Homophobia and ignorance converge on the Sean Hannity Show, featuring Sarah Palin resplendent in camouflage clothing and hypocrisy soaked hair piece. Update!

Hannity does the set up which includes a whitewashing of Duck Dynasty patriarch, Phil Robertson's remarks. Once the raw meat is deemed sufficiently bloodied, they release the Palin!

Hannity: "That looks like a Duck Dynasty camo shirt. Is that it?"

Palin: "Uh we wear camo up here everyday and it's funny that, ironically, I was wearing camo this morning when your producer called to ask if I'd be on the show. And I'm like 'Sure, and I'll keep my same clothes on if you don't mind.'" (So those are Palin's camouflage PJ's? Ewww!)

Hannity then asks for Palin's thought on the controversy. (I bet she starts with it being all about "freedom.")

Palin: "Well it's all about freedom. Free speech, ya know so many American families have spilt blood and treasure to guarantee Phil Robertson's, and everybody else's right to voice their personal opinions (Except YOU Martin Bashir!), and once that freedom is lost Sean, everything is lost in our country. Now, A&E they were absolute quacks on this one, the marketing department there, here they had just recently rolled out their new slogan from their marketing department. And it's 'Be original.' Well that translates, with A&E's marketing department today into, 'Be stupid.'

"To get rid of the most popular patriarch on television today...uh I tell ya there are other networks that would just nab these guys up in a heartbeat. A&E really screwed up on this one."

Hannity then goes on to claim to be a fan of the show and that the reason it is popular is because they talk about religion. (And here I thought it had something to do with ducks.) Finally asking "Doesn't this have a lot to do with religion?"

Palin: "Well you know, they're not in your face though which I think is so refreshing. (Yeah, for instance THEY are not trying to sell a book attacking atheists and suggesting that only Christians can enjoy Christmas.) You know they talk about tradition, they live out traditional Judeo-Christian ethics, that our nation is founded upon. And I think that is, not only refreshing, but it's..it's ...uh..inspiring and empowering for the rest of America to be emboldened and to say "Hey, if they can do it, and be so popular, and not as mocked and criticized perhaps, until now, as others have been then maybe the rest of us can do it too.' And that's got to strengthen our country. And it's going to strengthen those who are elected to protect our freedoms. (Wait, the Duck Dynasty guy was protecting America's freedoms? By appearing on a reality show?) Hopefully it will make them acknowledge how important our foundation of freedom is and they'll do something about it."

(So to be clear what the crazy person is saying is that Robertson's homophobic rant should be ignored because his appearances on Duck Dynasty serve as a model to politicians that THEY can also push their religious beliefs down the throats of the American people? WTF?)

Hannity then does his job of turning the attention back to Palin, and what a poor victim SHE has been of attacks from the Left. And pointing out that she did not call for boycotts against Bill Maher or Martin Bashir for their comments. (No she just fired up the paint chip eaters and let THEM do her dirty work.)

Palin: "No, because I am a freedom of speech kind of gal." (At this point I ironically look over at my letter from Thomas Van Flein threatening to sue me if I did not retract everything from my Splitsville post back in August of 2009. All of which turned out to be true by the way.) "I'll tell ya I got a lot of e-mails this morning on this one with A&E, where a friend, in fact a friend of mine that happens to be gay, she e-mailed me to say she is outraged at A&E for the hypocrisy here for the things they air on their program that she finds offensive, yet A&E doesn't fire a star or somebody involved in their programming based on what they've said, but they would when it comes to Phil on Duck Dynasty. And this friend, she said that she would boycott A&E, and that network, (DO you hear that A&E? Sarah Palin's only gay friend is no longer going to be watching your shows. That'll learn ya!)and um she's not the only one, I've received many many e-mails from people saying 'You know why give them our money, our eyes, ears, our resources?' There are other channels out there to be watching?"

(So to be clear, Sarah Palin's VAST group of gay supporters are going to stop watching A&E over this situation. I cannot almost hear the executives tremble from here.)

Hannity brings the subject back to the fact that Robertson was simply defending his right as a Christian to call out the sinners, and asks Palin if she agrees that many Christians share his views on homosexuality.

