Texas Republicans choose Ted Cruz as the Republican candidate they would most like to see crushed by Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Courtesy of the Texas Tribune:

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz remains the star of the Texas Republican Party, leading the pack in the GOP’s 2016 presidential sweepstakes in Texas and maintaining high rankings from conservative voters even after the federal government shutdown, according to the new University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

Cruz’s unfavorable rankings increased by 6 percentage points since June, and his favorable rankings fell by 2; 38 percent of Texas registered voters had a favorable opinion of him, while 37 percent gave him unfavorable marks.

But the real story is in the underlying numbers: Democrats don’t seem to like Cruz, Republicans like him a lot and those who identify themselves as Tea Party voters love him.

“He is far and away the center of gravity among Republican Party officials in Texas right now,” said Jim Henson, co-director of the UT/TT Poll and head of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin. “He is very secure in the Republican Party right now, in terms of both favorability and name recognition. He is where it’s at.”

"He is where it's at."

If "where it's at" happens to be on a journey toward a humiliating defeat at the hands America's first female President, than he just might be.

At this point I don't really care who on that list the Republicans nominate because I give none of them a chance in hell. However if the Republicans actually put Ted Cruz up against Hillary Clinton this may turn out to be the most entertaining presidential election in Americans history.

Could a political blogger really get so lucky?

What happened to Sarah Palin? Doesn't she pay her consultants enough money to jam one of those polls? Come on, it's as easy as voting for Bristol to win DWTS.

She's a fake politician who's playing the role of a fake author at the moment.

It's called pretend multi-tasking. Instead of keeping several balls in the air at one time, she doesn't juggle any at all and just pretends she has a set of balls. And the low-info, non-educated Fundies and Baggers are all gaga and encourage her to keep lifting her skirt and showing her bony, scrawny ass. That's something she doesn't have to pretend to be--- a grifting attention whore who's always panhandling for spare change.

Where's Trig and who gave birth to the poor kid?
Why did Sarah lie about having shown the media his birth certificate?

Whoever wins the nomination will not be able to get a decent running mate on the ticket. It will be a career killer for both losers, so they might as sell pick Sarah Palin again for the lulz and the ratings. Free stand-up comedy 24/7 on cable for 100 days. That's better than the free 1000 hours of AOL that most of us used as training wheels on our Interwebz. Maybe they'd let Sarah debate Hillary. Not really. But you gotta admit that it's a pretty fucking funny visual of Sarah tossing her salad everywhere.

I hope someday someone obtains DNA in a well documented 'heist'... an Applebee's cup here or there. It will be denied, but more of the truth of this horrible person and the folks behind her will be revealed for others to follow up on. It's just a matter of time.

5:55 - All Palin has to do to eviscerate the Trig truthers and make them look like idiotic conspiracy kooks is to submit DNA in a controlled environment. But she won't.

Looks like half of the Repugs will stay home and pout if a TeaBagger isn't nominated. And if a Bagger is nominated, it will be 1964 for the GOP's last candidate before the not-as-big-of-idiots migrate to the Democratic Party.

The ratio of clueless rubes to thinking folks in Texas is very high. My sympathies go out to the thinking folks in that state. It must be a nightmare being surrounded by bigoted knuckle dragging FOX watching Limbaugh listening Hannity adoring evangelical dimwits.

I sincerely thank you. Houston just re-elected their openly gay female mayor for a third term. It gives a Texan hope.

Run, Raphael, run! And choose Sarah Palin as your running mate!!!

Hollywood had better start planning to not release any movies during their campaign.

I don't think Ted Cruz will even see a run for the presidency. He may win the vote in Texas but he's going to have to go up against more moderate republicans for the presidency. And you all know who that is. The tea party is dead. Most Americans are against the tea party today. I think we were able to see that last night with the elections.

I'm going to disagree with that poll and say that Christie will be the one. If they still choose Cruz...they're going to get a crude awakening. He will just show the country that the GOP has not learned a single thing about how to win the Presidency back.

Ardiva, Christie won't make it through the primaries. The only ones who vote are the die hard uber right wingers and he is a traitor to them (Obama and Sandy proved that).Raffie is a loser but he is beloved by the ones who vote during the campaigns and he has the evangential vote tied up like a present at Xmas.

OH NO! No, no, no, no and no again.

With the way the GOP is accustomed to stealing elections, rigging votes, suppressing minorities and women, dealing in lots of dark money stuff, I don't want Cruz ANYWHERE near the White House. He's too dangerous to allow him in any position like that. It would be a disaster if he got the nomination. So be ever so careful what you wish for.

If he and his crazy father ever ended up in the White House, this country would be doomed. Don't underestimate the cheating and skullduggery that would be afoot if Cruz got the nom, it would be a bloodbath of epic proportions to the health and wellbeing of this country.

And don't forget, the Bald Fella is buds with this sociopath and she would assume a much more active role since he himself credits her with his election.

Nope, bad, bad, bad idea for him to be on this path. That doesn't diminish Hillary's capability, by any means, but it's just too scary to imagine the steps that the GOP would take to rob her of the election through nefarious means.

That said, it WOULD be deeply satisfying to watch Hillary trounce the smarmy asshole, but I'm not willing to take the risk just for that sophomoric satisfaction.
