In the category of "Seriously who did not see this coming," Meghan McCain to get her own reality show.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Meghan McCain is getting her own show on a new TV network targeting the generation of Americans known as millennials.

"Raising McCain" will debut on Pivot, a general entertainment network that launches Aug. 1. It's described as a documentary-talk series for viewers ages 15 to 34. McCain will star and serve as executive producer.

The 28-year-old author and blogger told the Television Critics Association on Friday that the show lets her "be crazy, be myself and talk about issues."

"I came to Pivot because I think there has to be some sort of middle ground between the Kardashians and C-SPAN," McCain said. "I want to give people information but not talk down to them. I am so excited. This is the best thing I've ever done."

The BEST thing she's ever done? Wow I had no idea her life was so empty.

So once again Sarah Palin blazes a trail, once there fails in her endeavor, and then the Republican politicians and their children follow in her wake.

Gee maybe Meghan can reach out to her old chum Bristol for advice on how to be a reality star.

Wow she's so much better looking than Bristol. Her show will be so way more interesting and not an epic failure like Bristol's was.

When Jethro and Jethrine Upchuckabee were living in the Arkansas governor's mansion, they decided to renew their wedding vows.

Of course they registered at department stores all over the state, so that all their constituents could send them gifts from their registry. You can get a lot of cool new stuff thataway.

Who owns this station, the McCain's? Meghan is another fame whore, always wanting to be in the spotlight. There are many things she could have done behind the scenes, instead of hogging the limelight. She is heavy, and not all THAT bright. Since the last I heard, she has a credit card with a limit of $50,000 a month, I am sure she is not in it for the money. Her degree in Art history will serve her well, no doubt, in the entertainment industry.

Being a McCain, an accident of birth, does not make her stupid. You can't even get into Columbia without excellent test scores let alone graduate from there. She is interested in politics and isn't afraid to express her opinion. More often than not, I disagree with her, however, I respect her willingness to stand up for what she believes in and to hold different opinions than her dad.

She has self-confidence, something Bitchtol lacks. She sticks to the issues and doesn't dwell on perceived slights or waste time exacting revenge. She is a good political spokesperson for the millenium generation.

Hard to tell somebody "no" when their family's endowment funded the very building you are sitting in. The U of Texas refused W admission, because of poor grades. TRUE. He showed up at Yale for an interview (his father and grandfather graduasted from there) DRUNK. Then Poppy stepped in, made a large donation and voila, the dimmest bulb ever to become President, was admitted. Little Johnny McCain graduated from the Naval Academy 895th out of a class of 899. His father and grandfather were both admirals in the navy. See how THAT works?

How could she be a legacy anyway? Her dad, granddad, and great-granddad went to Annapolis. Her mother went to USC. Where's the legacy? At least do some research before you spout your opinion.

    3. Bristol and Sarah must be defended at all costs. The truth hurts their feelings, but if no one gave either of them the facts, then they couldn't continue their victim act.

Meghan is young, attractive, well-spoken, stylish and intelligent. There's absolutely no reason to compare her to Bristol, Wallow, or any of the Palin kids. If Meghan were raised by Todd and Sarah, what are the odds that Meghan would've graduated from Columbia or even high school with her class? What are the odds that she would now be able to speak in complete sentences? Finally, what are the odds that Meghan would have still not *popped out* some babies by now?

It's not Track, Bristol and Willow's fault that they had Todd and Sarah as their parents. But they are all adults now and responsible for their own personal and professional development going forward. Hopefully, they can overcome the bad habits learned at home of always making excuses for failures and blaming others or outright lying instead of facing reality.

Unfortunately, we will see it happen one way or another as long as they continue to force themselves on the reality-TV business, which has clearly rejected all of their *work* product in the only metric that matters in tv programming: ratings.

McCain is less Neanderthalish than the Palin girls in that she is pro-gay marriage, and I think she has a college degree. Otherwise, she owes her success entirely to her father's.

Okay, Krusty or whoever wrote this?
To be grammatical, it's "the difference between SHE and Bristol...."

Second, Meghan McCain is a graduate of Columbia University. Who knows what her grade point average was, but Columbia is one of the hardest colleges to get into, and has one of the most rigorous undergraduate programs. She got her degree at 22 -- Bristol's age now. She packed a lot into those four years. Bristol, you, too, could be getting your college degree, and be trained for a real job, if you'd had different priorities.