Palin: "Well what Phil was saying in..eh..he was reciting a part of the Gospel. The liberal Left must feel that the Gospel then is insulting and offensive. Because Phil was just repeating what is in the Bible. And what Phil went on to say was that all sins are equal, and we all sin (Some more than others, right Sarah?), so we all need a savior. And I say that at this time, this Christmas season, now is the time where, like the three wise men, we can seek that savior, we can find that savior ,and then our problems will be solved. That's what Phil was saying." (Well as a member of the Liberal Left I found almost all of that offensive, as well as historically, rationally,  and even Biblically inaccurate.)

Hannity then asks if Palin thinks that Americans, whom he seems to believe think like both he and Palin do, will rise up in support of Duck Dynasty the way they did for the owner of Chick-fil-A?

PALIN: "Absolutely! You're going to see people wearing their camo. You're going to see people wearing their red, white and blue bandanas and be out there with their duck calls and everything else, as this manifestation of support for a family that is traditional and strong and they circle the wagons when times are tough and -- and -- that is so Americana. And it's patriotic. It's beautiful. (Camo and duck calls are beautiful? Maybe in Wasilla!) It's part of the heart of America. And we all need to be out there promoting and protecting the heart of America. We can do that by showing support for Duck Dynasty." (So to be clear kids, protecting the reality show Duck Dynasty is JUST like putting on a uniform and fighting for your country.)

Hannity then asks about some of the other A&E programs, and suggests that though conservatives might find them offensive they do not demand that they be removed. (Apparently Hannity is unaware of the activities of the American Family Association, and other religious groups that regularly demand that programming be changed and threaten boycotts.)

PALIN: "Yes, my reaction to A&E, again, is their new slogan, "Be original," does translate into "Be stupid" because if they have such a hypocritical view of what is acceptable and not acceptable, well, that is going to offend the majority of Americans."

"Bottom line, Sean, is A&E has chosen to marginalize and tried to stifle the freedom of someone who is filled with faith in the Gospel, that being Phil from "Duck Dynasty." And Americans -- we're smart enough to understand what's going on here. We're also smart enough to understand that we do not have to promote and give business to a network like that, if we, you know, don't believe in the action that they just took. And A&E is going to feel it."

Damn that is a lot of hypocrisy for this early on a Friday morning!

Somewhere I have to believe that Martin Bashir is shaking his head in disbelief and muttering, "She really is insane isn't she?"

Yes Martin, she is!

Update: In reference to Palin's love for free speech and her contention that she would never respond as GLAAD did in response to Phil Roberston's words, let me present the SarahPAC letter calling for Martin Bashir to be fired.

Update 2: Here is another Phil Robertson anti-gay rant in case we were not convinced by the first one:

The most inflammatory section of his attack on the lives of gay people is when he quotes the full passage of Romans 1:26-32 which is often used as an example for Christian opposition to homosexuality.

Verse 29 begins, 'They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents and they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.'

Oh yeah, gotta love that free speech.

Sarah is a Free Sex kinda Gal, right, Glenn Rice, Curt Menard, and Brad Hanson? As for free speech, how's Todd Palin's Rainbow Sex Trafficking Lodge doing? How's Track Menard's Rehab going? How's Bristol Palin's Junker Pregnancy going? How's Tri-g's Therapy going? How many School Days has Piper missed? How old is Willow's Baby?

Hey! You are not allowed to use the R word anymore according to Sarah. Remember she tried to get Rahm Emmanuel fired for allegedly using it when he was White House COS? Of course when Rush used it, he was, according to her using satire. And when Ann Coulter uses it, as she does all the time, not a peep. Sarah really needs a lesson in the first amendment along with all the other right wing chuckleheads. Congress didn't make a law, A&E was protecting their bottom line.

Sarah Palin believes in punishing people for saying the wrong thing about her. Martin Bashir-- we've discussed that. All he was trying to point out was that slavery was far worse than owing people money, and maybe Sarah should have a taste of the humiliation that slaves had to endure.

Bill Maher, during a comedy show that was not open to the public, called Sarah a nasty name. (So did Cher. What happened to freedom of speech, anyway?) Sarah decided that President Obama should return Bill's million dollar contribution to the President's reelection. It doesn't make sense, but somebody has to pay for insulting Sarah.

