BREAKING: The jury question is related to the jury instructions on manslaughter. #trayvonmatin #georgezimmermanThis is breaking news right now, I will update as information comes in.
— Jonathan Capehart (@CapehartJ) July 13, 2013
Update: There is a verdict in and we should know what it is in about fifteen minutes.
Somewhere there are Fox News reporters hoping to report on race riots.
The verdict is not guilty.
Fucking unbelievable!
Just get home and wondering about the jury verdict and this could be a sign that they are close to deciding today, instead of waiting until Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Trayvon supporter. This boy's life was taken from him because someone recklessly provoked this incident; even if Trayvon tried to fight this guy off, his life should never have been taken. How is this case going to prevent this from occuring again in FLorida if these laws protect armed untrained vigilantes?
Everyone is "Shocked" at NG. But you have to remember this is FL.
DeleteKind of like Alaska. You know "Rill 'merika". Where you can get away pimping and killing people.
This country is going down like a third world country. Thanks GOP. YOU DID THAT!
Am too disgusted for words right now....
I am definitely not shocked. The hope that Trayvon's family has left is the civil trial where Zimmerman has to testify and their lawyers will tear him a new one regarding all his inconsistencies and not shy away from some of the issues the prosecutors did. Remember that is how the Goldmans finally got justice with OJ after the criminal trial jury kicked him loose. I just want things to stay calm. That would piss off Fox News.

DeleteLet the protest begin...
Justice 4 Trayvon!
This is so awful! He should have been found guilty! What's wrong with the twisted thinking of the jurors and the judges twisted instructions. There is no way that this murder was justified! How sad this is for our country! Guns are more important than people, teenagers and children--all who are innocent and lose their lives because of the paranoia of the fear that is permeating our country. Thank you Faux News and Lush Limbaugh!
DeleteIt seems that the defense lawyers might have been a bit too cocky. They were so sure that they would get a not guilty verdict. West ticked the judge off every chance he could. O'Mara's closing remarks, to me, were very weak. In fact, he was not passionate at all and seemed to be very cocky and mocking of the prosecution.
ReplyDeleteProbably SHOULDN'T have posted that picture, eh? I don't think he "won" a decision since he did.
DeleteI'm sure the fat slob will use that when he appeals his manslaughter conviction.
Not passionate enough? Are jurors expected to decide on passion or on evidence?
DeleteI've been avoiding MSNBC all week, because this trial sickens me. How could the killing of an innocent unarmed teenager by a mentally unstable wanna be vigilante be anything other than manslaughter ? Murder 2 is a stretch here, but Zimmerman should have never gotten out of his car...everything else is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteVirginia Voter
IMO: TM probably punched that fat asshole in the face, causing him to fall (and get the cut on his head). TM probably hit him a few more times when he was on the ground, and GZ started calling for help. TM, afraid of getting arrested, got up and THAT is when he got shot. Which makes it murder.
DeleteI'm basing this on the fact that the unbiased medical examiner said that the bullet wound was NOT close contact, which means it couldn't have been when they were struggling, which is what the fat fuck said at first. (I'm pretty sure the story changed from -- he got shot while they were struggling to GZ was getting his head "bashed" on the concrete and shot TM in self-defense. Which is, of course, very different and more evidence of the fat fuck's lies -- along with the fact that GZ had his head "bashed" on the concrete 20+ times). Also, I read something by a VERY pro-GZ forensic expert who was surprised by the lack of TM's blood on GZ. Because...think about it. Someone is sitting on your chest, pounding away on you, and you shoot them, they're going to fall forward, on top of you, and you're going to be covered in that person's blood, right? If TM was getting up, off of GZ, that would explain the fact that there wasn't much of TM's blood on him and the fact that the wound was from an intermediate range. Plus GZ clearly has anger management issues, which was never brought up in court, as far as I know.
I haven't been watching the court case that closely but that's my amateur opinion...maybe I watch too much Dexter?
Good way to learn about a case. Avoid watching? I have been watching everything I could for the last year+, and the evidence was very much in Zimmerman's favor of self defense.

I think Zimmerman should go to jail for his actions. He followed Trayvon - had a gun with a bullet in the chamber and killed him. I think Trayvon defended himself, not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteTo jail Georgey Porgey!
Apparently, Stand Your Ground only applies if you're NOT black.
DeleteSelf-defense only applies if you've got the gun and are following the unarmed kid.
How screwed up is our justice system???
Not surprised by the words of a Palin lover, Mark Levin, slamming the judge.......
ReplyDeleteMark Levin Slams Zimmerman Judge For ‘Outrageous’ Attitude, Says She Looks Like…?
Radio host Mark Levin, unhappy with Judge Debra Nelson’s treatment of the defense lawyers, implied on Friday that she looked like a man.
Levin was infuriated over Nelson’s questioning of defendant George Zimmerman on Thursday, over the objection of the defense lawyers who had not yet rested the case.
