"He's been shooting blanks for weeks now." Chris Matthews is fed up with Darrell Issa. And he is not alone.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

"You can never close a case on what you don't know."

What doesn't he know? He knows full well that the initial idea to provide additional scrutiny to groups seeking a 501 tax exemption came from a conservative Republican in Cincinnati, and he knows that the IRS also used certain keywords to identify liberal groups as well.

The only thing this sleazebag does not seem to know is that his "investigation' has blown up in his face and that he no longer has an ounce of credibility with the American people.

Ok, Mr. Fancy Pants Librul Alaska blogger, YOU just crossed a red line!!

You had your chance to stop criticizing the Honorable Rep. Darrel "Dimebag" Issa and you blew it! How dare you call an UNINDICTED (tho frequently accused) member of America's venerated (second most) deliberative legislative institution a 'sleazebag'!

'Douchebag', maybe. 'Asshole', perhaps. 'Twatwaffle', yeah, ok (h/t 2 Nefer). But "sleazebag'??? THAT'S A BRIDGE TOO FAR, BUDDY BOY!!

So you won't be surprised to discover, at www.darrelissastodolist.com, that YOUR NAME has been added to the long list of investigatees slated to be hounded AFTER Obama's imminent impeachment, imprisonment and execution plus Chris Matthews' special rendition and subsequent death under "mysterious" conditions is completed.

Needless to say (but here I am saying it) YOU will not be participating in the exciting NEW good old fashioned hyper-conservative Amercia that will soon be a red, white and blue dystopian reality thanks to blessed patriots like this douchebag, asshole, twatwaffle, sleazebag!

Thank Jeebus for men (and women, also, too) like Darell "Dimebag" Issa!!

  3. You know, looking at Darrel "I guess technically I am a crook, but not convicted, so neener-neener" Issa, it occurs to me that he knows exactly where Hoffa's remains can be found.

Lots and LOTS of skeletons in HIS closet!

In fact, he might have a full-to-the-brim storage unit bursting with 'dem bones'.

  4. Oh, I liked that.

I also liked the “shooting blanks” part. It was the perfect sound bite. Issa will carry that around like an albatross.

Issa is a microcosm of the modern day reublican party. Loud, stupid, camera hogging and desperate while trailing victimhood behind them---All the while standing in a bucket of bullshit.

Maybe he'll blame all his failures on his brother like he did years ago.

It's the standard GOP strategy for everything these days:

Lie repeatedly, constantly, loudly and convincingly, and eventually they will believe you.

The Inspector General’s report didn’t mention the IRS targeting progressive groups for enhanced scrutiny … because House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa used the Inspector General’s office to harass his own “Enemies List.”

Within hours after the release of the Inspector General’s report on the IRS targeting of conservative groups that applied for 501(c)(4) status, there were reports that the IRS had also asked progressive non-profit groups for the same information. Indeed the only group whose 501(c)(4) application was denied – the Maine Chapter of Emerge America – is a progressive organization that trains Democratic women to run for office.

Yet the media dutifully allowed House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa to charge President Obama with using the IRS to target political opponents, mostly because the IG’s report did not mention the IRS targeting progressive groups.

“Narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations”

On Tuesday we learned why, via the Huffington Post‘s Sam Stein:

...In other words, Chairman Issa asked for a selective investigation of the IRS, directing the IG’s office to look only at the IRS targeting of conservative groups. He then used the report from that selective investigation to build a narrative of the IRS targeting only conservative groups. It’s like combing through police records looking only for arrests of people wearing blue jeans … to tell a story that police arrest only people wearing blue jeans.

“It has contributed to the distortion of this entire investigation”

Yesterday the ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI), responded with an angry letter to the Treasury Department Inspector General’s office, with these key paragraphs:

Yes, indeed. It was a setup. A spokesman for Treasury Inspector General Russell George told the Hill newspaper on Tuesday that House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) asked for auditors to “narrowly focus on tea party organizations.” The spokesman added: “We did not review the use, disposition, purpose or content of the other BOLOs. That was outside the scope of our audit,” according to the Hill.

