The House is about to pass a deal to reopen the government! America wins, and the Tea Party will limp off the field in defeat.

Ted Cruz just tried to save face by claiming on camera that he had achieved a moral victory, but clearly since moments ago he announced he will do nothing to block the vote, he just got his ass handed to him.

I have to wonder if he is now the lame duck that Sarah Palin believed herself to be when she resigned, and if he will follow suit? Though of course I doubt it.

To be clear, after ALL of this bullshit, once this passes the Republicans will have received NOTHING for their obstructionism. The same CR that the Senate originally wanted the House to pass is the one that will soon pass the House. So EVERYTHING, including police working without pay, monuments being closed to the public, and our reputation being dragged through the mud in front of the entire world, will all be for NOTHING!

But don't think that the Teabaggers will ultimately learn their lesson. They won't.

This from Mediaite:

Heritage Action President Michael Needham told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer on Wednesday morning that any large scale repeal of Obamacare would have to wait until the GOP had recaptured the Senate and the White House three and a half years from now—despite the weeks House Republicans just spent adamantly opposing the law’s implementation.

“‘Even many on the left, including powerful unions, who were once the law’s stronger supporters, have conceded that it’s a train wreck,’” Hemmer quoted from Heritage Action’s letter to GOP lawmakers, which was considered instrumental in torpedoing the House’s tenuous agreement late Tuesday night. “I know you believe that, but with a Democrat in the White House and Harry Reid with the majority in the Senate, what can you do?”

“Everybody understands that we’re not going to be able to repeal this law until 2017,” Needham said. “We have to win the Senate and win the White House.”

So the plan is to retake the Senate, and win the White House, and THEN they will take away health care coverage for millions of Americans.

So after this debacle, how good are their chances of doing that?

Well I'll tell you what. I will do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure that their chances of accomplishing those two things is somewhere between nil and none. And somehow I don't think I am alone in that determination.

That photo of Ted Cruz shows exactly what is was all about for him, a male version of Sarah shrieking ME ME ME. He doesn't care about legislating, he's running for President. Not enough popcorn in the world for that upcoming circus.

Also too, by today's end we should have Sen. elect Cory Booker, yay!

I was watching CSPAN live and I swear it made me sick....had to turn it off. Reid comes on and says all this great stuff about McConnell being wonderful on getting this deal done. McConnell takes the mic and jeeeeezzz he just destroys Obamacare and goes on and on about how bad it all is and how they will not stop at trying to destroy it. Then....all these GOP senators come on patting themselves on the back for working together on this new deal. My head is exploding....these are the assholes that were silent while Cruz and Boehner let all this happen. This is like the worst damn reality show in history...lying sacks of shit one and all.
Now all these rotten GOP assholes are getting interviewed acting like they are wonderful for finally getting this deal thru
and they are the heroes. I mean, really.....do they really think we are that stupid?? Its like a fireman setting his house on fire and congratulating himself for putting it out...unfriggin real!!!

But he is done in Texas. Thanks Sarah for cursing him, we Texas democrats needed some extra help to get rid of him.

BTW ACA was the GOP plan instead of the democratic plan of single payer. And while I would really have single payer for every American I have run across a nice "side effect" of ACA.
I just negotiated my companies group rate DOWN by about 22% because of ACA and the lower private costs for individuals buying healthcare.

In what is roundly being taken as a significant breach of protocol, and downright rude, GOP Tea Party Senator, and father of the Republican government shutdown and imminent debt default, Ted Cruz, decided to hold a press conference at the same time that Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell was announcing, and commenting on, the deals of the just-announced budget deal.

The split screen was on CNN from the first second McConnell started speaking, and at the 8th second CNN dropped McConnell entirely and switched their cameras to Cruz.

    Quite the metaphor:

Maybe there's something wrong with the way I'm processing the info but the Democrats caved on their insistence for a CLEAN CR and CLEAN debt ceiling hike.

They've already compromised on the CR amount and the short period of time to cover the debt ceiling and renegotiate the budget CR. Now, they've attached a provision to change the ACA income verification process. I know. This is minor. But it's still a change to the ACA outside the normal legislative process and will only embolden the GOP crazies to demand additional changes.

I should be happy but I'm pissed. Cruz has probably already started organizing his plans to create a future crisis.

The democrats didn't cave on anything. The data Hub in Obamacare already does income verification:

      http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/11/us-usa-healthcare-security-idUSBRE98A0XT20130911

The democrats designed this fake concession in way that it wouldn't slow down enrollment in Obamacare, or slowdown the Obamacare subsidies. Even Ezra Klein who hates Obamacare admits the republicans got NOTHING.

Greg Sargent at the Washington Post, reported yesterday that part of the reason the democrats agreed to a short-term CR/DL, is so that the democrats can dare the republicans to keep shutting down the government, and threatening a default, every few months, so that republicans would be further weakened leading up to the 2014 midterm elections.

But, the whining from the 'Debbie Downers' will continue, anyway!

