Children with Down syndrome love President Obama too.

(Video and pictures courtesy of the Obama Diary.)

You can read more about little Makenna Hurd’s visit to the White House here.

You know watching that clip I cannot help but think of anther child with Down syndrome who would probably really enjoy meeting President Obama.

Sadly the jealous creature that claims to have given birth to him would NEVER allow it.

Children will tell you a lot about a person's character just by watching them interact with a person.

I've always loved watching how children, especially babies and toddlers, react to President Obama. They tend to be very good judges of people and aren't fooled by those who pretend to be something they're not. They know when someone really likes them or not.

One of my favorite videos is the one of him calming the crying baby and flashing a very satisfied smirk at Michelle as if to say, "See...I got this!"

    2. I often think of that paparazzi video of the Palin clan walking down a street in Hollywood almost 3 years ago (September 26, 2010), where Sarah walked far away from the nanny holding Trig, with Blackberry in hand.

And when she happened to get nearer to Trig being carried by the nanny, he got agitated and flung his body to the other side of the nanny's body, almost as if he was trying to get away from his "mother".

I'm sure Bristol's little boy Trig would love President Obama too.

Just back from the Knoxville paper's website, where more than half of the comments were removed because they were racist or political.
They did let through the kind and enthusiastic ones.
It never stops -- the nasty, sometimes really evil, attempts to slam the President, and to remind people, who don't need reminding, that he's not only black, but also a "librul." Of course, he's really a rather middle-of-the-road politician but that hasn't stopped these freaks from calling him a Communist, Socialist, Nazi, Muslim: whatever they think is mud, they throw.

Of course, they'd be stumped if they were asked to actually define any of these terms, or to argue intelligently about the President's accomplishments.
They hate him because black people aren't supposed to achieve what these white folks think is their birthright. Doesn't matter that he's smart, educated, dedicated, hard-working, sincere and transparently good. Or that they're nothing of these things. They just call themselves "christian," and that should be the end of discussion.

I grew up as a Christian, and still attend services, but in an old-line Episcopal congregation, which is as far as these folks can ever imagine would be called Christian and still be under the same roof. Episcopalians stress "tradition," as well as "thinking." An entirely different league from the cultists who claim the Bible as their own.

    1. I’ve never had much contact with Episcopalians, but they sound very different from Evangelicals, where independent thinking is discouraged.

Athleticism (my father and brother) and thinking (my father and me) were discouraged because “pride” was bad. However, great singing and sumptuous gardening were just fine. That confused me until I realized it was just peasants trying to avoid the wrath of the king. He wouldn’t mind singing and gardening, but athleticism and independent thought were threatening. Over the years it was distilled down to “pride is bad.”

Those people assume that the name 'White House' refers to the color of the people who are allowed to live there.

Those words all mean the same thing to them: not white.

I think the terms refer to UNAMERICAN. DANGEROUS. MUST BE STOPPED.

the racist thoughts are there but they are rightously indignant if you call them racist ( though they are. ..)

But they can use those UNAMERICAN words and cloak themselves in their patriotism...a sad attempt to divert from the racism.

You're so right. Commie, Socialist, these are terms that the right wing has been conditioned to react to in negative ways even though they have no friggin idea what the words mean. They are so easily frightened and manipulated by their "leaders" it's just sad. So they run around screaming about socialism or whatever and not once has anyone asked the idiots to define the terms. They make death threats and insult and slander our President, all because they think he believes in a concept they can't even comprehend or explain. Truly pathetic.

Looking at his genuine smile I would like to give him a hug. OK maybe because I admire his brains but also think he is one good looking man. With all my respect to his beautiful wife Michele I will compose myself.

In all seriousness children know who is real or not. They have no walls up no filters. They see you for who you are. Too bad we couldn't put that into the brains of people who HATE our President.

I've never wanted to meet a President as much as I'd like to meet President Obama. There is just something welcoming and reassuring about his manner that appeals to me.

(Of course, I also think he's a very attractive man as well!)

Do you ever notice we say, why don't the palins get a dog, so they get dogs, we say why don't the palins have a dining room table instead of that granite slab across their island, they get a dining room table, they used to have that stupid tv on that bare white wall , we said it looked sterile then they jazzed up that wall, dance puppets dance!

  8. The picture is lovely. And by signing the ACA, the President has provided concrete, solid help to families of children with medical issues.

And that picture will eat Palin alive. After her "iconic" status as the life-giving Madonna who nobly and bravely gave life, the one who cares about those with special needs, the one would be the "friend in the White House" to families with special needs children, now what?

She has done nothing for for any charitable endeavor working for special needs children. She gave speeches, but not for free. She is never photographed with Trig.

When has she ever told a story about Trig beyond his earliest babyhood, his milestones, his therapies, his progress? Where is her blog like the ones so many other parents keep as support and encouragement to other families? When has she ever told a story about Trig that wasn't actually about her and how wonderful and noble she was to raise Trig (what is brave and noble about raising your child unless you think your child is a burden?)?

But she will still believe that she should be the one being hugged by a child with Down Syndrome.

Really, this beautiful contact bt BO and Makenna is probably the reason Palin has been such a superbitch this week. Acting all like Begich is nettling her, when really it is this picture.

That kid is not Sarah's and she doesn't care for him from all reports.

President Obama is so much better with children than Sarah Palin ever thought of being (Bristol Palin too!). They love him and go to him immediately. Cannot say the same for Sarah as there are videos of her around babies that cried immediately when she got near to them. Suspect that is why we don't see her around kids anymore...to include her own! She is NOT a loving woman!!!

I always loved the contrast between the way children responded to President Obama and Mittens during the campaign.

They reached TOWARD the POTUS, but ran AWAY from Romney.

    2. I have often noticed well-known women who use their roles as mothers to promote themselves are the kind of women who I'd never want as my mother-Sarah Palin, Michelle Duggar, Dr. Laura, Kate Gosselin.

And President Obama really does have a lovely way with children. It's really cute and heartwarming to see him interact with them.

I hope that little boy next to Makenna is her brother. He looks so proud of her!

I always like seeing President Obama interacting with kids. I just visited the link, Makenna's one amazing little girl! She bakes muffins with her mom and grandmom to raise money for Down Syndrome Charities. All kids instinctively "read" other's character, especially kids with Down Syndrome who have love and support from family and friends on a consistent basis.

I love the heart of our President Obama. And I heart our President. Children easily recognize his goodness and know that he is genuine in his relationship with them.

I am so glad that President Obama has a beautiful wife and family to give him such support and love.