Let's see: Meghan also hasn't had a child out of wedlock, so she's free to produce and star in a show, without worrying about child care.

Her father was a real warrior, not a "Captain America." He's still in the U.S. Senate, so her interest in politics is logical. She hasn't simulated sex on a national tv show, then showed up on three reality shows as a sullen, monosyllabic narcissist, with a slim grasp on "reality."

Whether she's playing on her political connections or her sex appeal will be proven in the court of public opinion. Starting a show on a brand-new cable network probably won't pay much, and neither will she get many viewers, at least at first. Remember when Joan Rivers gave you a chance to be a pretend-producer for a day, and you rejected her offer? Well, Meghan's at least putting herself out there, for better or worse. She's TRYING.

To be grammatical, it's between HER and Bristol. "Between" is a preposition. "Her and Bristol" are the objects of the preposition; therefore, you use the objective case.

If you are going to correct someone's grammar, make sure you are correct. We have enough illiteracy in America.

The big difference is that Meghan is educated and stays on top of current events. She can speak intelligently about those events, consider options, and offer solutions. Whereas, Bristol can only parrot her mother's talking points, whine, and produce children.

Also, Meghan is apparently smart enough to use birth control.

That was also my reaction. She's only able to do this because of her blond (but is it real) hair, big boobs and last name. We cannot expect her to stray too far from the GOP path. I'm just sick and tired of "celebrity" reality or interview shows. I'd rather see good drama or comedy on television but they cost money so the cable networks rely more and more on z-list celebrity reality shows. I can guarantee that there will be nothing intellectually provocative on Meghan McCain's television show.

I agree. She was a panelist on one show, and the conversation related to something that happened years ago. Meghan twitted "That was before my time" giggle, giggle. Paul Begala snapped "The French Revolution was before MY time. but I READ about it" Perfect cut down. I doubt if he will be a guest on er show.

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind the Meaghan bashing. She seems pretty together to me and is willing to think for herself, not blindly following her father's stance. She does not try to hog the limelight. No reason for her not to have a TV show. I imagine it may be at least as great as Duck Dynasty :) Sorry, that was unfair. I know lots of people like DD, but it is a bit too corny for me. I'll check out Meaghan's show just to see what it is like. It will be too millenial for me. I'm from the baby boomer generation, but still think the younger kids have important stuff to say. They are/will be running our world soon, so best understand them! Good luck Meaghan.

I can tell you why. Because Meghan is obviously a liberal on civil rights, etc., but won't come out against her father's politics. And if Meghan is a fiscal conservative, it's because she's a trust fund kid. If she has more liberal leanings on social programs, she's hiding them either out of respect for her father or because she likes her role as "hip republican."

I can't muster up enough concern to even care about Meghan McCain, honestly.

Everyone says their reality tv show will be different. They're all going to be above the Kardashians or Real Housewives. But, they're all the same.

How long before they show you putting on a tight dress and going out drinking with your girlfriend? They didn't hire you for your astute political observations. If they did, you'd have a news show or even a talk show, not a "reality show."

You're cute, you have a famous father, you have an "edgy" personality (in that it looks like you might drink a little too much and make bad boyfriend choices).

Really? A headline or title is to get you to read the article - cute, tongue in cheek, punny, alliterative, suggestive and even misleading isn't above internet sites for clicks. Very few are concerned with being an accurate reflection of content.

Different Strokes wasn't a golf show
Full House wasn't really very full, nor was it a poker show
The History channel has little accurate history anymore, and you really don't learn much worth learning from The Learning Channel.
      Grow up.

    3. Really, 10:49? Did you miss the rest of my comment? Did you just crawl out from under a rock where there aren't any reality tv shows? Drama sells. Sex sells.

      Or maybe you missed this:
The 28-year-old author and blogger told the Television Critics Association on Friday that the show lets her "be crazy, be myself and talk about issues."

Your "grow up" gives you away every time, but I guess you just can't help yourself, can you?

And, for the record, "Different Strokes" isn't a golf reference. Or maybe you think Sly and the Family Stone were frequent country club patrons in the 1960s. In fact, "Different Strokes" was an appropriate title for the television show. I won't comment on Full House because I hate that crappy show.

