US Marines official Twitter account quotes Sarah Palin, thinks better of it, and takes it down. Uh oh. are those tinfoil hats coming over the horizon?

Here is the quote, captured by the totally not overreacting SooperMexican:

Personally I don't see a problem with quoting this. After all Palin said something nice about the Marines, she is a national figure, and they felt grateful.

No harm, no foul.

And this Sooper Mexican guy agreed, but he also made a prediction:

It’s a perfectly innocuous quote, but Sarah Palin seems to bring the most evil, disgusting and obscene side out of the liberal left. I just hope they don’t wuss out and delete their tweet like the various US Embassy twitter accounts have recently.

Well as you can imagine it WAS deleted, apparently after some mocking on Twitter from other military personnel and civilians.

So you know what THAT means, LEFTIST SOCIALISTS ARE MAKING THE US MARINES DELETE TWEETS!

Or, and this is just me thinking outside of the big box of crazy, the person who posted that on behalf of the Marines was told by his commander, very likely NOT a Leftist, that quoting Sarah Palin made the Marines look like idiots and asked that it be taken down.

But hey, what do I know? After all I am just a Leftist.

As of 5 PM EDT, it's back up:
    Sarah Palin ‏@SarahPalinUSA 3h

RT @USMC: “America's finest - our men and women in uniform, are a force for good throughout the world.” ― Sarah Palin

It is not the Marine's birthday or anniversary. There are other branches of the military who are also "a force for good throughout the world." (What a phrase to make other countries hate us). Sarah should be sticking to her store bought beer batter mix and her by jingy folksy fishing reports. And, wishing people a pre-Independence Day week, too, also.

I don't know why they took it down, and why it needs to be up there. This is the time when we should be celebrating 1. US independence from England 2. Alaska's independence from Governor Palin, 4 year anniversary 3. Egypt's right to a democratic government 4. Happy 4th of July everyone.

No, Sarah retweeted it herself, like a whiny crybaby

Does that message mean she includes the gays in the military also, too?

She's like a piece of shit on the bottom of your shoe that needs to be scraped off (her tweets).

It doesn't matter if it's a harmless quote. It's touting an endorsement from a moron who has said incredibly stupid, divisive things elsewhere.

I doubt Afghanistan and Iraq see us as 'a force for good.' You can brainwash the troops all you like, but to me, murder is murder. And that is against the commandments they so ardently support (well, some of them...OK, none of them, but they say they do!) The reason we have so many service members needing mental health care when they return is that they see and do horrible things in the name of "the USA." So of course Sarah the Bulldog thinks they are swell folks..carrying big guns and all. Me, I'd rather see us work for peace and stop killing people...via drones or soldiers.

The Palin quote should never have been posted, simply because the Armed Services are supposed to be above and out-of-reach of politicians and political influence.
Her thoughts weren't original. Surely, the same sentiment could be found from the writings of a U.S. luminary who's long gone?
Plus, her idea about American exceptionalism can be viewed as jingoistic and provocative by the rest of the world.
No judgment was used when this was posted -- luckily, someone with higher authority and more sense took it down.

  6. If you look at http://www.navy.com, the motto on every page is: "A Global Force for Good"
Did Sarah tick off the Marines by using the wrong 'motto' or are they just ashamed to be acknowledged by her - or both?

Palin is just a plain old citizen like the rest of us. Why should the USMC let her speak for them?

She has never been a Marine, don't recall any of the 'warriors' in her family being Semper Fi either. They were right to take it down rather than giving her free publicity and not because we libs would whine. A message would have felt better from a real Marine, not a fake nobody.

Actually, she was quoting the US Navy's recent advertisements for "America's Navy, A Global Force for good'. As with everything Sarah Palin says, she only parrots what she hears (and messes it up).

Having a divisive person quote another military branch's words no doubt caused what is known as "an erosion of unit cohesion" – a dangerous no-no in any military unit.

Boy oh boy! Sarah Palin cannot get the approval or likes of anyone anymore can she? The military (Marines) are not supporting her statement and want zero affiliation w/her, the national Republican party wants nothing to do w/her, the Republican party in Alaska isn't including her (Boehner/House/Congress was just in Anchorage for a fund raiser) and on and on.

She is getting exactly what she deserves!!!!

I'm sorry to say that it was a most trite comment to begin with. The marine should have mentioned Mrs. Palin's affinity for warrior bodies (including her own son's). Now THAT would have made a statement.

Her son wasn't a marine and he wasn't a combat vet like mine.

Put up a tweet, "delete" it, get mocked for bumbling. Seems like the USMC should have its act together better.

The only people mocking the Marines for removing a tweet from a vicious, worthless whackjob who regularly incites hatred of their commander-in-chief are those who would no more volunteer to inconvenience themselves to defend their country than fly to the moon.

(Unless, as with Track, that was the preferable of the two options.)

All that "postage" waiting for anyone to mention her, and boom like a firecracker. That wasn't her.
Isn't she out on a boat? Isn't she...isn't she.... Hot DAMN, that girl gets around and only the pee pond cares... wink wink.

She just can't QUIT us on Quitting Day! The only crown she'll ever hold.

  13. My God what are they thinking? Surely the could have found someone to quote from the millions of people on this earth beside the wreck palin. GMAFB

Quoting an insufferable uneducated media whore, a freely dissing President Obama on nothing creep and a pure lying racist bitch who at time doesn't even write her own damned fucking fb/tweets bullshit makes the Marines look stupid. THINK!

Probably one lonely ahole who posted it. I wonder who it was and what kind of reprimand he/she received?

They lost major points on their ignorance.

How'd they not manage to throw in "warrior bodies," in any topic involving hero soldiers and whatnot when it comes from a Palin?

  15. Sigh. 140 characters, and the tweet contains both a punctuation error and a subject/verb agreement error. But hey, she went to journalism school.

  16. Wow, because just about everyone NEVER tweets anything stupid (if you think it is). And NO ONE ever made fun of President Bush. Oh, and what is that Constitutional thing about freedom of speech again? Oh, you're only allowed to say something the sheeple agree with ... now I get it. Kimye, get back to work, the people with the 3 brain cells are bored.