    Southern Democrats Raising Big Bucks

Despite a tough political environment, the party's most vulnerable candidates are bringing in millions.

“In nearly every competitive Senate contest, southern Democrats outraised their Republican counterparts this quarter,” reported National Journal. These numbers are for the quarter, which ran from July 1- September 30, they reflect money raised before the Republican government shutdown and GOP threat to default.

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/hotline-on-call/southern-democrats-raising-big-bucks-20131015

The GOP has been relying on the Southern strategy for so long that for the last few election cycles, they had to face the inevitable results of that strategy — a shrinking tent, a reputation for bigotry, and an alliance with noxious brands like the KKK, the Birchers/Birthers/Tea Partiers, and the Confederate flag.

If they lose the South, it’s over.

More than two years ago, President Obama was still in the thick of his previous showdown with Republican House leaders over the nation’s debt limit when he called five senior advisers into his office. He did not ask their advice, one said. Rather, he told them, in a way that brooked no discussion: From now on, no more negotiating over legislation so basic and essential to the economy, and the country.

“I’m not going through this again. It’s bad for democracy. It’s bad for the presidency,” Mr. Obama said, according to the adviser, who declined to be identified describing internal discussions. The president then told the group — his Treasury secretary, chief Congressional lobbyist, chief economic adviser and both his and the vice president’s chiefs of staff — to spread that word, “even in your body language.”

Since then, so has Mr. Obama. To make his message on the debt ceiling stick, he had to deliver it, repeatedly, not only to Republicans convinced that he would “cave,” as many often have said, but also to business groups, the broader public and even to Democrats in Congress. Failure could shake not only the economy, but also Mr. Obama’s presidency, given his reputation, fair or not, for drawing red lines and then watching foes cross them.

Yeah!!! I might even move back to Texas if Wendy Davis is governor. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Texas Democrat - now 69 years old. I thought they were an endangered species in the South, but maybe not!

After their public humiliation, what will Jersey Shore Sarah Palin and Canadian Club Ted Cruz do to try to save face--- have his & hers plastic surgery together before disappearing from the public for 6-8 weeks? Maybe they can do their recovery at Ted Nugent's crib. They all have so much in common--- shallowness, self-delusion, lying fools, all.

This flip flop by Heritage is laughable.
Until today , the reality that Democrats controlled the Senate and presidency were irrelevant to Heritage and Cruz.
In fact , Heritage and Cruz ridiculed the political reality of the Senate.
It looks like Heritage has been taken to the woodshed
    by big donors .
Even big donors who probably supported this fiasco.
" Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan " kind of thing.
David Koch started to dance away this week.
If Heritage has any hope of restoring their tattered and stained image -DeMint should be fired.
He orchestrated this monumental catastrophe along with Cruz and like Freedom Works did in the past , no doubt paid Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin, among other talkers,
big bucks to promote this idiocy.
The Tea Party is the biggest loser in this mess , although predictably , the nuts will claim victory.
The Republican Party should have jettisoned the whacko birds years ago and they will pay at the polls
    for their craven cowardice.
It's time for Sarah to woman up and take Raphael and the rabble to the promised land of the Freedumb Party.

Toxic Ted will be getting his coffee to go from now on in all coffee houses owned by Republicans. Will persona non grata Greta V get the exclusive interview with this loser since no one else wants to be around him? Time to start the spin, Fox

  38. Thank you! That was . . . satisfying.

I'll be replaying that booming, "You're an idiot!" In my head whenever I see a photo of Palin.

Anyone who would deny health care coverage to people, who would cut food stamps, who would shut the federal government down has no idea what the word "moral" means. This goes for Ted Cruz and every one of his Republican colleagues.

"... the Tea Party will limp off the field..."

I think "limp" is the operative word- actually the word of the day.

On CNN a phone call was played between Boehner and a radio show. I think I heard Boehner say Obama was trying to raise taxes too! The history rewrite of the shutdown and cliff hanger over the dent ceiling may have begun.

  42. Good luck with that. Aside from the obvious (that they aren't going to keep the House, take back the Senate or win the Whitehouse) do they really thing that after three years of the ACA people are going to enthusiastically line up to have it taken away?

Did people line up to rescind Social Security three years after it was enacted? How about Medicare? How many of those 'baggers will willingly give up their Medicare? Aren't they the ones at all those rallies shouting "Don't touch my Medicare!"?

This guy has his head stuffed so far up the anal of denial he might just as well say "When Ted Crus is inaugrated in Jan. of 2017" because that has just as much chance of happening as the rest of this pink tinted pipe dream. Or should I say bong dream?

Haven't read the comments, this just in.... Cory Booker declared winner with 51 percent of votes in. Rachel's show described the assclownery of the TeaOP's utter defeat.

Thank You, President Obama, for being the only adult in the room, holding your ground and letting the fire burn itself out. The GOP, in it's delusion, thinks this is a "win" for them, saner ones are blaming Cruz..

You think America won in this mess? We just got played by both sides. The economy took a $20 billion hit. We're all losers.