The judge could have handled this much differently,” Levin said. “But she was confrontational and she was argumentative. So not only is the timing absurd, but the way in which she did it was outrageous!”
“Defense counsel has the right to object and to state his objections,” he continued. “The judge isn’t supposed to be offended by it. I believe she’s been on the bench since 1999, she was put there by Jeb Bush, she should know she’s supposed to have a little bit of tolerance. Like, I could never be a judge. I would never want to be a judge. But she is a judge! People’s lives are on the line!”
Levin played the recording of the questioning after Judge Nelson had batted down the defenses objections, in which Zimmerman’s muttered statements of “Yes, Your Honor,” do sound like “Yes, sir.”
“By the way, does he keep calling her ‘Yes, sir?’” Levin asked. “Well, take a look, it’s close.”
Listen to his comments below:

All the court news contributors talk about the law being clear. I keep hearing Caffey asking "Are we clear?" and Kernel Jessop responding "Crystal".
ReplyDeleteI'll be satisfied with a manslaughter conviction.
ReplyDeleteI'll be outraged if Zimmerman is acquitted. He committed a horrible crime and for me he personifies a gun culture of bigotry and cowardice.
I wish Levin would, if he could, remove his finger from his nose during his broadcasts. He is another guy with a shrill girly voice that I find grating. I am waiting for him to squeal and hug his guests.
ReplyDeleteWho paid for Zimmerman's defense--NRA? I was leaving the 7-11 the other night when a young man walked in with his kid, wife, and sidearm. Come on Boy!! If the 7-11 is too dangerous, don't go!!!
Zimmerman had the gun pulled and ready to shot before the kid had a second thought.
Zimmerman's thought was to 1) carry gun in shooting hand 2) provoke a response from a Black child; 3) Kill said child; 3) become hero and replace Sarah as our nation's national victim. Zimmerman now goes on national speaking tour.
BTW, I'm a girl who is afraid of big crickets.
I will be happy with either version of guilty.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible that Zimmerman could walk around a gated community as a neighborhood watchman with a loaded gun, while following anyone he thought suspicious. What was never addressed is if these townhouse neighbors who witnessed a fight in the rain didn't show one ounce of concern about him enticing a fight with a stranger, while he (Zimmerman was carrying a loaded weapon). Did any of these families ever wonder what might have happened if a struggle for the gun had ensued and a shot misfired? He could have been responsible for a bypasser or a resident in their beds being shot?
ReplyDeleteWhat if his gun had gone off and a bullet had killed a child in these homes? If a child of any of these families in these townhouses had been killed or wounded, what would Florida law do in this case? Would the Sanford Police have just let him go?
It's interesting that if a resident or child had been accidentally shot, he would have at least been arrested for endangering the community and possibly manslaughter, but because the victim was a black kid, they just chalk it off as him doing his duty as a good citizen.
I can't wait for George to go to jail. Bubba is waiting in Cell Black A.
ReplyDeleteI think Zimmerman should go to prison. I don't think he or anyone deserves to be raped. I'm afraid we're going to hear a lot of these jokes if (hopefully when) Zimmerman is convicted. But rape, even prison rape, isn't funny. People are sentenced to lose their freedom, not to be beaten up on a daily basis or raped. In fact, the amount of assault, rape, and murder in our prisons most likely makes incarceration a cruel and unusual punishment. I hope we can rise above that kind of barbarism.
DeleteI don't know. Maybe this is the kind of sexytime he needs to distress from living a life so dangerous that he had to carry a gun to a convenience store.
DeleteZimmerman, just trying to maintain the stereotype that all Black males are to be feared.
ReplyDeleteZimmerman and the NRA are going to put a stop to everyone fearing for their life with Black males. This serves notice to the President as well.
Very chilling. We have cell phones, huge tvs, and computers but it is still ok to kill a child.
In prison Zimmerman might find that his worst nightmare (black males are to be feared) comes true. He might not survive to complete his sentence. It's that karma stuff again.
ReplyDeleteI know it's sounds shallow, but I feel I know all I need to know about a person if they display support for George Zimmerman.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way.
DeleteIt is really difficult to look at the evidence and come up with the wrong conclusion. I am extremely unhappy that I am being judged by a careful consideration of the evidence available. I have been called a racist when this should not be about race. I am seeing George Zimmerman being profiled because he has an eating disorder. Mostly I am disappointed to the errors people have repeated because they listen to only one side.
DeleteAnd, on a shallower note, me thinks that if Zimmerman goes to jail, he will truly understand why we girls understand that once you go Black, you never go back. And, plus, he wont have to worry about keeping those pretty front teeth anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have accused of being racist?
DeleteA child killer and a coward.
ReplyDeleteOh oh, they've reached a verdict.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Zim look relaxed and happy? Does he know something we don't know?
OMG. What a gut punch. Justice was not served!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of fucking bullshit.
