Police officer pulls George Zimmerman over for speeding, sees gun, tells him "Don't play with your firearm, okay?"

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

The Sunday traffic stop, which was captured on the officer's dashboard camera, lasted about five minutes.

"It wasn't for super-excessive speeds, they just got him on regular speeding," Brooks told Reuters. "It's a pretty routine stop except for the fact that it was George Zimmerman."

On the dashcam video, the Zimmerman says "Nowhere in particular" when Officer A.R. Humphrey asks him where he is headed.

"Nowhere in particular. Why do you say that?" the officer responds.

"You didn't see my name?" Zimmerman replies.

The officer then studies Zimmerman's driver's license and says, "What a coincidence."

Asked by the officer if he was clear of criminal warrants, Zimmerman replies, "Absolutely." "Go ahead and shut your glove compartment, and don't play with your firearm, OK?" the officer says before walking back to his patrol car to check Zimmerman's license and vehicle registration.

Earlier reports were that the gun was sitting on the seat next to Zimmerman, however Forney city manager Brian Brooks claims that the gun was in the glove compartment and not loose in the vehicle.

So what we know for sure is that a man who was JUST acquitted of the second degree murder of an unarmed teenager is currently riding around Texas, going "nowhere in particular," with a loaded weapon in his vehicle.

Yeah if I lived in Texas that would cause me a great deal of concern.

But wait I forgot, I'm white. So I guess I would keep me safe, right?

Seems to me that someone who murders another person should NOT have a gun permit, no matter the verdict. He killed a teen. In anger. Now he's roaming around Texas looking for trouble? Who does he think will get him off next time. Maybe he should review the death penalty cases in Texas..oh wait, they only gas blacks there.

It's not murder without a verdict.

      @ 4:09.

      No, that's killing.

"Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human, and generally this premeditated state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter). A person who commits murder is called a murderer.[1]"

This quote is taken from WikiPedia. There are THOUSANDS of other sites which will produce the same definition (with minor variations).

If you cannot distinguish between KILLING and MURDER, then you cannot accept what a soldier does and you must accuse him/her of murder also.

Is he running away from his beloved wife, who'll be tried soon for perjury, having lied about the money in their defense fund.

Nooooooo the officer really tol him not to play with his WEAPON! George was actually playing with himself. The reason he didn't get a ticket was the officer was too creeped out and he wanted to get somewhere fast and wash his hands after handling George's license.

When was the last time you heard a cop in the South tell a Hispanic looking dude, "Go ahead and shut your glove compartment, and don't play with your firearm, OK?"

Something is not right about this story. Just like the one where he supposedly rescued a family from a burning car.

These two recent things about Zimmerman seem weird to me too. We no longer are hearing about Trayvon, (already!) but Zimmerman is in the news twice. What the hell is wrong w/our media? Neither story about Zimmerman makes sense to me.

Will anyone be surprised that they find him dead soon? He looks like he is honkering for a fight!!!

I'm sure Zims isn't long for this world. He's a smarmy killer that got away with murder and someone will find him and finally make him pay for his crime. It happens. If he would have went to jail he'd have been dead "by his own hand" in a few months or years. Cold blooded killers and liars such as him don't last long, either behind bars or in the big wide world.

2:36, I will say the same thing to you about Zimmerman that I said to others about OJ when HE was acquitted: He was found NOT GUILTY!

I don't like it. You don't like it. MANY people don't like it.

However, BECAUSE he was tried and found not guilty, he is a free man with no criminal record. According to the results of the trial, he did not MURDER anyone.

You can scream as loudly as you want, just as many did with OJ.

But in THIS country, being found NOT GUILTY is the end of it as far as the law is concerned. That being the case, he has as much right as anyone who has never had a legal problem to own a firearm.

I don't have to LIKE it, but this is a country of LAWS, and if we don't stand by those laws and we take matters in our own hands when something happens (like his trial) that we don't like, then we may as well quit right now.

Our Constitution gives us freedom of speech. There are many things that are said that I seriously find fault with - but I spent four years in the service DEFENDING that right and would have spent 30 if I hadn't gotten a medical discharge.

I do NOT have to like what someone is saying to defend it (unless and until that someone says something illegal such as inciting to riot or a bombing threat or sedition.)

Having said that, however, he STILL has a whole lot to worry about with his situation being examined by the Feds for violation of civil rights and etc., and I, for one, sincerely hope they nail his ass to the wall. Further, I hope that the parents sue him for wrongful death.

    Until then...? NADA.

You are wrong about "the end of it". OJ was tried and convicted for wrongful death in a civil court. Acquittal for murder did not "end" the guilt for OJ.

If there was a Fred Goldman-like parent in the picture, George Zimmerman would be tried for wrongful death (and quite likely convicted).

He's still a killer, even if he's not a convicted murderer.

    3. Leland2:35 AM

      @5:11. 'the end of it".

IT in this case is relating to the murder charge. He can NOT be tried twice for the same crime. (His trial was successfully completed without mistrial or the like.) It is OVER!

If you read a little closer, you will see I go on to say exactly the same thing about the wrongful death charge as you. However, THAT is a DIFFERENT charge, as is the potential for violation of civil rights - again, as I mentioned. "The end of it...." refers to the murder charge. Period.

As for your statement "did not end the guilt for OJ...." it did in the eyes of the law.

There is a major difference between murder and wrongful death. If you check, murder is a criminal offense. Wrongful death is a CIVIL case and generally requires considerably less "concrete" evidence. In zimmerman's case, there would be very little trial since it is KNOWN he killed the boy!

      @ 5:11 AND 5:20.