There is nothing new with the Duck Patriarch's slap on the wrist. He said some pretty nasty things that are no longer acceptable speech. When Alec Baldwin used homophobic slurs towards a photographer, he lost his program on MSNBC. They didn't want to be associated with Baldwin's hot temper. Bristol and Willow use homophobic slurs and they are rewarded with thousands of dollars for appearing in a fake reality show. All Tripp did was to repeat what he hears around the house. Nice child rearing, Bristol. Paula Deen make her racist comments years ago, when that might have been more acceptable talk in the South. Now it isn't, and her sponsors dropped her. No one wants to antagonize any potential viewers, shoppers, readers or anyone else.

Sarah Palin is a fabrication, an invention, a creation of her own making. We know that she can't shoot straight. She couldn't load her own rifle. Does it kick, Daddy? She showed a photo of Piper jumping from a waterfall, but Palin admitted that she was too chicken to make the same jump. And, she wants to have a reality show with the emphasis on hunting and fishing. All that we saw of Sarah's recent moose hunt was that she stayed in camp picking blueberries. Wearing camo does not make Sarah a hunter. It's not even a good color for her.

Palin and the Duck Dynasty are marketing creations. The Duck Boys didn't like the way that their show was edited, and they wanted more money, now that they have become such a ratings hit. I am sure that somewhere there is another father making up another Balloon Boy to become another reality show. Somewhere, there are people doing even crazier things, sending in their videos, hoping to be the next family that does strange things and then prays together at the end of the show. Nasty bitchy housewives, drug addled rock stars, Honey Boo Boo hill billies, Dance Moms, Hoarders, a family that keeps on having children, sister wives, flip this house, it is all created for TV, and the bigger, bolder and nastier the characters are, the bigger the hit. I remember when people were shocked that wrestling was fake. So much of the grandstanding we see in politics is fake, staged in order to get attention. None of these people would get noticed if they didn't do or say something even more outrageous than the last guy.

I read the post above and all I could think of was "she's a legend in her own mind". so I went to the Urban Dictionary to see where that phrase came from but I found this:
"1. legend in one's own mind
It is a person that exaggerates their self importance. These people like to boast or brag about their achievements, positions and accomplishments. Often seen as drama queens, blowhards and egomaniacs. These people like to inflate their credentials, but in reality they're not that important.
The people who like to inflate their claim to fame are a legend in one's own mind."
      Ok, that fits just fine.
Then I was searching around in the Urban dictionary and found this:
      " Palin
      1. An applicant lacking even basic job skills
      2. Someone supremely un-self-aware or lacking any relative sense of what he/she does or doesn't know.
HR sent me another Palin for the marketing manager job."
      and this:
      " Palin
      n.
      1. Pejorative term that refers to an incompetent, impractical, irrelevant or incapable person who has been appointed to a position of great importance.

      2. A person who holds authority disproportionate to his or her requisite ethics and qualifications. Derived from John McCain's controversial 2008 Vice Presidential pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
John was recently made principal, but everybody thinks he's a Palin who can't do the job."
and then there was this: used as a verb!
      "palin
      (v) to abandon one's principles for short term gain
Tom, a devout vegan, palined when he consumed a happy meal solely to obtain the collectible toy it contained."

And there is so much more! OMG, Gryphen, you could do an entire post on Urban Dictionary Palin references!
Hahahaha, she is Immortal!!! Wiping tears off my keyboard.

Yeah, what happened to the author of Romans 1:26-32 after delivering that message to the Romans of Nero's time, hm? Paul of Tarsus was beheaded. The first recorded case of a conservative not knowing his audience.

Phil Robertson, in bleeping his personal opinion to GQ, apparently was prepared to be a right-wing victim of and martyr to societal opprobrium. The fact that so many other right-wingers are defending him simply indicates that they and he occupy the same small narrow-minded niche in American society. They aren't a majority, however much they like to pretend they are.

I think the Pope says it best when he calls out the high and mighty.
“In Christmas, God reveals himself not as one who stands above and who dominates the universe, but as He who lowers himself,” said Pope Francis.

"It means that to be like Him, we do not have to place ourselves above the others, but come down, come down and serve them, become small among the small, and poor among the poor," he explained, according to Rome Reports.

