Recently departed Labor foreign minister Bob Carr, a close student of American politics, has declared himself "delighted" with Rupert Murdoch's Fox News channel.
Not, however, for the normal reasons that a person might support the predominantly right-leaning US cable channel, owned by Rupert Murdoch.
"I am delighted because it is a textbook experiment in how to make the Republican Party unelectable," Mr Carr told the Public Knowledge forum on Monday, an event hosted by Sydney University's US Studies Centre.
"If you are running as a candidate for the Republicans, you must do Fox News and you must pander to the table thumpers. By the time the general election comes around the candidate is too right wing to get elected. I think it is delightful," he said.
I can't say I agree with all of Carr's political viewpoints, but on THIS we are in 100% agreement.
And considering that Rupert Murdoch got his start in Australia this guy would certainly know what he is talking about.
Even MORE cheating by Rand Paul:
ReplyDeleteRand Paul caught once again
After Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was caught presenting others’ work as his own by The Rachel Maddow Show, BuzzFeed, and Politico, the senator’s office seemed to realize Paul had a problem on his hands. It reached the point late Friday that the senator’s aides started making it more difficult to access Paul’s speeches, perhaps fearful more evidence would come to light.
Unfortunately for the senator, it’s too late to hide op-eds Paul has already written and published. Andrew Kaczynski reported last night:

Sections Of Rand Paul’s Op-Ed On Drug Sentencing Plagiarized From Article Week Earlier
Portions of the Kentucky senator’s op-ed in The Washington Times appear to be copied word-for-word from an article published a week earlier.

Yes, Paul is one crooked SOB hiding under that faek hair and fake outrage. I'm waiting for the "I apologize if I misled anyone" nonapology (plagiarized from the Rove GOP Handbook, pg. 37.)
ReplyDeleteLooks how he is weaseling out of this exposure as a lying SOB. You can hear the WHINING that is his trademark response. Always excuses, backsliding, attacking the source, and slippery explanations.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), facing multiple allegations of plagiarism, told the New York Times in an interview Tuesday that his demanding schedule is partially to blame for him signing off on poorly vetted or sourced speeches and op-eds.
“We need to get stuff earlier, but it’s hard,” Paul told the Times. “We probably take on more than we should be doing.”
“Things are done quickly and in a hurry, and sometimes I get some things sent to me while giving a speech — I’m looking down at my phone saying ‘read this for approval in 20 minutes,'” he added. “We write something every week for The Washington Times, and I literally am riding around in a car in between things trying to figure out if I can approve it.”
Senior advisor Doug Stafford released a statement earlier Tuesday that ensured Paul's office would put in place a system in which footnotes would be made available upon request. The office restructuring was prompted by a report indicating Paul lifted a Washington Times op-ed nearly verbatim from an article published in The Week. The senator previously accused of using material from Wikipedia, among other sources, without attribution.
"What we are going to do from here forward, if it will make people leave me the hell alone, is we’re going to do them like college papers,” Paul told the Times. “We’re going to try to put out footnotes."
The Kentucky Republican's contrition is a reversal from his response to the allegations over the weekend, when he told ABC News he was "being unfairly targeted by a bunch of hacks and haters."

This is such utter bullshit. The people who were taking those articles verbatim and tweaking them a little thinking they were getting away with it, KNEW they were plagiarizing. They just figured that they wouldn't get caught. Footnotes my ass,he's just trying to slide around the accusation with alot of literary languaging, but the bottom line is he STOLE someone elses words and he's a fucking cheater.
Rachels show tonight did a fine job of eviscerating Randy's problem with, ahem, multi tasking and truth.
DeleteDare we hope that Mr Carr's assessment that "... it is a textbook experiment in how to make the Republican Party unelectable," could really happen?
ReplyDeleteSomething Really Insane Just Happened In Congress, And You Probably Haven't Heard A Word About It
ReplyDeleteThe bill referenced in this video is called H.R. 992 — the Swaps Regulatory Improvement Act. You can find out how your representative voted on 992 here. You can find New York Times reports on how Citigroup literally wrote its own bill here and here. You can see how Wall Street dumps money into your member of Congress' campaign coffers here and gape openly at the incredible amounts of money Wall Street spends on lobbying every year here. You can read more about House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling's ski vacation with Wall Street (yes, that's a thing that actually happened) here.
