Proving once again that the right wing has lost all respect for the office of the Presidency of the United States, Republican Rep. Martha Roby (R- Alabama) failed to call out an extremist bigot who at a Tea Party meeting yesterday who called Pres. Barack Obama a “Foreign-Born America-hating communist despot”.
Adding insult to injury, she laughed (video below) in apparent agreement with the bigoted man’s comment. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she went on to dignify his question with a response about her how seriously she takes her duty of “government oversight”.
This is a big part of the reason why Pres. Obama trounced Mitt Romney in 2012, and why the Republican Party continues to push away moderates, minorities, young Americans, students, and the like. Instead of shining a spotlight on the ugliest and most extreme elements lurking and growing within their party, they are happy to look the other way as bigotry and xenophobia slowly capture their base.
Personally I hope that they continue down this path.
They are losing women, minorities, and young people at an amazing rate, leaving only elderly white males as the base of their base.
And let's fact it, how many of THEM will even still be around for the next few elections? After each election day, their numbers diminish just a little bit more, while on the progressive side new voters are being added every day.
And that my friends, is good news for our country.
And, to think that the idiot Sarah Palin put them on this path to destruction!!! She turns everything to shit that she touches!

Pretty sad, huh? And infuriating. But ignorance and bigotry are both legal, and never go out of style in many areas of the country.
It is simply unfiltered racism. Spoken by some, laughed at by others. Hard to imagine another President who could take all they throw & still come up as the President of all of these United States
ReplyDeleteMartha looks a little brown. Not sure why the baggers would embrace her. There's definitely something "foreign" in her genetic woodpile. Oh, but wait, George Zimmerman was embraced by these types of people even though he looks more Mexican than most Mexicans. I guess if you jump on the bandwagon of hate, misogyny and bigotry then you are one of them, regardless of your skin color.

ReplyDeleteSaw a big motorhome with AZ plates down in Seward a few days ago with an interesting American flag display on the front grill. A yellow glove was mounted on the RV with a small American Flag attached to the middle finger of the glove. Back of the vehicle was plastered with Tea Party bumper stickers. The only way I can interpret that glove/flag thing is "F" the USA. I thought about trying to engage the owner in conversation and letting him know how I, as a Veteran, felt about it, but with the "Stand Your Ground" laws, I figured it might be a good way to get shot.
ReplyDeleteWhile walking through my neighborhood I saw an American Flag draped over a wood pile. Now I identify as a "tree huggin" liberal but as an American I was offended. I live in the pretty liberal state of MA but there's a lot of brick head repugs here too. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy screams "patriot" all the time while he disrespects our flag!