"It's a bad thing when one sees a Christian that does not want to come down, a Christian that uses everything to show off. Not nice, eh? That is not Christian, that is paganism," Pope Francis said.

Robertson Family Threatens to Kill Duck Dynasty If They Can’t Spew Bigotry and Hate

The Duck Dynasty clan wants the freedom to hate, or they are threatening to cancel their show.

In a statement, the Robertson family made their threat to A&E clear,

    STATEMENT

...The Robertsons like many other right wing Christians are using the Bible as justification for their hatred of gays. Phil Robertson is basing his hate speech on his interpretation of the Bible. His interpretation is not fact, and shouldn’t be given the same weight as fact. What the Robertson family didn’t address was how Phil’s religious beliefs explain away his comments about race, “I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

The Robertsons are revealing themselves to be typical right wing extremists who try to hide their agenda behind “religious freedom.” The Robertsons are both trying to play the victim and bully others into accepting their bigotry. Phil Robertson has a right to be intolerant, but he and his family don’t have a right to a television show or viewers.

Duck Dynasty is Honey Boo Boo with beards. They are reality TV stars, nothing more. If they insist on pushing their extremist agenda, the Robertsons are going to find themselves without a television show.

Oh this is just as sick as can be:

On Friday, GOP congressional candidate Ian Bayne went all in, comparing Robertson to civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

"In December 1955, Rosa Parks took a stand against an unjust societal persecution of black people, and in December 2013, Robertson took a stand against persecution of Christians," Bayne said in an email to supporters.

"What Parks did was courageous," he added. "What Mr. Robertson did was courageous too."

This is a very good article about what the Duck Dynasty tells us about homophobia and the media: http://thinkprogress.org/alyssa/2013/12/19/3089521/duck-dynasty-controversy-perfect-media-scandal-2013/

"It’s easy, I suppose, to dismiss the coverage of Robertson’s remarks, his suspension, and Jindal’s follow-up as all-too-predictable. But in 2013, that’s precisely why the cycle of the scandal matters. We’ve reached a point where the monetization of controversial figure as entertainment, their inevitable line-crossing, the organizations that exists to police that line-stepping, and the outrage that accompanies networks’ moderation of their own business strategies is an institution in and of itself. The relationships between all players in the cycle are symbiotic. But the power to influence culture and determine which political ideas are mass-marketable is decidedly real."

I would put Sarah Palin in the same predictable bunch. She said twice that what she was about to say might be considered racist, and then she compare debt to slavery. Yes, Sarah loves to shock people. She carefully chooses clothing that is provocative. Her hair has gotten bigger, her boobs come in medium, large and even larger, her jeans are getting tighter and she is getting rail-thin. She and the entire bunch at Fox love to antagonize people with "Santa Claus and Jesus were white," and their yearly War on Christmas. (From the lights, the crowds, the traffic jams, the crowds at the airports, the shops filled with people, I think that Christmas is winning).

These people are professional in the art of saying and doing things that attract attention, and the article points out that there are groups which respond, there is a well established cycle of being slapped on the wrist or fired or suspended and then we move on to the next drama. Sarah and The Ducks are part of this freak show. It's all been scripted and acted out before.

Stewart Torches Fox News’ Defense of Phil Robertson’s Right to Say ‘Ignorant Sh*t’

“Look, I think what the guy said is ignorant,” Stewart said, “but I also have an inclination to support a world where saying ignorant shit on television doesn’t get you kicked off that medium.” But does Fox News truly believe you shouldn’t “pressure people to have to adhere to cultural norms of speech?”

This led to an epic “War on Christmas” montage, after which Stewart explained that Fox’s “belief in free speech doesn’t extend to the holidays where the word Christmas is mandatory.”

It's always interesting to watch right wingers talk about a subject while totally failing to recognise the obvious answer staring them in the face.

Palin and Hannity are agonizing over the "hypocrisy" that shows that conservatives may find objectionable aren't being removed from the air. They chalk it up to conservatives being all free-speechy and not complaining, which Gryph correctly points out is not the case.

Clearly the obvious realization that any normal person would have is that outraged conservatives simply don't have the numbers to have any impact. A&E are well aware of what their demographics are, and if conservative outrage was a threat to their bottom line, they never would have said a thing about Robertson's remarks.

