Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Very valid point.
And it is a special right that should be removed post haste.
And for massive oil corps who rake in billions and get refunds from the government. Or TransCanada, which is allowed to foul our air and water with their tar sands sludge, while not paying a dime into the catastrophic fund for cleanups...thanks, Dick Cheney, for that one. Or lying cheats like the Palins, who get away with murder, graft, and cheating, while raking in millions pretending to be the victims of 'the media.' Those are 'special rights.' Letting people marry who they love? Life, people. just life.
I hope to see the day when churches are taxed. However, I expect they will cry "government persecution" and tell their members that de debbil is behind it.
Prevo, in Anchorage, takes things way too far in that he talks politics in his church and leads his congregation the Republican way! He actually has gotten them out in mass in red t-shirts, carrying their bibles and all programmed to say the same thing!
His church, school, minister's homes, etc. SHOULD be taxed. His congregation members as well as the citizens of Anchorage (not members of the church) are carrying their load/taxes and it's time it stopped!
Imagine the outrage if Atheism were organized and treated as a "religion" and got those pesky special rights? I would love to see all churches taxed. I'd rather my tax dollars not support "Special Rights" in any way, but I doubt I'll live to see it.
The "What's in it for us" folks, once they get "gubmint freebies", they feel "entitled" to it and they think it's their "right". (In my "Teabagjelical" voice).
I saw someone who brought this up in a Facebook posting, get challenged by some fool unable to think for himself, so he commented only the same type of word garbage usually spouted by Ms. Palin.
It wasn't my fight, but I couldn't help but set the jerk straight, by stating that the day a church is built on a private lot, not serviced by taxpayer funded roads, or sewer, or water, or electrical service, or police protection, or firefighting service, or any of the other perks which buildings that DO chip in to pay for all of that...then we can justify giving a taxfree status to it.
Hey Gryph,
ReplyDeleteOT but you have to check out Todd Starnes latest rant. Someone at Costco labeled the bible 'fiction' and he's having a hissy fit.

ReplyDeleteIt better be, we can't keep supporting Prevo in Anchorage much longer.
