was an unlicensed firearms dealer. At Fox News they portrayed the campaign as an attempt to “sell gun control, guilt potential buyers.”

Do you know how to tell when a PR stunt is really working? When the target of your campaign comes out this aggressively against you.

I think this did precisely the job it set out to accomplish.

No wonder the NRA is pissed off.

The families of nine Sandy hook victims sue the estate of Adam Lanza's mother.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The families of nine people killed in the Newtown elementary school shooting have filed lawsuits against the estate of the gunman's mother.

The lawsuits allege that Nancy Lanza incorrectly secured her legally owned Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, which her troubled adult son, Adam Lanza, used to kill 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, the Connecticut Post reported Friday.

Adam Lanza killed his mother at their Newtown home before carrying out the school shooting and committing suicide as police arrived.

The lawsuits seek to collect on Nancy Lanza's homeowner's insurance, the Connecticut Post reported. Bridgeport lawyer Josh Koskoff, representing eight of the families suing, said homeowner's insurance applies when a person is injured as a result of an unsecured firearm in a home being accessed by a third party.

'With this many claimants, the money ends up being a symbolic gesture, but it serves as an important reminder that people who keep firearms in the home must be scrupulous about securing their weapons,' Koskoff said in a statement, adding that the policy is estimated to be worth between $1 million and $1.5 million.

I am not usually a huge fan of lawsuits but anything that might help convince gun owners to keep their guns out of the hands of those who might use them to do harm is a good idea in my book.

Koskoff is also suing, on behalf of these families, the manufacturer of the Bushmaster AR-15 that Lanza used during his killing spree as well. It will likely not do anything to stop them from manufacturing them, but once again somebody needs to do something.

Of all of the things that will haunt me for the remainder of my days, the fact that we as a nation were unable to respond in an aggressive manner with new gun control legislation in the wake of this massacre is one I will never find peace with.

If the murder of 20 innocent children was not enough to bring common sense to our gun laws, then clearly nothing ever will.

Louisiana congressional candidate, and cousin to the Duck Dynasty dipshits, blames the Sandy Hook massacre on Atheism. Wait, what?

Courtesy of Buzzfeed:

Zach Dasher, the cousin of the Duck Dynasty family who is challenging incumbent Republican Rep. Vance McAllister in Louisiana’s 5th Congressional district, once blamed atheism for the Sandy Hook school shooting.

Before running for Congress, Dasher was the proprietor of the website Willingtothink.org, which bills itself as a website and podcast “a website and podcast dedicated to encouraging folks to be willing to think about the deeper questions in life.”

“These children that were killed in Connecticut were made for purpose and to be honest with you even the killer himself was made for a purpose,” Dasher said on one podcast titled “Why did this happen,” which discussed the Sandy Hook shootings.

Dasher says the Adam Lanza, the shooter, was “made in the image of God” but started to believe “what the atheist says.”

“He was made in the image of God,” he said. “But somewhere along the way he believed what the atheist says. He reduced humanity to nothing more than a collection of atoms, to be discarded like an old banana peel. I guarantee you, now this is my hypothesis, that even saw himself as nothing more than chemicals.”

Yes, of course that makes perfect sense that once you stop believing in an omnipotent sky daddy, that of course you start murdering your fellow human beings.

Which of course, as you know, is backed up by sound research that can be found in the scientific journal entitled "Facts I Pulled Right Out of My Ass."

( Hey I guess we should simply be impressed that at least this Right Wing nutjob doesn't think the Sandy Hook shootings were an elaborate hoax.)

Personally I am getting sick and tired of  Atheists being blamed for EVERYTHING these days.

The next thing you know they will start blaming us for the low attendance at church and a reduction in religious belief in America. (Oh you know what? Those might be our fault.)

Now if you are thinking to yourself, "Hey I have totally seen this dim bulb someplace before," that is because you have totally seen this dim bulb someplace before:

Yep, just another winner endorsed by the Wasilla Wendigo.

Kind of makes me wonder just how low your IQ has to be before Palin will give your campaign her cloven hoof of approval? I'm guessing the low 80's.

Hey speaking of low IQ's there is now a Duck Dynasty video game where you have to perform certain tasks in order to "become a Robertson."

Which is kind of interesting since Dasher also said the following:

“Porn and video games are the most obvious symptoms of what is wrong with our culture but they of themselves are not the core problem,” Dasher said. “Those are the symptoms. So some people want to blame this on porn and video games. Look, does it contribute? Yes. Is it the core of the cause? No. These are also symptoms.”

You know maybe the next time that Dasher gets invited to go deep into the wilderness with the heavily armed Robertson clan he might consider taking a pass.

They might be all about forgiving sins, but costing them money on merchandising? Probably not so much.

Hillary Clinton says that opponents of gun laws "terrorize" the majority of people.

Courtesy of Time:

“We cannot let a minority of people, and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people, hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people,” Clinton said during a live CNN town hall. The comments were Clinton’s deepest foray into an exceedingly controversial political subject since leaving the State Department last year.

“I was disappointed that the Congress did not pass universal background checks after the horrors of the shootings at Sandy Hook,” she said in response to a question from a school teacher in the audience. “I don’t think any parent, or any person should have to fear about their child going to school or going to college because someone for whatever reason, psychological, emotional, political, ideological, whatever, could possibly enter that school property with an automatic weapon and murder innocent children, students, teachers.”

“I will speak out [on this subject] no matter what role I find myself in,” Clinton pledged, referring to her consideration of a presidential bid in 2016.

Damn, that is a pretty bold position for somebody who is clearly running for President in 2016.

