Apparently Mitt Romney is a BIG hit in Africa. Well his t-shirts are anyway.

Courtesy of Little Green Footballs:

An American volunteer for The Orbit Village Project in Kenya, a charitable foundation for orphans and children whose parents cannot care for them, collects clothing, school supplies, and gifts for schoolchildren. Her nephew worked for the Romney campaign and had tons of worthless Romney T-shirts after election day 2012.

The result was the discarded shirts were sent to Kenya, where they’re now a huge hit with kids and some adults, too.

Without a doubt the best thing to come out  of the Romney campaign.

You just KNOW that Romney found a way to use this as a tax right off, don't you?

By the way "Romney" in Kenyan means "emotionless mannequin."

Okay I made that up, sue me.

Those kids only look happy because no one told them they are the 47% yet.

T-shirts to Kenya... The irony is just too, too beautiful!
Was this about 47% of the R&R shirts that were made?

I'll bet that is as close to that many black people that Mitt Romney will ever get.

    Beer O'Clock early?

"Romney found a way to sue this as a tax right off" s.b.

"Romney found a way to use this as a tax write off"?

    1. Beer? There are only two letters out of place, AND it actually spells a real word.

That kind of typo does not require beer, that kind of typo only requires typing.

By the way it is this kind of uptight attitude that cost you guys the last World War.

Well, the campaign was going to charge the charity a dollar shirt until the press found out! Only then did they "donate" the shirts.

Not to quibble, but no tax write-off for a couple of reasons. First, they were donated by the campaign which was a non-profit org anyway, therefore there is no income to "write down" with a donation. Second, due to the very nature of these items, from an accounting perspective they were treated one of two ways:

    1. as an expense item as a campaign expense like posters, yard-sign, pencils, etc, so stuff like this might be in a physical inventory because of sizes, colors, different logos, or whatnot, but shown on the books at a value of $0 already; or
    2. These might have been items that were purchased as sales inventory to be marked up and sold during the campaign. If that's the case, they would've already have been written down to their salvage value, probably a penny or some token amount just to account for the inventory.

It's not at all unusual for dated logo merchandise from campaigns, etc to be "dumped" onto developing countries UN Central America or Africa, as long as it can be done without damaging a particular brand.

So all in all, probably just a nice thing to do. Mitt's still a prick overall, IMO, but this looks like its just a good deed this time. But the campaign wasn't paid for with his money, anyway. Of course he dropped about $50 million in 2008 of his own money to try to beat McCain in the primary, but that was because he couldn't raise the $ due to McCain being the presumptive choice early in the primary.

Okay, waitress is here with my beer, finally. I hope the next 6 or 7 don't take as long or I will go home completely sober and thirsty.

    Signing off. Ciao!

They must have run out of Super Bowl Champion Buffalo Bills t-shirts that were donated to refugees around the globe after those losses.

I'd have more respect for him if he did this before President Obama sunk his battleship.