Comedian Rob Delaney Dissects Phil Robertson’s ‘Butthole Logic’

    http://www.mediaite.com/online/comedian-rob-delaney-dissects-phil-robertsons-butthole-logic/

Rush Limbaugh: Duck Dynasty’s ‘Goose Is Cooked’

Rush Limbaugh doesn’t see how Duck Dynasty is going to recover from the outrage over Phil Robertson’s comments on homosexual sex. On his radio show Thursday morning, Limbaugh said that by suspending Robertson, A&E has “thrown away the largest audience on cable television.” The show’s “goose is cooked,” he added.

“Look, strictly in terms of numbers, the gay population, which supposedly is offended here, is max 2%,” Limbaugh continued. “The Christian population is 250 million people. So the market is going to reflect that at some point in regards to this program.” A Williams Institute survey conducted in 2011 put that number closer to 4%.

Limbaugh balked at the idea that Robertson’s views qualified as “discrimination,” as GLAAD indicated in a letter to A&E. “Who is being discriminated against here except Phil Robertson?” Limbaugh asked. “Who just lost a job because of religious beliefs? Phil Robertson.”

A&E NYC Office Beefs Up Security After 'Duck Dynasty' Death Threats

A&E Network has had to beef up security at its New York headquarters after receiving death threats and suspicious packages from people enraged about the network’s decision to suspend Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson.

No formal meetings are schedule today between A&E and the Robertson clan, who yesterday issued a statement saying they “cannot imagine” doing the show without Phil — which, loosely translated, means “No Phil – no show.”

That said, the network, which has had a good working relationship with the family (as the clan noted in its statement), is “always talking to them,” as one source with knowledge of the family said.

The decision to suspend Phil Robertson triggered a firestorm and has created some strange bedfellows; last night Jon Stewart defended Phil’s “right to say ignorant shit” — joining Phil defenders Sarah Palin, who’d tweeted “Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us,” and Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who’d pronounced it “It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.”

Sarah Palin's Impressively Incoherent Defense Of 'Duck Dynasty'

....The thing is, Robertson's ouster by A&E was exactly the same sort of move – a network sucking it up and distancing itself from an on-air figure because of controversial speech. But because Robertson's views were ones Palin apparently agrees with, suddenly she wasn't talking about anything being refreshing, but instead cried that "free speech is an endangered species."

Palin's inability to grasp the difference between a first-amendment violation and corporate calculation is amazing because she literally just published a book on the subject. Her newly-released War-on-Christmas diatribe, Good Tidings and Great Joy, is all about the efforts by evil Jesus-hating atheists to sue the Christmas out of our public lives. (It's one of the funniest things ever written, by the way. I would write a review but I don't think I could make it all the way to the end without a cardiac episode).

In writing this new book, Palin presumably spent the whole of the last year or so staring right at the issue of what may be said on private property versus what may be said on public property – the difference between putting up a nativity scene in front of a courthouse and putting one up on your lawn. Yet as this latest controversy shows, the underlying issue is still a total blur to her.

"There really are two Americas" and that the divide over the show "has as much to do with class and geography and culture and attitude as it does with religion."

    That's true.

Specifically, there's one America where comparing homosexuality to bestiality is considered acceptable, and another where it is rude and offensive.

In one America, it's OK to say this of gays and lesbians: "They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil." In the other America, you're not supposed to say that.

There's one America where it's OK to say this about black people in the Jim Crow-era South: "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues." There's another America where that statement is considered to reflect ignorance and insensitivity.

In one America, it's OK to attribute the Pearl Harbor attacks to Shinto Buddhists' failure to accept Jesus. In the other America, that is not OK.

There are two Americas, one of which is better than the other. And it's instructive who's sticking up for the worse America.

The conservative politicians who are complaining that Phil Robertson's firing flies in the face of "free speech" are generally smart enough to understand that Robertson doesn't actually have a legal right to be on A&E. When Sarah Palin and her cohorts talk about the importance of "free speech," they mean something much more specific: That the sorts of things that Robertson said are not the sorts of things a private employer should want to fire someone for saying. That they are, or ought to be, within the bounds of social acceptability.