Karen Kraushaar, a spokeswoman for George, flatly rejected claims that his work was skewed by politics and said the inspector general only investigates requests from Congress.

“Our audit report answered the questions it was asked to address,” Kraushaar said. “Other questions that are now being raised are the subject of additional review.”

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) placed the request that TIGTA determine whether conservative groups were being unfairly scrutinized by the IRS.

Find the narrative you want and then cherrypick the evidence to prove that narrative.

      Same old, same old.

The ig and the new irs commissioner have now reaffirmed that ONLY conservatives were unfairly targeted. Having your name flagged is not the same thing so issa hsa NOT lost his ccredibility, you have lost yours though.

This man is disgusting. And so typically the corrupt type of congressman his district normally goes for. I am sick of the old white guys club in So. Cal. They will get theirs eventually when their “help” rises up and takes them on. It always amazed me how many people have a maid, gardener or general service “slave” paid under the table and then have the audacity to complain how the Mex/Cal border is open to “illegals.”

One of the major takeaways from the series dramatic political events over the last 48 hours is quite simply that the Republicans will do anything to win. Almost literally anything. Chicanery and complex scheming in politics isn’t anything new (see also House of Cards), but the intensity and frequency — not to mention the broad-daylight hubris of it all by the Republicans this week has been extraordinary to behold.

It’s surely symptomatic of the Republican Party’s current status on the endangered species list, but that’s also what makes the party’s collective fealty to far-right bigotry and oppression even more peculiar, given how the policy areas at issue this week have almost exclusively impacted women and minorities.

We were told the party was endeavoring to reach out to the demographic groups that helped doom its electoral chances last November. Clearly not, and it’s disintegrated into a predictably failed outreach effort. There was never any doubt that the extremists who occupy the far-right base, as well as the fire-eaters in the conservative entertainment complex, would never allow the party to soften its posture. And so it goes.

Here now are the top six examples of Republican cheating, racism, hypocrisy and general insanity from the last 48 hours:

Part of the problem that the GOP has in stubbornly clinging to the 19th century is that they repeatedly forget about today's technology. You can't hide your lies and blatant cheating by slipping the local political beat reporter a $20 bill like you could decades ago.

On Tuesday night, I watched the last 45 minutes of the Texas Senate session and, during that period, there were 180 THOUSAND people watching the live feed that clearly showed the vote happening AFTER midnight. Screen caps then proved that the time stamps on the vote were changed to look as if they happened before midnight.

Welcome to the 21st century, Republicans, where nothing stays a secret for very long!

  9. I wouldn't give Chris Matthews any credit - he has been supporting Issa's words for months - and jumps on the bandwagon when he realizes the argument against the democrats/President is lost.

Issa can do what he does because the media doesn't call him out until the democrats in the congress prove beyond doubt that Issa lies and schemes to give the RWNJs a thrill.

If there were an institutional way to bow out gracefully from the mess he has created for himself, thus "saving face", would Issa be smart enough to take it?

Or is it a case of once a blowhard, always a blowhard?

I think his supreme arrogance would prevent him from taking the high road.

In his case, I wonder if he even admits to himself that these 'scandals' are all bullshit or if he's actually convinced himself that he's doing the right thing. I'm not sure which option is more frightening!

Issa needs to be publicly pulled from that committee by Republicans. He is doing nothing more than trying to cloud the Obama presidency - proving nothing and looking like an idiot! Most certainly hope he is not reelected to serve in Congress. He has done nothing but cost taxpayers money!

Just looking at this idiot makes my skin crawl. Elijah Cummings called him out on making all the evidence public, and by not doing so, he's just shown that his "inquiry" was nothing more than political posturing.
What bothers me most is he'll get away with it, they always do.
