My personal experience on DC’s Obamacare exchange, or, how Tom Coburn is a big fat liar
...It was truly idiotic for the Republican party to shut down the government over Obamacare on the day that the Obamacare exchanges go live. With the click of a mouse, every single American can go online and check to see if they can get a better plan under the exchanges, check to see if the Republicans are telling the truth or whether, like Tom Coburn, they’re just liars. If you’re going to tell a lie about something, don’t do it about something that’s so easily verifiable. Until today, no one could really confirm that things would be better under Obamacare. Now we know for a fact that for many Americans, it is.
I still want to know if there are any procedures to actually remove Boehner. It seems he is the real problem not allowing a vote. Its just like gun control when pretty much the entire country wanted something and he refused to allow a vote...I don't understand how he can be that powerful.
I've been observing that when the clods who voted to shut the government down, are interviewed on CNN or the normal networks, they are bragging about how they struck a blow against their country.
But the same jerkoff responds to a FOX "reporter" thusly:
"So, isn't it awful how Obama shut down the government?"
(long silence)
"Oh......yeah.....right....yep, that Obama has screwed the American people yet again!"
Does ("I'm willing to shut down the government in order to stop 15 million people from getting health care") Ted Cruz's wife work for Goldman Sachs?
Is she a regional head of a Goldman Sachs division?
And as such does she have a 'platinum' health-care plan that's worth in the neighborhood of $40,000/year? (Imagine that - a health-care plan that costs $40 thousand dollars a year!)
And, if so, is her husband, Ted Cruz, covered by this top-of-the-line health-care plan?
Is that why Ted Cruz won't tell us where he gets his health care?
(yes)
Do you think Ted Cruz can really understand what its like to not be able to get health-care insurance?
Do you think any of these millionaires that just shut down the government can understand that?
There were so many Americans clamoring to get health-care insurance today THEY CRASHED THE SERVERS!
Ted Cruz and the other GOP politicians do not care if Americans get sick and die. They truly do not care. As long as they and their immediate family members are okay, so what - is their attitude. Pretty gruesome, isn't it. Our representative is a medical doctor who did all sorts of campaign ads about how much he cared about his patients and he is totally opposed to the ACA. Won't give any rational reasons for it, but he's opposed. Now he SAYS he doesn't want to shut down the government but he still votes to do it because he, like Cruz and the rest of them, simply does not want all Americans to have access to decent health care. There must be something in the water they drink. Beaglemom
Democrats quickly shot down the latest Republican attempt to weasel out of their government shutdown by stopping the bills that would have partially funded veterans, national parks, and DC.
In an act of desperation, House Republicans jumped on an idea by Sen. Ted Cruz to make the Democrats look bad by passing bills that would fund veterans’ programs, national parks, and the District of Columbia. What Cruz floated wasn’t a strategic path victory, it was a was a way out. Sen. Cruz pushed his knuckle headed strategy in the media, “We should fund national parks and keep them open right now, today,” Cruz told reporters Tuesday. “And we saw yesterday, that can happen quickly. It doesn’t take weeks or even days, within hours, if Congress wants to, we can fund every single one of the priorities the president laid out yesterday, we can fund clean CRs if Harry Reid and the Democrats don’t object. That is what I hope we will do.”
House Republicans tried to corner Democrats into going on the record against funding for popular programs by suspending the rules and requiring a two thirds vote for passage. House Democrats quickly saw that the votes were attempt by Republicans to get out of the corner that they had painted themselves into, and refused to play along. The veterans affairs funding bill failed 264-164. The national parks bill failed 252-176. The bill to fund the District of Columbia failed 265-163.
Only Rafael Cruz and his flock of wacko birds consider an epic fail a win. Rafael and the wacko birds celebrated the government shutdown as if they actually accomplished something. True, they got the government shutdown, which will hurt babies and their mothers who relied on the supplemental nourishment program. True, children will be hurt because the Head Start schools they go to are shut down. While the troops will be paid, 800,000 civilian government employees face furloughs for an undetermined period. Over 3 million Veterans will not get benefits. The safety of your food will be compromised because food inspectors will scale back their work. Small business growth will slow down. Disability benefits will be interrupted. Rafael and the wacko birds compromised national security and put our diplomats at risk. It means the center for disease control will shut down, as will the Statue of Liberty. Contrary to wacko bird rhetoric, shutting down the government is an expensive proposition with human and financial costs. Yeehah! So much to celebrate!
Rafael and the wacko birds don’t care that 72% of Americans oppose the shutdown because that would entail thinking about someone other than themselves. Besides, the wacko birds dumped John Boehner and appointed Rafael as the real leader of their band. They also revealed the so-called Republican moderates as wimps unable to stand up to Rafael and the wacko birds. However, Rafael and the wacko birds can claim a secondary achievement. Republican moderates are starting to find their spines. One should note that, in this case, moderate is a relative term. We’re still taking about people who think that healthcare insurance should cease to be accessible the moment someone actually needs to use it. They just don’t equate the healthcare law with Nazism, slavery and communism.
For all the suffering and the political consequences that come with a shutdown, it remains an epic fail because Rafael and the wacko birds didn’t achieve the one thing they wanted more than they wanted anything else. The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare remains law. People visited the site to learn more about the exchanges that will give them access to the healthcare system that Rafael and the wacko birds enjoy on the taxpayers’ dime. They could sign up, be it under the original named law or the same law under a revised name within their state.
Obamacare didn’t come tumbling down. Moreover, Rafael Cruz knew it during his audition for Teabilly Presidential candidate in 2016. In reality, that audition was the only “principle” that Rafael stood for.
Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. On the first day
This is what always happens. When the only adults in the room are the Democrats in Congress, all we hear from on the news programs are the Republicans and then the announcers talk about how "Congress won't do this or that." It's the Republicans, not Congress, not the President! And why wouldn't corporate America which runs the news industry want all Americans to have access to decent health care? None of it makes any sense. Beaglemom
I am so, so proud of President Obama - he will go down in history as one of our best POTUS - for many reasons. Mainly, for standing strong against the obstructionist Republicans in the matter of health insurance for ALL!
Sarah's pal Dr. Gina Loudon has gone from making a fool of herself on Wife Swap to making an epic fool of herself on The Daily Show. Jason Jones interviewed her to 'explain' the GOP opposition to the ACA. I can't figure out whether she's frightfully stupid or just plain evil.
Take a look at Hunter's rant on Daily Kos. It is a thing of beauty and sadness, and sums up my feelings perfectly. Here's a snippet:
"This is no longer a political party. It is a coup d'etat in cheap suits. It is a movement of arsonists, of ideological addicts leaping from issue to issue and crisis to crisis in their search for the next momentary high. In its tea party origins, it is a specifically and obsessively anti-Obama movement formed as direct response to the first black American president, a movement animated by racial notions of the president's supposed non-citizenry, secret apparent Muslim-ness, obvious otherness, stoked and coddled and celebrated until there is nothing left but the underlying id remaining. It is a movement that can treat a truth and a lie as equivalent. It is a movement that punishes offensive truths by remanufacturing them into something else.
It is no longer a political party. It is a bald celebration of malevolence. It is a movement that insists on doing harm because only in doing harm can its proponents prove their unwavering loyalty to the now long-forgotten cause."
And it was all planned out on Inauguration Day 2009 when the top GOP leaders met to destroy President Obama. Pure sedition and we're now well into year four of it. When I write to my GOP Congressman, I mention his seditious acts now. Beaglemom

Namaste.
What is so interesting is that all the pundits on TV, every channel thereabouts are all repubs, picking on Obama. Have not seen or heard Democrats.
