"In kicking off the lighthearted segment I offered a tongue in cheek message for any kids watching, saying that Santa, who I joked is a real person whose race is identifiable, is white.."
"Lighthearted?"
"Tongue in cheek?"
"Joked?"
Here is the originally broadcast exchange from Wednesday. Does any of THAT seem "lighthearted" or "tongue in cheek" to any of you?
But wait, there's more.
"Well this would be funny if it were not so telling about our society, In particular the knee jerk instinct by so many to race bait, and to assume the worst in people. Especially people employed by the very powerful Fox News channel."
And then there's this:
"By the way I also did say that Jesus was white. As I have learned in the past two days, that is far from settled. (Actually it IS settled. Scholars agree that, if he did indeed live, he was most certainly NOT white!) For me the fact that an off hand jest I made during a segment about whether Santa should be replaced by a penguin, has now become a national firestorm, says two things. Race is still an incredibly volatile issue in this country. (Which those who don't watch Fox News, and keep hearing that racism is over, would already know.) And Fox News, and yours truly, are big targets for many people."
Yes Fox News is a BIG target for many people, because they were the catalyst for the dumbing down of journalism, and remain a place brimming over with bottomless troughs of misinformation, partisan attacks on their political enemies, and bloviating morons who speak authoritatively about subjects that they clearly do not understand.
You know, like the ethnicity of certain religious and historic figures.
Face it "Little Miss I Can't Spell Meghan," you said something incredibly stupid and you got mocked for it.
You work at Fox News, you were hired to say ignorant and factually wrong things. Surely that is written into your contract somewhere!
You have just been given a little leeway by the media because you're pretty, and compared to the usual knuckle dragging morons you seemed relatively reasonable.
Relatively.
However now that America realizes that they gave you too much credit, you can expect more mocking in the future.
On the plus side now you have something to commiserate with Sarah Palin over.
and like that other bimbo palin, she doesn't take responsibility for her racist attacks but plays the victim...
ReplyDeleteAnd she had a day off "sick" - couldn't handle the twitter - and it's only got worse since that humorous response.
DeleteThat was not humor. She only made herself ugly and who can trust her now? 4 to 9 people at Fox?
DeleteGreat rant, Gryphen!
ReplyDeleteOh, and sorry, Megyn, you tried your best, but the position you're angling for is filled already, and, I'm afraid, it's filled forever -- Sarah Palin is the President-For-All-Time of the "I Can Dish It Out But I Can't Take It" Club, But your valiant effort has earned you a slot on the ICDIOBICTI Advisory Board.
Please be kind to Megyn, she has had a life altering event in her life. It must have come as such a shock to her to learn Jesus was not white. All the photos she has looked at was a lie. She shit her pants.
Deleteyou mean they have those kind of people in white heaven. that is not what Ronald promised. I could one day see Barry there, oh shit.
DeleteAh, Megyn. How does it feel to be just another bought and paid for racist floozie?Have you told THAT to your daughters?
ReplyDeleteOne component of the modus operandi of the right is to project its own nature on critics. They do the holier than thou deny and accuse dance. Kelly is following the script.
ReplyDeleteMegyn and Fox are tap dancing on an electrified floor.
ReplyDeleteFox only uses the darker crayons in its carton for pictures of the devil. It is how Fox throws meat to its audience.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess I will soon be hearing Mandela wasn't white and the Pope is black, right?
ReplyDeleteThe total IQ in that video clip is less than the average rock.
ReplyDeleteOf all the news items Meghan could have chosen to talk about on her show Wednesday night, she chose to talk about the African-American writer from Slate who was discussing what it would be like if everyone believed Santa to be of colored skin.
ReplyDeleteMeghan decides to bring that topic out for discussion. No one forced her to bring that up. Who is the race baiter?
Her discussion in the matter, with her panel, became evident they were not amused about either Santa or Jesus Christ being anything but white. So who was opening the can of worms here?
When people call her out for this stupid discussion, which has absolutely no bearing on Santa believers (kids from 0 to 5 years of age), and believers in Christ (who put their faith and hope in His Nature, not his skin color), then she slams them down, blaming them for being race baiters.
We see what's going on here, Meghan, and no one is fooled.
great points, 5:37.
DeleteWhile it is true that no one forced Megyn to cover the non-story about an African-American view of non-white Santa and Jesus
Deleteat least she showed the sensitivity to have a very fair and balanced group which included African-American as well as Latin-American panelists with whom she discussed the matter.
From a warped mind.......this sense of "humor"........
ReplyDelete"OK, I know I'm gonna catch flack for this, but let me try....", Who's butt cheek was the angry white bigot woman's tongue in? Because IF the original BROADcast was intended as "humor", why the need to reiterate it while defending it?
