Courtesy of ABC Net:
One Nation candidate Stephanie Banister, who made international headlines after describing Islam as a country, has pulled out of the federal election race.
The party has confirmed that Ms Banister is no longer seeking election in the Queensland seat of Rankin.
One Nation leader Jim Savage says she was not disendorsed, but made the decision to withdraw following ridicule and threats.
"Stephanie Banister has withdrawn her nomination to stand following the disgraceful way she has been portrayed by recent media [and] ridicule over a minor gaffe in a statement she made to Channel Seven," he said in a statement to the ABC.
Well she may be like Palin for quitting, but she is NOT like our usual politicians in that she was embarrassed enough to leave office.
If only Anthony Wiener would take a page out of her book.
There is also some talk that she was threatened, but I always reserve judgement on that as a lot of these crazy people claim to have been harassed and threatened when in fact they exaggerated the incidents or made them up altogether.
Well good for you Australia! You dodged a crazy ass bullet with that one!
Now we will just wait for the next politician to idiotic things and watch the Palin comparisons start all over again. Cause you KNOW they will.
and blaming the lamestream media for their "disgraceful" reporting of facts, just like Sarah... unlike Sarah and good for Australia, she'll likely fade into oblivion. If only we could be so lucky.

DeleteOnly in America would this woman would have no trouble getting elected.
ReplyDeleteShe should move to Alaska and run for governor. I've heard they don't have any standards up their.
DeleteOur Sarah, with her deep, deep tan, covering irish freckly skin (see her dorm room picture) is the poster girl for skin cancer and stunted intellectual growth.
ReplyDeleteUm, excuse me, sir, but since when is calling islam a COUNTRY a "minor gaffe"?
ReplyDeleteHe's dumber than SHE is!
Both women made the same mistake. They spoke out loud.
ReplyDeleteAlan Grayson Fears A World Where 'Dictator Palin' Rules Domestic Spying Programs

Oh crap, the pee pond has already decided he's just skeered of her so lashing out.
DeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA
I love Alan Grayson.
DeleteRemember this?

Alan Grayson grew up in the tenement buildings of the Bronx and worked his way through Harvard as a janitor, graduating with honors. He's not scared of the likes of Sarah Palin.
DeleteJust like Our $arah, saying incredibly dumb shit, getting hammered for it in the media, and then playing victim, and claiming false "threats" as a reason.
ReplyDeleteBanister & Paylin are just two symptoms of the Christian Taliban movement.
Why she doesn't get press anymore. The pee pond last night said, she waits until the VERY last minute to endorse a candidate because she's smart and wins people over! You know, WWSD....we vote like that! hahahaha
DeleteI don't know what was funnier. That or a politicalgates poster that infiltrated and poor VG1 darn near ran out of oxygen calling her out. No offense to VG, my Dad is in ill health, too, and dying. MAN those pees stand by their man...errr...woman...err...cyborg.
Noooo, Sarah quit an elected position for which she was supremely unqualified. This unqualified Aussie dropped out of the race before elected. That actually shows she is much smarter than our Sarah.
ReplyDeleteElected positions that "our Saeah" never worked.
DeleteSarah, the stupid, retorts
ReplyDelete"Big Flippin' Dill, I Quit FIRST!"
In fairness to Banister, she didn't quit - the same people who pushed her into the candidacy in her party saw her interview and pulled their support.
ReplyDeleteIf the Republicans had done that with Sarah Palin back in 2008 Obama's presidency would be a lot smoother sailing...

This woman is smarter than Sarah Palin. She knows when to sit down and shut up.
ReplyDeletePalin personified: "No one puts baby in a corner."

You guys are way off. Palin is a Hanson. Oz had a hard working mom with commonsense crazee first. Her name is Pauline Hanson. I was living in Oz at the time. (Hurray for universal healthcare, a safety net that keeps people out of abject poverty, gender equality for wages, LGBT rights, and many other things we only dream about. Oz doesn't copy the US. It leads.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Hanson
