Actual doctor responds to misleading anti-Obamacare ad created by Americans for Prosperity.

Excellent job by that doctor and this provides yet another useful tool to use against those annoying Right Wing relatives who have been convinced that Obamacare was foretold in the Book of Revelations as a sign of the Apocalypse.

The facts are that if every state were to welcome the new Affordable Care Act provision and work with the federal government we would ALL see an incredibly dramatic change in out health insurance costs and in the quality of care we would receive.

The only thing standing in the way of that, is politics.

By the way Americans for Prosperity, is a front group for the Koch brothers.

    Republicans NEVER cite
    Part
    SubPart
    Section

when they toss off misconceptions of the ACA.

    Ever wonder why?
Because if they did we could easily look it up and refute their nonsense.

    Because the ACA is online.

    right here:
    http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-111hr3590enr/pdf/BILLS-111hr3590enr.pdf

    as well as elsewhere.

So the next time a Republican friend or relative makes some nonsense claim about "Obamacare"
-- ask them for the section, or better yet, offer to look it up together.

Because what they are saying isn't true.

    They are lying.

And it is SO easy to prove.

I was recently discussing the ACA and some other stuff with a Republican friend and he said that "we'll just have to agree to disagree".

And I said no, no we don't.
I'll agree to disagree about opinions, or philosophies, or even programs but I refuse to disagree on facts.

Hard numbers such as historic marginal tax margins and revenues, for example.

We can look those up and verify which of us is right or wrong:
we don't have to "agree to disagree"
and it is the same thing with the ACA.

If it is in there we can read it ourselves: verify it.

If it isn't then stop saying it is.

    Simple as that.

As an addendum, I'd like to add:

EVERY television and print journalist that encounters a Republican talking about the ACA should ask that Republican what section of the law they're referring to.

      EVERY time.

If it's in there, tell us where, please.

Well, politics and $$$ stand in the way of healthcare reform. Some of these private hospitals are nothing more than glorified banks. Lots of $$$ are being made. Furthermore, hospitals are treating gunshot victims who have no health insurance. Who do you suppose picks up the tab for THAT?? Maybe the NRA should start a healthcare insurance plan for THEIR members? The sane people are paying for this.

Remember that Americans for Prosperity = the Koch Brothers. Why, billionaires that they are, should they not want adequate and affordable health care for all Americans? Why do they hide behind front organizations? Why haven't they run for office themselves, so that we all could have the opportunity to vote AGAINST them?

  4. Great comments. I couldn't do better. However, it just makes me smile to hear that doctor say over and over again...Obamacare, Obamacare, Obamacare. Our president deserves all the credit for this, and rightfully so his name belongs front and center.

    Suck it, Republicans!

Funny how the name that Republicans made up to denigrate the program has been embraced by the President and the millions of people who support the ACA.

On the other hand, the name that Tea Party members adopted as their own backfired big time on them because they forgot to do their homework and make sure the term wasn't already being used for something entirely different!

When will they learn that name calling only makes the person doing it look ridiculous?

So at what point do Alaskans (and the other members of states that decided to "opt out") start seeing how Parnell et all is screwing us out of our Health Care and do something about it?

  6. It just astounds the amount of just BLATANT lies that are floating around ACA and will cause millions to continue to die or go without fundamental health care because they are just too stupid to do the RATIONAL THING - FIND OUT THE FACTS FOR THEMSELVES !!!

It's not that hard... Go on the Government's web site that has been set up to help folks get to the correct information about enrollment that starts in October and does preliminary estimates of the cost of coverage for each person.... THAT IS IF THE GOVERNOR of their state will allow them to find out !!!

I'm in California where my monthly, PRIVATE health premium will GO DOWN, FOR BETTER COVERAGE, BY 75 % !!! GOT IT ?? DOWN !!!

Call or write or both your congress folks and 1) DEMAND THAT THEY PARTICIPATE IN THE ACA, 2) MAKE SURE YOU LET THEM KNOW YOU THINK THEY ARE assKlowns..

Not so fast there, Mr. Fancy Pants Librul Alaska blogger!! You can pretend this so-called President Obama of yours is some kind of success, but the scores are in and it looks VERY bad for him, you and your little buddies reading this defunct blog!

That's right, I'm talking about this:
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/07/19/hope-isn-t-enough-without-conviction-or-destination-obama-flounders.html

    OBAMA IS A FAILURE!!

That's the inescapable conclusion of Stuart Stevens - who goes by the nickname "The Legendary Authority" in his own head - who is no neophyte in politics. He was the CHIEF STRATEGARIAN for the wildly successful Mittens "Mitt" Rmoney presidential campaign (1997-2012) that led from behind to a VERY impressive runner-up victory. Everyone knows Obama only "won" because Mittens didnt even want that stoopid old job anyway!

Did you know that leading bible scientists have discovered that Obama is responsible for this country's droughts AND floods? But it gets worse. Did you know Obama invented the ice cream head freeze, that terrible pain above your eyes you get when you eat too much ice cream too quickly? And did you notice how American flags are suddenly showing up with lime green stripes and orange stars? Did you know OBAMA ordered that change?

Yeah... I didnt think you did. He's not looking so messiah-y NOW, is he, buddy boy!

In conclusion: everything Obama has ever done, is doing or ever will do is bad, bad, bad. Everything conservatives have ever done, are doing or ever will do is good, good, good.

That's no so hard to understand, is it?

Don't forget, he's also responsible for tornadoes, hurricanes and varicose veins. I have it on good authority (the neighbor who keeps all of his window shades closed and the loaded shotgun propped against his front door) that the skunk that keeps spraying the side of your garage is being sent by the local Democrat party to harass good Republican folks.

He's also responsible for the Black Plague (ever wonder why it was called the "Black" plague, huh???), the demise of the dinosaurs (just wanted to make it hard for Jeebus to get around), and the invention of spinach (a socialist plot to make us eat things with vitamins and fiber in them).

Next thing you know, he'll be outlawing fried pork rinds and telling us the big energy companies should be punished for spilling oil in the environment. All that oil does is make the feathers on those ducks a little slippery-er so the little fellers can slide through the water faster!

OH MY GAWD, what an ignorant statement coming from an obviously uninformed far right wing nut. These people are too lazy to do any research on their own, so they rely on what far right wing pundits who tell them what they want to know, even if it contains no factual information. And Obama is responsible for the heat and floods? Who is this guy listening to?

Sorry for responding to an ignorant far right Tea Bagger, but it was just too much, besides I believe I speak for many here.

I guess I'm a little too guable. But after reading Conseratives4Palin for so long and seeing so many of these types of comments, it's not easy to separate a real comment from sarcasm. This type of comment is normal over there, and it's not hard to imagine one of Palin's fans coming here and posting such a comment.

But truly I admit, Beldar did "snagged another one". It's a little embarrassing, but it's especially embarrassing to admit I've been coming to this site and reading the comments daily, probably since 2008.

Yep, you hafta venture way out on the insanity scale to see any daylight between satire (or parody, whichever is the best fit) and the true feelings and opinions of the RW tard Palinbot nutters. I remember the early days over there when I would infiltrate and just type in an absurd statement, and I'd get an 'Amen' or an 'I stand with Sarah' response and about 20 up-arrows and none down. They'e not the hardest people to fool, and Sarah proves that every day with her small team of PAC-supported socks over there who keep the others in line.
