When former Alaska governor Sarah Palin visited The Villages in 2008, more than 30,000 people turned out.
Emotions ran high for good reason—The Villages was Palin’s first public appearance since her nomination as the Republican Party’s Vice Presidential candidate.
The crowd at her book-signing engagement earlier today at Barnes & Noble was more modest—about 500.
A Barnes & Noble manager who asked not to be named wouldn’t estimate the crowd size—that’s against corporate policy—but admitted the store did not hand out all 750 arm bands on hand for the event.
That didn’t bother Villagers stood in line for upwards of two hours to shake the hand of the conservative icon and get her signature on a fresh copy of Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.
The $13.92 price tag was modest as well.
Ouch that had to hurt!
Yep nothing like a book tour by a dried up old has been to remind people of just what a train wreck their life has become.
Perhaps Palin is beginning to feel that sense of desperation creeping up on her as her book continues to tumble down the Amazon rankings. (Now at 252, which is 20 slots below where it was this morning when I wrote my earlier post.)
And that might explain what this is all about as well.

Is she allowed to do this? Seriously? What has SARAHPAC ever done for anyone but the Palins? Why is it based in Texas? Who did they bribe at teh Palomar Hotel? She must have had an empty date in her tour, huh? Or maybe as sales fall, the tour is going to end early? I'm betting there is no resumption of this phony tour after Thanksgiving, and Palin will gush she needed to spend time with her loving family who hasn;t seen her in months. Hey Sarah, who went to Piper's Parent/Teacher conferences? Who signed her report card? Who reads to Trigg at night? Do you even care?

At $13.92 per book it's going to be very hard to cover all her travel, staff, hotel and other expenses I would think. But hey that's what her goobers donate for. To keep her face in the lamestream media they claim to hate.
ReplyDeleteThe costs are no doubt covered by the publisher. If Sarah received an advance - she will get no more for the book - if she didn't - at that price her cut is probably $1 a book. The tour would be part of the contract (the publisher wants their money back), the fund raising is all for Sarah - the PAC buys the book which increases the number sold & lets folks pay $$$ for the book - the publisher getting c. $13, Sarah getting the rest.

I personally don't wear a wedding band because of my job and my husband who wore his for years has taken his off because he works in construction and he said it got caught up and he nearly lost a finger not too long ago. Fine with me, I'd rather he had all of his fingers (for work and as a rockin' guitar player)!! As sentimental as it is, we don't need a ring to rationalize our commitment. OT - The City of Wasilla is trying to sell the "Mayor Mobile" on e-bay. The Blue Book value is $2,318, but the starting price on e-bay is $10,000. They're hoping someone will pay at least that much for something Sarah drove. So far, no bids.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times. It's close to Highland Park, one of the wealthiest and most conservative parts of Dallas. She had to come to a place like this because it's where the money is. So I guess she's tapped out her regular folks and is going directly for the big fish now. I think she'll get a modest turnout. Old conservative money here is all about Ted Cruz at this point, and they know she's not running for office. She will probably do more of these because she simply does not have enough small money donors to support her anymore.

Plus it looks like they added artificial fullness to the hair in this pic. She must really need the money if this is the best photoshop job she could pay for.
On a positive note, the girls look cute. I wonder if Sarah knows what Rush was up to in the Dominican Republic when he was caught with viagra in his baggage. I wonder if she would care since they weren't young conservative girls.