ReplyDelete"So, in Slate, they have a piece on dot com,,,,," Says the peroxide blonde bigoted brainless bimbo. No, Megyn, the piece wasn't on "dot com", It was on "race", and she brought up the "white elephant" in the room.
Check this ludicrous pangyric by a Dan Zak, in the Wash Post:
ReplyDeletehttp://m.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/megyn-kelly-foxs-brightest-fastest-rising-star/2013/12/11/e4987dec-5dee-11e3-be07-006c776266ed_story.html
"... ludicrous pangyric"
DeleteYes indeed. Blech!
From the article:
Delete...And so it’s to this Megyn Kelly — the only Megyn Kelly who exists, the Megyn Kelly who seems incapable of a false move — that we address a question about Sarah Palin.
You had her on “The Kelly File” on Oct. 17, and she stumbled through warped talking points about how Barack Obama is dismantling the country by emboldening our enemies and bankrupting our economy. You tried eventually to corral her back to your chosen topic of GOP approval ratings, but the guff was already out there, unchallenged, on national television.
The Palin spot seemed, well, contrary to who you are and what you stand for.
“Everything she says is news, right?” Kelly says. “That’s why all the other channels are clamoring to get her on. It’s not just Fox. It’s not just me. You’ve seen that. Jake Tapper, all of them. But she comes on Fox with more frequency because she’s a Fox News contributor. So . . .”
So you put her on your show with no qualms whatsoever?
Kelly pauses. Then says: “She’s been on one time.”
Oh yes. Note too, this “writer" Dan Zak goes on to imagine “a liberal" “thinking" “she's one of us!" Ah, no.
DeleteIt's all in the timing.
I think she should be fired immediately! They fired Bashir for insulting one person;Palin.. Meghan has now insulted millions. So bye bye Meghan
ReplyDeleteIt will depend on the number of letters. Who depends on her for news? Comedy? Drama?
DeleteIf she had half a brain cell she would immediately step down. Stop over bleaching her hair and go back to her natural hair color.
Smooth talking Megyn, but that was NOT what you said. Liar. I also noticed that she glossed quickly over her "fox" paux about Jesus being white.
ReplyDeleteI happen to be an expert liar detector, having lived with one for too many years. Classic, Megyn.
Does she want the adulation of the Palin crowd? They adore ignorance, stupidity, intolerance, and hatred. Maybe she wants to tap into their nickels.
ReplyDeleteWill Megyn Kelly be fired for her blatant racism - as was Martin Bashir for his truths - NO - one law for the white and one for the others in these United States
ReplyDeleteSo Ms Kelly thinks it's ok to joke about race? What an ignorant pathetic woman!
ReplyDeleteYou'd only be this defensive Megyn if you've managed to con yourself into believing Fox keeps you because you're any kind of real journalist, and not because they just needed an added Barbie.
ReplyDeleteRacist troll. Sounds a little like the Monkey Queen... Twins ?
ReplyDeleteRon Gilmer • "I understand that of course you were not just speaking for just for the right of Christians wanting to see Christ back in Christmas but you were speaking out for every American for all rights; all rights that we have under our Constitution! And such as it may be this is the whole crux of the problems of America! We have lost the leaders who have the character to live and be part of people's rights! And now a little off of the Christmas Spirit but a bit more on the rights of the people by the Constitution! It is hard to have a Constitution when we have so many politicians who are not for America! Why would people elect politicians who do not have the values that we as true Americans have! Why do we have a Muslim in our congress and why do we have a gay Muslim as the president! The Muslim values and not even close to the American values. And this brings up a comment I just read where Obama says if we do not work with Iran we will be at war with this country!"
ReplyDeletehttp://barracudabrigade.blogspot.com/2013/11/there-aint-no-such-thing-as-free-lunch.html
.... huh ? Why would people elect politicians who do not have the values that we as true Americans have! Why do we have a Muslim in our congress and why do we have a gay Muslim as the president! ?
Please, don't drink and post.
DeleteYep, that is why Megyn can get by with her whitewash. The Gilmer's are her audience. Great patriots who love the rights of the people by the Constitution! and why do we have a Muslim in our congress?
DeleteHome-Schooling is ruining the Republican Party.
DeleteGo suck a dick, Ron. Do it today.
DeleteWe have a member of Congress who is Muslim because the constituents voted him in. Americans have also voted for Catholics, Protestants, Quakers, Jews, Buddhists, atheists, etc. Fortunately there is no "religious requirement" for candidates in this country. It was part of the Constitution. And, besides, President Obama is neither gay nor Muslim.
DeleteBeaglemom
@9:42 - The same curriculum is used in "Christian" schools. Don't be fooled just because it's on a larger scale.
DeleteRace baiting on a "serious" news show
ReplyDeleteThat's a new one for me. Rather appalling, really.
What would Walter Cronkite say?