But just for fun, lets look at what your kids have accomplished COMBINED versus the now 28-yr old woman, Meghan McCain. Sadly, you're not completely humiliated for your own failures as a parent and as a professional, but you should be. You are one of the main influences on your children and why they have accomplished nothing other than to mimic you. And you see how behaving like an angry, lying 14-yr old mean girl had worked out for you. Why would you wish the same misery and idiocy on your own kids?

Her resume is light years better than Sarah's

Sarah, Todd, Bristol, Willow and now Piper sport.
An example of which was Sarah ranting and raving on Greta as she waved her redneck white board about.
Perhaps Palin's rage on GVS was spurred by the news of Meghan's gig.
Palin spent Thursday in clunky Frankenstein shoes tromping around a farm discussing manure and soybeans
while Meghan gets to be in a nice studio and interview guests.
    That has to sting.

Reality TV. In with the new, out with the old.

The difference between Meghan McCain's enterprise is that: she does not PREACH to people. She doesn't PRETEND she's a religious person, nor does she SPEND energy trying to convince people she's a victimized persecuted christian. She does none of these things, therefore it's easily digestible when she chooses a public career, even a reality show.

The difference between those who shall not be named, is that they began their careers itching the ears of the christian populace, urging them to elect them, support and donate to them. The Palins branded themselves, preactically used an advertise campaign to brand themselves as crusaders of all that is good, just, moral and strong. They cut a deal with the devil and lured a lot of unsuspecting christians into their fold.

When fame knocks at their door, the Palins leave the 'christian' wolf costume at the cleaners and want to fully engage with the temptations of Hollywood and superficial celebutante lifestyles that it offers. Money, fame, fortune, attention, and more attention. While they do this, they still want their right-wing moralist donors to keep sending $$$ into their coffers, so they play both angles. They try to have one foot in the greedy power-broker world/political/celebrity world, and the other in the "God loves me and is on my side" camp.

True christians know it can't be done that way.

Meghan, on the other hand, is who she is and doesn't try to pretend, or ingratiate herself with groups that she exploits and uses, then drops.

    IMO, that's the difference.

Everyone has been very kind to Meghan, describing her years of experience writing immature blogs for Daily Beast and her educational background. If she is all that great, how come she had not been offered one TV gig since the 2008 election? Why is it on a new station, Pivot, which will debut next month? Why didn't Fox offer her a spot doing reports to attract a younger demographic? Rachel Maddow had been very kind to Meghan, having her appear on her show, and Meghan did not sound all that bright, nor did she have all that much to say. Rachel gave her a chance to be seen, and nobody was interested.

And, I'll be glad to make the same comments about Chelsea Clinton, too. She has had a great education and was raised in one of the most political families in the country. NBC has let her narrate some special segments that appear on a slow news day. Chelsea reads her script in a flat tone, and she is not interesting either. Some of the people on TV have an energy, exude personality, call it charisma or that Q factor, but for me, neither Meghan nor Chelsea have it. I don't want to watch either of them.

Uummm.........people can't seem to discern between those who choose to serve the public through the usual avenues, like education and investing time and energy in political studies to help in communities VERSUS those who'll do anything for a buck to get their face out there.

Why hasn't Meghan been offered a TV gig since the 2008 election or a spot on Fox? Do working-class people really care? Whether she can or can't make her debut on TV is up to her, but why does anyone make their "debut" on Fox or any other TV network have any relevance to what Americans are going through? Public discussion on issues on TV is fine, but there's too much of it, and there are few who take the road less traveled and train and work hard to make a difference, like those who offer themselves for public service, military, and humanitarian service. Comparing TV celebrity-dom to people like Chelsea is a mute point. Charisma and personality and Q factor may give a temporary thrill, but it does zero in helping one's fellow man; it does nothing to put food on the table and afford medical insurance for the struggling class.

Comparing Meghan McCain to the Palins isn't just lowering the bar, it's burying it in a manure pile.

No comparison is necessary to ascertain what kind of an airhead McCain is. One need only look back at her "work" -- like her brief, cushy yet scant career writing for Daily Beast during which, for example, a day spent with Occupy Wall Street produced such revelations as:

"What struck me more than anything is that for the first time possibly in history, people aren’t being given the same opportunities that my parents and grandparents had."