Read what I wrote again and you will see that not once did I even intimate that he wasn't a killer and wasn't responsible for the death. I was responding to 2:36, the first commenter in this posting. (Somehow I clicked on comment instead of reply.) It sounded to me like a pretty vicious rant and I was responding IT.

Juror B29 said "Zimmerman got away with murder". If you want to scold someone with a pointless rant, you should start with complaining about Juror B29.

I agree with Juror B29. How's that for meeting your requirements for what you think I can say or not say.

Thank you for your service to our country. Please remember that many others have done so as well. And not all of those agree with you on everything you think/say.

    5. Leland7:40 AM

      @ 5:07.

Then Juror B29 should have refused to vote for acquittal. Period. That might have forced a hung jury and a new trial, one in which the prosecution actually was able to get the right message across. It does NOT - legally - change the verdict nor the LEGAL FACT that he is NOT GUILTY OF MURDER!

Oh. And explaining a point of law is NOT a POINTLESS RANT!

Further I defy you in any way shape or form to show me WHERE in my writing I was trying to tell you what you can and cannot say. I was merely contradicting your statement. That in no way is saying you can NOT say it.

Nothing is changed. He legally is not guilty of murder. That does not change the fact that he DID kill. It's just not murder. And any decent lawyer will tell you that.

And as for your last line, As I said in my original statement, I volunteered so that you COULD disagree with me!

"But in THIS country, being found NOT GUILTY is the end of it as far as the law is concerned. That being the case, he has as much right as anyone who has never had a legal problem to own a firearm."

Of course, Zimmerman should own and use firearms because there is no legal impediment. And Adam Lanza was legally entitled to use firearms at the Newtown school. LOTS of people in this country qualify to own and use firearms.

The only legal recourse I have is to own and use firearms. That's what the Constitution says. That bit about "well regulated militia" that's just garbage that happened to get in the Constitution, but nobody needs to pay any attention to that part.

      @8:49.

Never ONCE did I say ANYTHING about the MORAL issue of whether or not Zimmerman SHOULD own a firearm!

I said he has every LEGAL RIGHT as an answering statement to the comment that started this string of discussion at the very top: @2:36. And he DOES.

And this did not start as a discussion about the rights and wrongs of the 2nd Amendment or ownership of firearms. That issue is not germane to this CURRENT situation. This is about legitimate, EXISTING law. Don't try that sidetracking technique on me, it won't work.

Obviously you don't like firearms. Well, I happen to agree with you that there are a lot of people who shouldn't own them and I agree we need stronger more effective laws concerning them. But those laws don't exist yet!

Under CURRENT LAW, that idiot has every right to own a handgun because he is NOT GUILTY OF A CRIME - YET. As I said earlier, people can cuss about it all they want. The LAW says otherwise.

And that does not necessarily reflect MY feelings about him owning one, either.

I have repeatedly made statements based on the law. And I will add that as long as the IS the law, it must be obeyed. If you don't LIKE the law, CHANGE IT. Yelling and screaming and cussing about someone owning a gun does absolutely no good except MAYBE as a pressure relief valve like yelling at the driver who cut you off!

THAT was my point - and will remain the point.

One replier said I was scolding someone with a pointless rant. Well, if explaining the LAW is a pointless rant, I would like to know where they grew up. This country USED to try to stay on the high ground. From the point of view of the law, that is where I stand.

I repeat, this is not a discussion of the MORALISTIC issues.

I think this will be George's MO from now on - until he gets in trouble again. Sorta OJ Lite. He is still delusional and believes he is an avenger, so he wanders around a gun-friendly state looking for an incident to get involved in. He especially wants to keep his name in the news. Probably sped up when he saw a patrol car so that he would get his "police fix" and get some attention.

All day long I have had this nagging observation. Zimmerman's defense team behaved as if they were going to the prom, like this was their big payday and took every opportunity to appear on TV. They relished their job, the publicity and their success in defending a child murderer.

In contrast consider the defense team for Ariel Castro. I have never seen such abject misery on the faces of defense attorneys. They were suffering for the victims and embarrassed by the job they had and that someone needed to do. And, I believe they too succeeded. The plea deal was in the best interest of all parties, including the public. I just needed to voice this observation. For what it's worth.

    1. Look for Ol' Corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpazio to deputize this piece of shit. With a badge, a gun, one kill behind him, and a county willing to re-elect a crook and a TeaTard to administer justice, Little Georgie and the non-brown folks in Maricopa County will be a perfect match for one another.

The *people* will be protected from the scary browns by a half-self-hating half-brown (he loathes his brown skin); and Littl Georgie gets to play action hero Rambo the Beaner and put terror into the non-white peeps that dare to make eye contact with him.

Deputy Georgie; "Hey Taco Tito, you scratch my car I'm gonna light your ass up, beaner weiner. Don't you know who I am? I'm a fucking hero whenever I kill you thugs. Come on punk, say something that you think might scare me. If you succeed and scare me, I just might stand my ground and shoot you. If you try to scare me and it doesn't work, I might get pissed at you, and shoot you anyway, and then tell my boss you scared me and were going for my gun. Boom! Later punk, Goergie's a hero, again!! "

Bottom-line: Georgie heading to AZ to be on a special task force of gun goons who act as a kill-squad for America's most crooked sheriff, Joe "Pink Panties" Arpazio.

Remember, you heard it here first if it turns out to be true. If not, I have no idea who told you that crazy shit.

    What is Z up to?

I find it very strange that he would be taking a very long road trip by himself. Speeding and going nowhere in particular, with his trusty side arm by his side.

His picture has turned up on all media so of course many people will recognize him. Why did he ask if the officer recognized him?

IMO, Z was looking for a fight when he went after Trayvon. Is he repeating this obsession again?
