President Obama appoints Susan Rice as national Security Advisory. Essentially giving the Right Wing a giant middle finger.

Courtesy of NBC News:

Hailing her longtime role as a “trusted adviser,” President Barack Obama formally named U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice as his next national security adviser on Wednesday.

Obama tapped Rice, a target of Republican criticism in recent months, to succeed Tom Donilon; the president also nominated Samantha Power, a longtime foreign policy adviser, to take over Rice’s role at the United Nations.

“I am absolutely thrilled that she'll be back at my side leading my national security team in my second term,” Obama said of Rice, a longtime confidant whose role in publicly explaining the administration’s initial assessment of last year’s terror attack in Benghazi, Libya, has made her a lightning rod for criticism.

This role will actually give Rice MORE access to the President, and she will be instrumental in helping to make virtually all of the foreign policy decisions, whihc means that in many ways it has more power than the Secretary of State position that, if she had been nominated, the Republicans threatened to filibuster.

Once again the GOP is playing checkers while the President plays a game of three tiered chess.

"How you like me now?"
Update: The victory lap.

The GOP has become the dumb bunch who scream moronically every time a democrat exhales. The only thing they have left is the noise . . . .
Their scheme to get Scott Brown chosen as senator and destroy Susan Rice--- crashed. Now they have egg on their face; as always.

it is intriguing to see how Obama gets to the place he wants to be by first inviting cooperation and then either dragging them along or whistling right past their dumb asses.

GOP blocked Warren as Director of the CFPB. She is now Sen. Warren. They blocked Amb. Rice as SoS. She is now NSA. GOP tears are delicious.

Another sure sign he's done with them is his announcement that he absolutely. will. not. accept. any. more. piecemeal 'budget' deals. That is to say, the republicans' efforts to slip through increases for TSA, the Pentagon, or other pet areas while screwing every other American will now be denied; the only thing Obama will sign now is a comprehensive budget deal that turns off the sequester and also has a positive effect on the US economy. To use the President's words, the bill must pass Congress "in the context of an overall budget framework that supports our recovery and enables sufficient investments in education, infrastructure, innovation and national security for our economy to compete in the future." And yes, Congress IS stupid enough to play this game of chicken. And when this happens, just watch his poll numbers rise, and the GOP poll numbers plummet even further into the toilet. Go, President Obama!!

Politically, Republicans are now in a serious bind. The woman that they spent months dragging through the conspiracy mud is now the person that they have to work with if they want action on Syria. The usually boring topic of foreign policy just took a very interesting turn.

Congressional Republicans may find themselves eating a lot crow because they just been served a heaping helping of Susan Rice by President Obama.

One thing this appointment brings to my mind is that by appointing Bush era Susan Rice to NSA only cements the fact that President Obama is NOT a progressive, but in reality is a centrist Republican in many, many ways.

hedgewytch, I think you are getting your Rices mixed up.

Susan Rice is a democrat who is the United Nations Ambassador and a long time friend of the President. She worked for the Clinton
      administration.

Condeleeza Rice is a republican who was Bushs SOS and National Security Advisor.

We are talking about Susan, the democratic Rice, not Condoleeza Rice, the compliant Bushie.

This is a beautiful thing to watch. Obama has finally had it and it's about time. They made Warren a Senator, now Rice is more important than Kerry...
and Christie has blown it soooo big with his intimidation of Cory Booker, what a friggin joke. I love reading how there is now a giant conspiracy to get rid of Bohner. I hope and pray all those lousy GOPers get booted out in 2014. I also hope the state of NJ has the good sense to get rid of that lying bastard Christie and they elect Booker to the Senate.

Actually, the ones Obama gave the middle finger are US, Gryphen. Susan Rice would not have been out of place in the Bush administration. Her continued presence in the Obama administration simply highlights how little his foreign policy differs from Bush's. Susan Rice a pro-war one-percenter.

Rice was confirmed as UN ambassador by the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent on January 22, 2009.

Not a single Senator voted against Rice.

And, 5:19 and 5:20, Susan Rice swallowed the Bush administration's WMD lies hook, line and sinker. Great national security adviser SHE'S going to make.

As for her being confirmed for UN ambassador by unanimous consent? Well, I would expect Democrats to vote for her. Of course they would rubber stamp Obama's pick. I would certainly NOT expect Republicans to have voted for her, unless they already knew she was a whole lot like them. Which she is.

So 5:15, I hope you weren't trying to compliment her.

Remember Susan Rice criticized Johnny Mac back in the 08 election which is the only reason he got all hot and bothered about Benghazi.

  14. Once again while the gop played tiddly winks President Obama played 3D three-player chess, and won.

President Obama even had gop rooting for Kerry for SoS. HAHAHAHA rotf gop got played as usual.

Now Amb Rice is where she should be. And it has nothing to do with condi rice either. Amb Rice is well qualified while condi rice was a crony appointment.

I Love It! President Obama gamemanship.

  15. The president does not give "a giant middle finger" to anyone. He appoints the best person for the job and the media immediately thinks it is an anti-GOP event. The President has never been anti anyone. He is doing his job. The GOP - on the other hand has been anti the President since the day he was elected. Never should anyone put GOP words and ideas into the President's mouth.

Watched this on T.V. today....nominated: two, very well educated, smart, strong women and I'm pleased as hell that President Obama picked them.

He truly is working circles around the obstructionist Republicans in Congress and it's delightful to watch.

that would necessitate a cushy job.

Ok, Mr. Fancy Pants Alaska Librul Blogger, you think your so-called President Barack Hussein Obama is so smart. Well, he REALLY stepped in it this time, buddy boy!

First, that Susan Rice was DEEPLY involved in the web of lies concocted to get us into Obama's Iraq War in 2003!! Yellow cake uranium, my ass!!

Second, I'm pretty sure the Drudgery Report is about to reveal that Susan Rice was the hidden gunman on the grassy knoll in Dallas in 1963! SHE KILLED KENNY!! I mean, Kennedy!!! And that's who Obama appoints to important positions in government??? How sick is that!!!

Third, Obama is now ankle deep in the LARGEST number of trivial non-scandals in American presidential history!! ANKLE DEEP!!! He may have somehow wriggled out of the "ego-gate" scandal in 2009 when he named his new dog after his own initials "Bho" but he ain't getting out of the rest of it now. BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And furthermore, why am I even bothering to comment on your defunct blog, anyway? How many visitors do you even get - and DONT count The Screechy Wretch(tm) and her family and paid trolls? I bet it's not more than 15-20. 30 tops! Is there a visit counter on this thing? lemme check....

HA HA HA!!!! 18!!!! HA HA HA!!!! EIGHTEEN VISITORS!!!!!! FACE IT, DUDE, THIS BLOG IS DEAD!!!