ReplyDeletefucking assholes at c4p- a child is DEAD. a man shot a child with a pocket full of skittles and walks free while a child is DEAD.
ReplyDeleteI HOPE ALL OF THOSE ASSHOLES OUT THERE ARE SURE EACH NIGHT THAT THEIR CHILDREN ARE SAFE BECAUSE NO CHILD IS SAFE WITH THE GEORGE ZIMMERMANS OF THE WORLD OUT THERE AND THERE ARE MILLIONS OF THEM.
FUCKING GUN TOTING LITTLE DICK ASSHOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FUCK THEM ALL.

One of these days Zimmerman is going to act out again and wind up back in court, where he will not be so lucky. He has a history of getting violent with people, so it's just a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteIn Florida, the crime of Walking With Skittles and Iced Tea While Black is an offense punishable by death.
ReplyDeleteI am horrified.
They kept saying it has nothing to do with civil rights and race, yeah right!
ReplyDeleteIf the races were reversed, would the outcome be the same? What a disgrace.
I hope the truth comes out in the civil suit, Zimmy will definitely have to testify, along with the Sanford Police Department.
We can only hope that Trayvon's family files civil charges against Zimmerman and gets a huge award.
ReplyDeleteNot that it will make up for this horrible verdict, but it may discourage other vigilantes from being so trigger-happy.
It worked in the case of OJ Simpson...found not guilty of a crime but guilty of wrongful death in the civil trial.
It's a little different if the suit is against someone with no assets.
DeleteYes but in civil court he has to testify. Maybe he will reveal the truth when he does and then we got him
DeleteHow very very disappointing. One thing for sure, he'll never lead a normal life in society. He'll be mocked and harassed just like Casey Anthony. But even then, justice was not served in this case and he should have received at least man-slaughter.
ReplyDeleteHe has a history of violence. The jurors should fear the blood that will be on their hands in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt's total bullshit. So this means you can pick a fight with anyone, start to lose the fight, and then pull out your hidden gun and shoot the guy, claiming you were afraid for your life? Fucking unbelievable. Florida, you are one fucked up state. And the jurors don't want to be identified. I wonder how long that's going to last...
ReplyDeleteShocking verdict.
ReplyDeleteFeels like OJ again.
What about Trayvon's right to self-defense?
A dark day.
Just awful. There'll never be a way to bring Trayvon back and Zimmerman, despite all the pats and congratulations and levity of the Defense, is going to have this act on his conscience for the rest of his life. He may think he feels vindicated, but there'll be a time in his life, if he ever has children, and his future son is 17 years and three weeks old, that he'll feel that shiver up his back and remember how his recklessness and pride killed someone else's son.
ReplyDeleteWhat we learned on July 13th:
ReplyDeleteMedically removing a parasitic cluster of cells from a woman's internal organs = murder.
Stalking and shooting an unarmed seventeen-year-old = not murder.
wtf.
Puck
DeletePerfection.a thousand likes. Horrible injustice. Horrifying statement but absolutely perfect.
Though the mills of God grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding small;
ReplyDeleteThough with patience he stands waiting, with exactness grinds he all.
Karama is the bitch GZ will meet someday...hope it's soon.
This is just all to deflect the fact Sarah no longer lives with her minor children in AK. Weeks after the show, it's so obvious what the spew is supposed to do, deflect, deflect, deflect.
ReplyDeleteFlorida and Texas....unfuckingbelievable!
ReplyDeleteSomeone on HP made a comment similar to that of Martha @ 8:47.
ReplyDeleteSo many questions. Why didn't Zimmerman stay in his auto if he believed Trayvon was a threat? My sense is that he wanted to escalate the situation. "These assholes always get away," he muttered under his breath. Ergo he ignored the dispatcher's advice not to follow Trayvon.
Trayvon was younger and stronger, but he was unarmed and minding his own business. I believe he was the one who stood his ground when confronted by the gun-toting Zimmerman. Trayvon's cries for help keep me awake nights.
Two of my grandsons are tall, strapping young teenagers. Now I think I must warn them not to wear hoodies. Also, not to go to convenience stores to buy candy and iced tea. Or to walk along the sidewalk in gated neighborhoods.
At least one juror had a question about manslaughter, but she/they didn't follow up when the judge said it wasn't specific enough. Perhaps in the ensuing days we'll learn more about this.
Neighborhood watches are not intended to encourage gun enthusiasts to go out looking for trouble. If George Zimmerman has a conscience, Trayvon Martin will haunt him while we wait for karma or the mills of God to effect atonement for this sin.
Not only does he get to walk scot-free, but he also gets to get his murder weapon back, and his lawyers will somehow try to make him immune from civil lawsuits.
ReplyDeleteContrast this to the young black Florida woman who got twenty years behind bars just for firing a couple of warning shots OVER her ex husband, who had violated a restraining order. She did not even HIT him!
