Just another reminder as to why I don't shop at Wal-Mart.

Just add this to my previous posts about why I avoid this store.

Seriously if they filmed a reality show about Wal-Mart shoppers nobody would believe it.

Well besides Wal-Mart shoppers of course.

I can't imagine why anyone would either work there or shop there. WalMart is a microcosm of American society, both the workers and the shoppers. What a strange place.

As to why some people work there?

They have this nasty habit: they like to EAT! Desperation explains a lot!

Waller couldn't make it halfway up the side before the whole damn thing collapsed. Oh, not because she's fat or anything like that, Oh no, of course not.

They just don't make bouncy-ball displays the way they used to when they were Mericun-made. The Indonesian girls they use now to test their wares aren't as, um, big-boned.

Talk about "Falling Prices!" And did you notice the number "0" hitting the floor as the balls sought to escape?

    : )

I dunno. I kinda liked the way her dress rode up when she fell. I'm 63 years old. I'll probably die soon.

I remember going to Wal-Mart once in the wee hours of the morning years ago. My husband had just gotten off duty and couldn't sleep, so we were gonna walk around a bit. But he saw one of those little scooters and decided that this was the day he was going to finally try one out.
Imagine a full-grown military man, tears of hysterical laughter running down his face, toot-tooting along at .05 mph (pretty sure that battery was just about dead). He did that for over an hour and never stopped laughing. From then on I made sure he got the necessary sleep before going out in public LOL

I boycott WalMart as well once I learned how destitute their employees are and how WalMart, whose owners are zillionaires, pretty much counts on govt welfare to subsidize what they fail to provide their employees. Then recently they tried to intimidate DC by threatening to pull out on new stores if DC passed the living wage law! So glad DC gavr them the middle finger amd didnt kiss their ass!

I hope you also boycott McDonalds, Best Buy, and all the other companies that pay their employees with a debit card that takes a large portion of their pay out in hidden fees! WalMart may be in the spotlight but it isn't the only company screwing it's employees.

I agree with SusaninMD. That's only reason to boycott them, however. They also make sure most employees never work more than 30 hours a week so they don't have to provide any benefits, they are one of the worst offenders in selling products made in sweatshops in 3rd world countries, they have run thousands and thousands of small, local entrepreneurs out of business. Although they have stopped the practice due to public outcry, several years ago they were providing employees with free life insurance with Walmart as the sole beneficiary, and collecting on it when an employee died (without sharing it with deserving family of the deceased.) I know some people feel they have to shop there to make ends meet, and I am fortunate enough that I can shop elsewhere without impoverishing myself. However, I also know that even when I had very little money I could not bring myself to set foot in one of their stores and endorse their corporate values (or lack thereof).

In the 20-ish years that Walmart has existed in my town, I've shopped there maybe 3-4 times. I'm not sure of the exact number, as I was in a post-divorce haze. So I figure those times don't count. I just won't go there; I'd rather go without than give them a penny. The upside of having a Walmart in town is that the other smaller stores are noticeably free of screaming rug rats and their inattentive keepers.

As for the video, I've seen lots worse on peopleofwalmart.

In Anchorage, in the early years before Wal-Mart, my family had only Montgomery Wards, Sears (when it finally was built), Pay'nSave, Penneys, and a lot of mom and pop stores to buy our food, clothes, household items, etc., from.

And those stores were extremely expensive. All of them. And seriously, a lot of our clothes were ordered from the Penneys and Sears catalogs. So a little observation from the wayback machine.

My family was dirt poor - however, we did take advantage of second hand stores which was awesome, but our milk was powdered, and eating meat was rare.

So, I entirely understand the CONCEPT that Wal-Mart is bad news, not only for its employees, but for the economy. However, I wish we had a Wal-Mart in Anchorage when I was growing up there. It would have made life for my family more affordable.

You should try walking in other peoples' shoes before you attack them and their shopping habits.
