The irony is, this is, more or less, what it means to be a liberal. Yes, it's more than reasonable, it's the American Dream many of our ancestors lived, fought and died to make happen for everyone.

BTW, thanks for the heads up on "Gravity", we caught it today in IMAX. Some movies MUST be experienced the old fashioned way, and this is one of them. No way can a home theater do it justice.

Actually, Gryphen, I disagree with this. I believe in the regulation of some business practices. I strongly believe in environmental protections. It is why there are regulations that protect against nuclear power plants being built on earthquake faults and businesses who run them being held accountable in the face of such catastrophe. Consider Fukishima and TEPCO.

    1. It doesn't say "I don't want businesses regulated" it says "I want them out of the regulatory and political processes." That means, as I understand it, businesses shouldn't be regulating themselves or buying elections, as now occurs thanks to disproportionate economic influence and Citizens United.

And here is a great article to share, or at least study up on President Obama's accomplishments and why we need a Democratic congress in 2014.

It doesn't take being a good detective, to sniff out how the Koch brothers are paying out a LOT of money to fight healthcare reform.

But I haven't heard anyone's theory of WHY...can we find out if they own huge share totals in companies such as Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross, and the other insurers who used to be able to overcharge to the tune of 50 to 60%, while denying most claims, often for the most obscene reasons ("I see here you had a head cold when you were in kindergarten...obviously we cannot pay for treatment of your pneumonia, now that you are only fifty-five years older.")

Those insurers have also been dumping massive bucks into propaganda that has the easily befuddled public believing that Obamacare means a Democrat must attend your doctor visit, and approve any claims; that a chip will be imbedded in your arm--and other scare tactics that a thinking individual would suspect is utter bullshit.

So its obvious why THEY would do all they can to discredit a law that forces them into being ethical, as it will shrink their profit margin.

But there just HAS to be some big reason why otherwise penny pinching slobs like the Kochs are willing to part with serious coin.

60 Minutes did a piece on disability fraud, a means to help people survive who have termed out their unemployment benefits. (And who cut unemployment benefits?)

For all those who get riled up at the thought of welfare freeloaders being all minority or immigranty, has lots of children, otherwise healthy but using SNAP to buy pop and candy and whatnot. . .most of the American's committing fraud for disability are healthy, white, middle-class people. West Virginians will be coasting on an average $300,000 in their lifetime on their fraudulently obtained benefits.

But they'll vote Teapublican, even though they'll be the first people on the chopping block with these austere slash-and-burn lawmakers.

  8. I'll echo the question above about the source of that wonderful "Thought of the Day". I'd like to send it out, but I want to give full credit to the source. Did you write it?

Whoever wrote it hit the nail on the head. It's gone viral.
I've seen it around on facebook, reddit and tumbler without sources. The closest to this graphic was this one on facebook.
