Okay WTF was with them wearing sidearms?
Did they think they were going to have to shoot into the crowd to protect themselves?
I read somewhere else that they were identified as ministers. If that is true they are horrible representatives of the Christian belief.
Why we're they carrying? We are becoming the Old West. We don't settle things with words; we shoot each other. America, land of the loons.
ReplyDeleteWhere does the phrase "Teh gays" come from? Is it an oft repeated typo or does it come from another source? I never know! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou can find out about that right here!
DeleteCute, but it still did not answer the question as the the origin of the term. It just used the term. So does this mean you do not know?
Delete"horrible representatives of the Christain belief" joining the ranks of the other horrible members, Palin, Schafly, Pat Robertson, Ralphie Reed and many in the gop. Full of God's love, aren't they?
ReplyDelete"Yeah boy, one a them fudge-packin Commie Dimmicrats starts lookin at this manly package I got here and winks at me cuz he kindly thinks I'm a Big Gulper too, I'm gone shoot him lack a dawg. Then I'm gonna crawl on his ass and show him how a *real man* lays some pipe into another dude. Cuz it ain't queer sex if they's already dead. At least that's how we do it in Texas."
ReplyDeleteLiving in the south I can tell you that for MANY of these people, they would be just as happy to gun them all down! They don't consider members of the LGBT community as human and at the very least would want to deport them all. They have been told over and over again it is a choice the LGBT people make and that god will cause THEM problems because of the gays. AND that the LGBT people are after their children!
ReplyDeleteThey are taught that from birth, just as they are taught about racial prejudice and other forms of hatred. And it is reinforced in the pews of many of their churches and from many of their preachers.
So they go to these things and wear guns to try to threaten and coerce them into leaving. Into deciding to hide and run away or stand their ground. I am afraid that sometime someone is going to get carried away and a massacre will happen. I sincerely hope that never happens, but if it does it will seal the fate of those who hate simply by the disgusted reaction that will occur within the population of those who are NOT stupid enough to believe what these idiots are taught - in other words, the majority of the country's population.
And there is no way to convince them they are wrong. The brainwashing is too complete.
I'm sorry to be so down about this, but it is what I see almost every day and this demonstration only verifies it in my mind.
They were wearing sidearms because they are scared to death of teh gays and nearly everything else. You know how frightening a gay parade is don't you?
ReplyDeleteThey also need sidearms to scare teh gays so they won't try to gay marry any of them (the protesters are convinced that gays will take one look at them and be overwhelmed with desire for them.)
Did you notice how scared teh gays were of the really tough guys with guns?
About 30 years ago I went into NY to see a show with a friend. Turns out he was gay and wanted to see the parade but was afraid his parents might catch him on the news (I was NOT pleased that he had lied to me about his motives!). Anyway, the most dangerous 'weapons' I saw there were feather boas and many, many pairs of very large pumps!
DeleteI'd feel much safer at a Gay Pride Parade than at one of the more recent ones where groups of 'patriots' march with (ostensibly unloaded) weapons brandished.
These idiots are just itching for an excuse to play vigilante and plug someone. Truly frightening!
Hey, check out this one:

Equal rights, my ass!
DeleteApparently, you only have rights if you are male, white, old and Xtian.
7:38? You're just now figuring that out?
DeleteI mean, the repubes are pushing really hard to get everything THEY believe instituted as law - regardless of whether it is constitutional or not. And male, white, old and xtian are the four top requirements.
Leland, may I offer a slight addition to the male, white, old, and faux-tian requirements?
DeleteIt reminds me of Jacques Offenbach's opera Hoffmann's Erzaehlungen, which borrows from an old Germanic fairy tale of a man making a deal the devil, and YES, the final outcome of that bargain is a total loss!
Hope the old tales still work for those guys.
Leland -
DeleteI know, I know. It's been like that for years.
It's just getting really, REALLY old and I'm very tired of it.
Go protest a rally and wear a sidearm. That's a prescription for disaster.
ReplyDeleteI missed a bit of that. Did the police take them away in the patrol cars to protect them? I assume they wouldn't have left them behind (Did I really say that?) to the mercy of those nasty cheering gays and friends. Pretty pathetic.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they didn't have a permit to gather? Or they weren't licensed to carry? Or they refused to disperse, or....
DeleteWhatever it was I'm glad they were taken - if only to prevent a disaster.
My favorite part of the film? The fact that apparently most of the people AT the parade (as opposed to IN it) were supportive of the LGBT paraders! That's a major change from years ago when it was the Gay Pride people who were ridiculed!
Last Saturday was St. Petersburg's Pride Parade. It was over a mile long, approximately 125,000 people lined Central Avenue and surroundings, according to tampabay.com.
ReplyDeleteTampa's forward looking mayor, Bob Buckhorn (D) joined the festivities, whereas St. Pete mayor Bill Foster (R) as usual had a "previous obligation". He had to help his son move to Gainesville.
Right!
He also is pre-booked for an appointment at the date of next year's parade.
Sure!
In typical underhanded fashion, his organization posted a very misleading picture indicating that he was at the soggy, thunderstorm-y parade posing with neighborhood volunteers after all.
Not so!
After being called out on pretending he was in two places at once, he posted a picture of himself and his son in Gainesville.
Oh No!
He just could not afford be seen in the largest Pride Parade in the whole State of Florida! His church and other benefactors would not have approved!
No matter, the willful ignorance and prejudice were joyfully defied by all of us! The weather made sure that no matter how different, we were united in looking happily bedraggled. Everyone was polite, ceding cover under awnings to us older ones, to families with kids and generally squeezed into some of the drier spots... you know, the usual routine for peaceful parades to which people bring kids and dogs dressed in celebratory gear and proudly wearing beads!
Finally, last, but in no way least:
Speaking of bedraggled looking, the police were as soggy as everyone else, and they were absolutely great, even posing with those who asked, all in good humor!
Leland, and others on this thread who doubt we can prevail:
There are moments when those of us who try to change prejudice in all of its forms can celebrate. It is the next day that we must go back to work. As old as I am, I will do so, if for no other reason but for the future of my offspring and the next generation they have placed into this imperfect world!

DeleteWHERE IN HELL DID YOU GET THE IDEA I THINK WE CAN'T PREVAIL????????????
Do you actually READ what we post? If you look at one of my posts - the one here in response to a comment by Lynne above at 7:44 - you will be able to read my last paragraph in my reply. Read it again and THEN tell me I think we can't prevail. Or any of the other comments I have made here concerning the LGBT struggle for equality.
I have NEVER doubted any group's right to equality nor have I argued against it! Try reading ANY of my posts and telling me I doubt the ability to prevail!
Do I get worried sometimes about the potential for violence? Yes. Like what I posted at here 6:02 above. I am not saying there that the struggle won't succeed. I AM saying that counter demonstrations like what Gryphen was writing about scare me because of some IDIOT who gets pissed and starts blasting. Does that not scare you? It should.
I absolutely LOVE how more and more legislators from the local level right on up to the federal level are joining in their cities' Gay Pride parades. Of course, most of the Republicans are still too scared to be seen with 'those people', but it's becoming more mainstream.
DeleteIt's about time and a good step forward!
Now that was funny.

ReplyDeleteTeh Gays were just openly practicing a biblical principle, "Love thy Neighbor" while living their lives vibrantly.
Poor Bigot crapped his pants when he realized he was outnumbered.
Must be a weird feeling realizing that Cops, not Jesus and especially not his metal penis extender "Saved" him.