This will ABSOLUTELY inspire the NRA to throw tons of money at defeating her and other Right Wing lunatics will now have a rallying cry to use to get the conservative vote out.

This also kind of softens the criticism that Hillary is too politically calculating and that all of her responses to the questions from reporters are focused on making her more electable rather than her honest feelings on the topic.

Clearly Hillary knows that this answer will show up in political advertisements, chain e-mails, and debates right up until November 2016.

To honest this really impresses me, and gives me more confidence in who she will be as President.

As did her response to the RNC squirrel:

A Republican National Committee intern, dressed in a Squirrel costume, has been stalking Hillary Clinton while she’s on her book tour. On Tuesday, the former Secretary of State walked up to the intern and said while handing him a copy of her book ‘Hard Choices,’ “Hello Mr. Squirrel, how are you?” She continued with a smile on her face, “I know you’ve been following me around and while you’re in between your gigs. I wanted you to get a copy of my book.”

Oh yeah, she going to do fine.

Remember that guy who stole the memorial sign for the Sandy Hook victim? Yeah, well they threw his ass in jail.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A Virginia man who claims the massacre of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut never took place has been arrested after stolen memorial signs for two 7-year-old victims were found in his home, police said.

A sign honoring victim Chase Kowalski had been removed from a playground in Mantoloking, New Jersey, and another, in memory of Grace McDonnell, was taken from a playground in Mystic, Connecticut.

Both signs were found on Friday at the Herndon, Virginia, residence of Andrew David Truelove, 28, and he was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property, Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard told reporters.

She said police tracked down Truelove after he emailed a reporter who had written about the thefts and the journalist passed along information to investigators.

Grand theft charges for removing the memorial signs are pending in Connecticut and New Jersey, DeBoard said.

Truelove told police he is one of the so-called “truthers” who do not believe the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook School actually happened. In the incident, one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history, gunman Adam Lanza, 20, a former student at the elementary campus, killed 20 children and six adults before taking his own life.

This is apparently the outcome when people believe that the right to own guns is more important than the lives of children.

I was amazed at how many people got caught up in the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories.

I also hate the fact that crazy people like this undermine efforts to expose ACTUAL conspiracies or unrevealed facts about things we think we know.

Sarah Palin tears up at political rally? Are we sure this is THE Sarah Palin?

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

At a rally for longshot Senate candidate on the bayou, Sarah Palin got choked up on Thursday.

Sarah Palin, a former reality television star, appeared at rally for Rob Maness, the Tea Party candidate for Senate in Louisiana in New Orleans today, and promptly mocked President Obama for that “hopey-changey stuff.”

But moments later, Palin’s eyes welled with tears at a very Obama-esque notion, when Maness, a retired colonel in the Air Force, describing spending 32 years “soaring above our fruited plain and seeing our purple mountains majesty. Because when you are high above the land of the free there is simply no red or blue states, just the United States of America.”

Maness choked up as well, while it took Palin, standing to his side, several moments to dry her eyes and compose herself.”

Okay let me get this straight.

Sarah Palin did NOT get choked up when Native Alaskans were freezing and starving to death during the winter of 2009, her eyes did not "well up with tears" over news of the shooting deaths at Sandy Hook (After which she claimed to have bought Todd a new gun in response to all the "anti-gun chatter coming from Washington.") and she certainly was not overcome with emotion when Gabby Giffords was shot in the head.

Yet when some nobody Tea party candidate in New Orleans regurgitates a line originally used by President Obama she suddenly remembers she has tear ducts?

Yeah, I call bullshit on that.

I found the video of the event (The remarks in question start at the 9:00 minute mark.) and the camera did not catch Palin's tears, and until I see video proof to the contrary I think I will remain skeptical.

The only emotions I have witnessed from this woman are anger, hate, and almost overwhelming jealousy. And I am convinced that is about the depth of her emotional sensitivities.

Richard Martinez, father of the last UCSB shooting victim, asks "Have we learned nothing?"

Courtesy of TPM:

"Have we learned nothing? These things are going to continue until somebody does something," Richard Martinez said in an interview with CNN. "So where the hell is the leadership? Where the hell are these people we elect to congress that we spend so much money on? These people are getting rich sitting in Congress, and what do they do? They don't take care of our kids. My kid died because nobody responded to what happened at Sandy Hook."

Martinez's son, Christopher, was the last of six victims allegedly killed by Elliot Rodger before the suspected shooter took his own life. An emotional Martinez had railed against "craven, irresponsible politicians" and the National Rifle Association for their support of gun rights at a Saturday press conference. He redoubled his criticism of Congress in his interview with CNN, calling lawmakers a "rudderless bunch of idiots."

A visibly angry Martinez expressed dismay that no legislative action has been taken since 20 elementary school students were killed by shooter Adam Lanza in Newtown.

"Those parents lost little kids. I had 20 years with my son. That's all I'll ever have," he said. "But those people lost their children at 6 and 7 years old. How do you think they feel? And who's talking to them now, who's doing anything for them now? Who is standing up for those kids that died back then in an elementary school? Why wasn't something done? It's outrageous."

It is outrageous. It's outrageous that no mater how many people die from gun violence everyday in this country, that our politicians are too cowardly to stand up and fight against a lobby that is really not nearly as powerful as we are led to believe.

And the most heartbreaking thing of all is that after we are finished lamenting this latest shooting, and after our memories start to fade, we will all go back to our lives as if it never happend until the NEXT terrible massacre occurs, and you know it will, which angers us enough to yet again speak out and demand that something be done to stop the violence.

But of course very little actually will change, and more grieving parents will soon join the Sandy Hook parents, and Mr. Martinez, in asking WHY.