"for the first time in history" ??? Shocking !

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/10/24/meghan-mccain-s-day-at-occupy-wall-street.html

Then there was McCain's "body image war" in which she bravely fought back against criticism about her weight in "uniforms" that all seemed to be skin-tight. Sadly, she wound up so emotionally wounded that she had to be hauled away in a waaaahmbulance:

"I'm not super skinny, I have large breasts, I know, they're real, I can't do anything about it, and like the Internet just has this really weird reaction to my body ... I've seen a therapist about it."

"can't do anything about it" ?? How about NOT dressing like a hooker ? But then, that might affect her appeal:

"I don't really need people in politics or people [who are] a little bit older to understand or like me because there's enough college students out there that seem to like me and that's all I really care about."

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/12/meghan-mccain-therapist-body-image_n_1339054.html

Finally, she fought back the way ANY woman concerned about her body image would: she posed for Playboy (albeit clothed) and in the accompanying interview, by talking about sex whenever possible, for example, describing her sexual orientation as "'strictly d!ckly' (straight), adding: 'I can’t help it. I love sex and I love men.'"

She DID strike one note of truth by admitting that she told her father, had he won in '08:

“You would have the craziest first daughter ever, who’d be making ridiculous headlines and hurting the administration every step of the way.”

    http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2012/03/meghan-mccain-in-playboy-loving-sex-hating-bristol-palin/

If these few highlights of her "career" are any indication, McCain's TV show is likely to blaze new trails, perhaps by combining political commentary and lap dancing ... ?

But then, it must be terribly difficult for someone so angry, bitter AND semi-literate to ever make sense.

It's very brave of you to keep trying.

  35. Well, this was a... different thread. Watching the people supporting Meghan accused of being Palins, and watching the people opposing Meghan being accused of being Palins, and watching the idiot troll criticize people opposing either Bristol and Meghan of being immature (?) was... interesting? Or pointless? Both?

The Meghan hate campaign was driven by Beefy and the "I <3 Beefy" Fan Club (Krusty).

    Hey Creepy Chuckie, Jr.,

I know you're lurking and posting your drivel to stay in good with Sarah, your deranged sister, but I've got news for you: She's told a handful of people that she thought were friends that she's tired of you sponging off of her, and that she's going to stop playing pocket pool with you if you ask her for money one more time.

Next time you're begging her for an advance on your allowance, ask your sis this question, please... "Sarah, why do your boobs change sizes from day to day? Look at Meghan McCain's. They are always nice and profound, and Meghan even has cleavage to go with hers. Also Sarah, what's the deal when they slide up under your arm or one sags to your waist and the other is up under your chin?"

Thanks, Chuck. Hey, you been getting any strange trim on the side? (and nieces don't count, heh heh--- too easy)

I hate reality tv. It is boring and predictable. No acting skills. No plot. No sets. No nothing.

Meghan, I am sorry you are doing this. It will not give you any gravitas in any political career. What's next DWTS?

Perhaps Megan will let loose all of the Palin secrets? No reason not to now, it's been 5 years!

Never, unless she loses weight. Too chubby for Faux, they like them anorexic, like $carah.

I just used my superior power of "Google" and found this quote of Miss McCain:

    http://www.participantmedia.com/2013/05/hollywood-reporter-piece-meghan-mccains-show-pivot/

“Everything is being drawn from my own life,” says McCain. “I’m struggling. I don’t know if I want to get married or have kids. I don’t know what to do when a guy sends a sexy text message. You want to be with the times, but I’m pretty conservative when it comes to things like that"

Ehhh... struggling? "With your Louis "Mutton" Luggage" struggling? "Zipping up your black Oscar De La Renta long johns" struggling? or "Can't put food on the table" struggling?

Good Luck with that! Sounds like they're serious, they signed her up for ten shows, one including her daddy!!!! Woo Hoo!

LOVE the huffpo link. Daddy Cornteeth didn't like little Meggie being on MSNBC.

    Dirty Sexy Money Rebel! Awesome!
Bonus photo montage of Meghan over the years!!!

      Anita,
Don't you think she means struggling emotionally? It doesn't matter how rich someone is; they can still struggle with emotional and moral issues.