But they're wrong. The other America — the America I live in — has this one right. Racist and anti-gay comments and comments disparaging of religious minorities are rude and unacceptable and might cost you your job. It's not OK to say that gay people are "full of murder."

Stephen Colbert passionately defends bigotry of ‘backwoods Louisiana bird-murderer’

Last night, Stephen Colbert came to the defense of embattled reality television star Phil Robertson.

“This is a terrible day for Americans,” Colbert said. “But admittedly, a pretty good day for ducks.”

“Why did A&E A-and-axe him?” he asked. “Because this good Christian man spoke his mind to GQ about the gays.”

After quoting Robertson’s remarks about preferring “vaginas” to “a man’s anus” because “there’s more there,” Colbert admits that “it’s not the eloquent speech you might expect from a backwoods Louisiana bird-murderer.”

He then went on to discuss Robertson’s views on race, which include his remarks about having grown in the pre-Jim Crow era, when “no [black people] were singing the blues.”

There is a huge ignorance gap about the true meaning of "free speech" and speaking grossly on a privately owned program or on other private property. Neither the "wicked witch" and Hannity (I am so ignorant, I don't know it) know the difference.

I will so glad if that entire show is dropped.

But it did make me wonder. How the hell did they make all that money to afford the fancy cars, trucks and mansions? They sell duck calls. How in the hell many duck hunters are there and how many duck calls do they buy? I cannot believe they make enough to live the way they do. I have to wonder if there shouldn't be some investigation going on to see what else they are selling to be so rich.

It's not interchangeable with 'Bible'. And, no, Robertson didn't quote from the Gospel.

...Duck Dynasty was a major P.R. coup for conservative America because it was free of comments like the ones Robertson let loose in GQ. The show was carefully scripted and edited to make the Robertsons seem like they aren’t bad people, just a little kooky and “old-fashioned”.* It made conservative America look cuddly and warm and fun-loving, instead of what Drew Magary of GQ actually exposed it to be, which is miserable, resentful, and hateful. While I think most conservatives and most liberals understood implicitly that there was a whole side of this family that wasn’t on camera—was anyone really surprised by the GQ interview?—by carefully hiding it, A&E allowed conservative America to play up their own mythology about being decent people, deep down inside.

Now their cover is blown, and like morons, instead of blaming the guy who blew their cover, they’re whining that the cable networks are a bunch of meanies. Look, idiots, the cable networks bend over backwards to help conservative America out. How many times now has some right wing conservative TV hero turned out to be an embarrassment? Paula Deen? Dog the Bounty Hunter? I can’t believe, for instance, that the Duggars have managed to stay under the radar, since Jim Duggar thinks 1/3 of American women are Nazis because they’ve had abortions—I guess he was smart enough to argue his point through implication, knowing the media needs direct quotes in order to get the story to stick with people. TV networks bend over backwards to put a shiny, happy face on the rot that is conservative American culture, and instead of thanking them profusely, wingnuts just whine that they can’t be more bigoted on camera. Jesus.

*”Old-fashioned” is in quotes because what modern conservatives build up as traditional behavior is largely a bunch of recent cultural inventions to compete with mainstream culture that they find alienating. While it has elements of the traditional in it—racism, sexism, homophobia—the histrionic religiosity and definitely the unkempt facial hair would have seemed very alien to previous generations of Americans.

A&E wants it both ways. There is no hero in this story. A&E knew who it was they were hiring, so for them to act shocked now is really disingenuous. Plus, A&E is so outraged that they ran a duck marathon today and there is another in two days and more after that.

I have never watched the show and do not plan to. But I have the feeling that ratings are going to go even higher with all this controversy. Perhaps that is what A&E was going for all along.

That passage in Romans says in verse 18: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness."

And it goes on to verse 21, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

If I read this correctly, it's talking to people who are HOLD the truth in unrighteousness. This is directed at those who profess themselves as godly and become so enraptured with themselves, that they are sent strong delusions, hence, the things that were stated by Robertson. So, in essence, these verses aren't talking to homosexuals, they are directed at those who are unthankful and unrighteous.

There are a lot of passages that detail all kinds of sin, but the gyst of Paul to the Romans here is that the wrath is directed at those who should know better.
