Toronto's crazy crack smoking mayor is more popular than America's hard working intellectual President. WTF?

Courtesy of the Telegraph:

Rob Ford, the crack-smoking mayor of Toronto, has a higher approval rating than Barack Obama, according to a survey.

A Forum Research survey of 1,049 Toronto voters found that 42 per cent approved of the job Mr Ford has been doing as mayor of Canada's largest city.

Although it is a two point drop from two weeks ago, it is up from the 39 per cent approval rating he had before he admitted smoking crack cocaine.

By comparison, earlier this week Mr Obama's popularity slumped to an all-time low, with only 37 per cent of Americans approving of the job he is doing.

The result suggests that Mr Ford could still be competitive in next year's municipal election, although only 33 per cent of those polled said they would vote for him in 2014.

I swear I could watch this gif all day.
Seriously? This guy polls higher than President Obama?

I cannot tell if I am more concerned that there is something wrong with Canadians, or that there is something wrong with Americans.

This is great news for Chris Christie. He won't have to worry about keeping his bullying tendencies under control.

Mayor have less power in Canada than in the US. However, when I worked in DC, there was a crack smoking mayor elected twice in DC. The job of a mayor and the job of the POTUS are not comparable.

Not sure what you mean by that, but Rob Ford is about as far from socialist as they come in Canada

we don't vote for mayors the way you do in the states, they don't run on a party platform ...here you vote for the person,
and here in ont. we have OHIP with means if you require medical care you either go see your dr. or go to the hospital, show your card, and you are 100% covered no fuss..no bill to pay, weird eh?

Olivia, Barack Obama is a centrist Democrat and he's doing the best job he can given the obstruction by the GOP in Congress and in the states they control. He is a gentleman and a leader.

And also, Olivia, Rob Ford is a Conservative. Much like many of the GOP nuts in Congress. The Canadian who support him so much should decide that what would be best for him and for Toronto would be serious treatment for his problems following his resignation. If, after getting better, he returns to politics - fine, but he is not serving the citizens of Toronto well at this point and he is certainly not doing his body any good either. HIs temper, his obesity, his addictions - something will get him soon. He's really not laughable, he's pathetic.

People are in shock realizing how much they have to pay for Obamacare. Many do not realize that they qualify for aid and/or huge tax credits if their income is too low to be able to pay.

One young couple were told $300 per month each with a $5K deductible. She only makes $150 per week???

They are not paying for Obamacare, rightfully know as the Affordable Care Act, They are paying for insurance policies and the INSURANCE COMPANIES are setting the rates.

A person making $150/wk would qualify for large ACA subsidies and likely pay little for their insurance coverage. Even coverage with a large deductible would cover preventive medical although making only $600 per month would qualify them for many federal programs right now, likely SNAP food benefits and Medicaid. That level of income is considered below the poverty level in most states.

I don't know why, but he reminds me of Chris Farley. I just hope he gets the help he needs, all I see is an impulsive guy in denial reacting to any and all stimuli in his environment.
Everyone has flawed politicians who make fools of themselves.
I'll trade Sarah for this guy anyday, at least he's entertaining! That gif is addictive.

I don't think that any kind of substance addiction is "entertaining." Mayors of major cities make decisions. This man is clearly in no condition to lead the population of Toronto; he should, in some moment of clarity, resign and then get treatment for his obvious problems.

Rob Ford exhibits no control over his grossly overweight body--and, apparently, no control of his emotions. His multiple problems of drug abuse, bombastic-over the top reactions and out of control weight are unhealthy. He's a walking heart attack. Only he can make the final choice to seek help--before he drops dead.
