Very controversial Trayvon martin ad from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has released a chilling new online ad reenacting the night Travyon Martin was killed, in an effort to stop the controversial Stand Your Ground laws nationwide.

The nonprofit group uses actual audio from the 911 calls that shooter George Zimmerman and a witness made that night in Sanford, Fla. After the sound of a gunshot, people in hoodies are seen lying on the ground, and the names are displayed of the more than 20 states that have Stand Your Ground laws in place.

The group has also launched a website and a petition asking people to urge their state lawmakers to "oppose this immoral legislation.”

"'Stand Your Ground' laws have essentially legalized murder. With this PSA, we hope to add to the nationwide push to repeal these immoral laws," said CSGV Communications Director Ladd Everitt.

Wow! Well you can't say that this ad does not pack a punch.

What do you think?

Wow. Incredible. Reminds me of photos from the 40's and 50's of black men hanging from trees, or the photos from the concentration stamps. Why are we so hateful to each other? I see nothing wrong with this ad, but the NRA will have a BIG tantrum in about a minute.

This is a great ad and goes directly to the point, that young man was murdered. Listening to him cry for help breaks your heart thinking that is how his life ended, so scared. If you notice, the NRA has been completely silent since all this happened. I saw "The Butler" on Friday and urge everyone to see it, it is horrifying to think this all happened within our lifetimes, mine anyway. Electing Obama had to happen, this country needs to rid itself of all this hate.

Look up your history. The Butler took many artistic liberties with his history, and true feelings.

  5. Did you hear the song (free download) by Wyclef "Justice if you are 17". Check it out. The lyrics are dead on wait for the ending.

(they have made a video now)

  6. Here in Georgia, we just missed a Newtown event with one of our schools. Was he stopped by someone with a gun? No, he was stopped by a smart, brave clerk who managed to talk him down.

What an amazing show of heroics by the school clerk! They showed video and played the entire call on CNN Anderson Cooper. She made a real connection on a human level with a mentally unstable armed man who felt there were no other options.

There's some tough lessons to be learned with her example. No one was hurt, injured nor murdered.

The ad is great. Very powerful. I am furious, however, that Alaska passed a stand your ground bill this past session, and very few Alaskans spoke out against it. I will never forget all the little ladies in the House wearing their camo scarves in solidarity, including our newly elected Dem, Garen Tarr.

This commercial grabbed me by the heart, I'm sure it'll get the ire of the NRA, but it clearly portrays the truth of what happened that night and in all those states.