Bumpy Ride: How Chris Christie’s Traffic Scandal May Wreck His Presidential Bid
ReplyDelete...The situation offers him no way to claim victory. If it is true, then he is a real-life Tony Soprano, using his power and authority to intimidate his political opponents and putting people’s lives and well-being at risk to prove a political point. How can America be expected to elect someone who resorts to infantile revenge tactics when he feels he is wronged? How can America elect someone who is the antithesis of the man we currently have in office?
If the situation is false, it raises huge questions about the people Chris Christie associates himself with. How can he be expected to produce a presidential cabinet when he can’t even figure out who’s in charge of doing a simple traffic study? How will he respond in office the first time a member of his close inner circle is criticized? And, most importantly, how will he respond when even the smallest decision he makes is magnified and critiqued by multiple news outlets on a daily basis?
For those hoping to see the premature end of a Chris Christie Republican nomination, Christmas came early this year.
http://www.politicususa.com/2013/12/14/bumpy-ride-chris-christies-traffic-scandal-wreck-presidential-bid.html
Christie's "traffic scandal" shows his true colors. We have a similar situation here on a much smaller scale. It was announced recently that omen of the elementary schools will be closed. A school board member said publicly that the district should close one where there had been the least support for the most recent mileage. Guess which school the board picked to close? Never mind that it is located in one of the poorer parts of the district. The vote just went the wrong way. Some politicians think that they can just punish those constituents who don't always want to do their bidding. Gov. Christie meet a very mean member of our school board; you would get along very well but just don't disagree with each other - ever.
DeleteBeaglemom
I'm surprised she didn't add that we only hate her because she's beautiful... unlike librul women, don'tcha know.
ReplyDeletelol where's the like button.
Deletejesus was not fucking white. end. of. story.
ReplyDeleteshe can try, but she has FAILED. but in reality, all her viewers are fine with it and believe the same shit, so probably nothing has been learned.
So IOW Megyn Kelly isn't just a coldhearted racist, she's a liar and a coward too. No wonder she's FOX's new poster girl.
ReplyDeleteWow! 'Whitewashing' is the perfect word. That's about as textbook as you can get for the shameless use of classic deceit tactics to mislead, avoid responsibility, and hide the complete absence of integrity.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she finally called herself a "target". It would have been so out of character for a Repug not to play the victim card.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the Palin trolls aren't rushing in to support Megyn - they really have no politics at all - simply adoration for their queen OR is it that they only get paid for trolling comments about Palin?
ReplyDeleteFox News viewers can't accept the fact that Santa and Jesus might not be white? That's crazy! I mean, they've totally accepted that a US president can be black, right?
ReplyDeleteWhenever someone on the right gets caught out in one of their outrageous statements, that person always then whines that "it was only a joke," Her statements were ludicrous but were no joke when she made them. She just got caught out and criticized. She should have the courage to come out and say that she had been wrong, simply wrong.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
The deceitful are always "targets' (for change) for those who value the truth.
ReplyDeleteRhymes with "hunt"
ReplyDeleteWell I wonder what color the Easter Bunny is? C'mon ....... this is important.
ReplyDeleteDear Stupid and possibly blonde Megyn,
ReplyDeleteA "news" channel with journalistic integrity is "respected." A brainwashing, propaganda spewing outlet of the TeaTHUGlican party is "powerful." Guess we now know what you work for, via your own words.
LOL, LOL, LOL...a magical creature such as santa claus can be anything "it" wants to be....
ReplyDeleteP.S does she think santa is real? does she stand outside on Christmas Eve waiting for him to fly bye? Stupid is as stupid does (or in this case "says")!
I am glad Meg outed herself. I saw and knew very little about her. She could seem more intelligent than Palin. Now we know why she is in the closet. I am thankful she is out. Yes, Fox could and should fire her. No they won't, she is Fox "News".
ReplyDeleteOkay, ignoring everything else....she claims to be a journalist and she only learned in the last two days that the race of Jesus is debatable? (Well, it's not and he wasn't white.)
ReplyDeleteThose that watch Fox, watch this air head and believe her deserve what they get. Let them stay STOOPID!
It's a shame they are still allowed to vote but you don't have to pass I.Q. tests or even tests for basic knowledge in order to vote. Any idiot can make their mark now. (And I'm talking about Fox viewers and 'baggers here. Go ahead and flame me for being a bigot. That's right. I am prejudiced against those that celebrate, rejoice in and are proud of their ignorance.)
Conservatives need to tell that they are joking while they are doing it, not claiming to be joking to CYA afterwards.
ReplyDeleteSometimes they do joke, but they say so many crazy things it can be hard to tell the difference.
She was a sandy blonde before she went sexy.

It's fascinating to see that her comments were "just joking", but the idea of having a black Santa or a penguin Santa was serious enough that it deserved a panel.
