Oklahoma passes law allowing religious displays on public property. Satanists thrilled at opportunity to join in.

Courtesy of Americans Against the Tea Party:

In addition to performing the post-mortem homosexual transformation of Fred Phelps’s mom, the Satanic Temple has now offered to donate a monument on behalf of Oklahoma Satanists for display upon the statehouse grounds. The organization has moved forward to file papers to display a memorial next to the state’s display of the 10 Commandments and according to Oklahoma’s religious display legislation, signed into law in 2009, the Temple as every right to do so.

“By accepting our offer,” said the Temple’s spokesman, Lucien Greaves. “the good people of Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to show that they espouse the basic freedoms spelled out in the Constitution … Allowing us to donate a monument would show that the Oklahoma City Council does not discriminate, and both the religious and non-religious should be happy with such an outcome.”

It looks like the Conservatives have found themselves in a bit of a religious freedom pickle. Thanks to their argument for religious monuments on public display, it appears they now must accept the Satanic Temple and their memorial. But of course, if not accepted, we sincerely doubt that anyone would be surprised to find out that the legislation is completely hypocritical and specifically only focused on one religious view in direct violation of the US Constitution. Obviously, Oklahoma lawmakers did not take Satanists into consideration when passing such an open bill regarding religious freedom. I guess it is true what they say, “Be careful what you wish for.”

I envision something along the lines of this:

You know, something tasteful, that the whole family can enjoy.

I think that this is going to be very entertaining indeed.

Yes, they are all for "Christmas carols," "creches on public property, and pageants celebrating Jesus in public schools, until someone wants to celebrate Kwaanza or Channukah on school property, aren't they? See GOP, the reason for the laws is to stop ALL religious nuts from preaching to your precious vessels and turning them away from mums and poopsie. In other words, if you don't want your child to be doing Muslim prayers, then don't tell the Muslim parents their children have to pray to your God. Because, in America, everyone has the right to worship or not. Founders and Freedom and the Constitution. Sarah Pain is wrong. Hannity and BOR are wrong. Oklahoma is about to find out how wrong!

Some Americans are having a difficult time accepting the fact that many, many folks living in the USA are NOT christian believing!
Their forcing 'christianhood' down our throats is going to have even more of a negative reaction.

Non believers are on the rise as well as Americans living in the USA that are NOT white. Get use to it - those on the extreme right! You are NOT superior to the rest of us!

Hey Jesse! Quit hogging all the popcorn!

Seriously, though, this is exactly the same thing that happened when one of the southern states passed a law about school vouchers and discovered the first group who applied was a Muslim group. They repealed the law rather than allow it.

    The same may happen here.

    1. Exactly! They have a saying about folks who do things like this: They can't think past the end of their nose. Seriously, no thought to possible outcomes, just narrowly focused on their own special needs being met. Incredible.

  6. So, lets see, Tulsa has always been an odd place. So now, instead of just a church, a strip club and a God-college on EVERY street corner, you’re now gonna have the same three entities but also a Satanic Temple on the same block!!! WHAT A REAL-ESTATE BOOM!

Looks like the Monkey Queen moved to the wrong place ??

My kids told me you can be a priest or something for $20 in the flying spaghetti monster church. Can we also erect a giant Fusilli or rigatoni in OK?

I think the fusilli (or a snappy farfalle) would be much more festive than rigatoni.

It is snowingh where I am (not Alaaaaska lol and so pretty out!) I just got back from shopping for food and while in the checkout line I heard that old dong about Africa and "do they know it's Christmas time at all"? And i thought OMG how rude. Ofcourse the intent to rais money for african famine victims is admirable, but how superior to ask if they know it is even Christmas. WHY should they? Do WE know when THEIR celebrations are???

I believe that if you look closely at the lyrics you will discover that the question was about whether or not the starving CHILDREN knew it was Christmas due to the emptiness of their bellies.

The intent was to point out that no one thinks about christmas (or much of anything else) with an empty stomach.

Yep, Definitely not Alaska, it's 30 and raining here. Been warm and messy all week, rain, freezing rain, warm temps. I love it when the jet stream shifts and treats the lower 48 to "our weather". This one sounds like it was a doozy, cold all the way into northern Mexico.

I think that the song was originally intended for famine relief in Ethiopia, which is a Christian nation.

I have a "No Soliciting/No Proselytizing" sign at the end of my very long and remote driveway but the LDS and Joeys still make their way to my door. When I ask if they read the sign and if so why are they at my door proselytizing they always counter with "but we're evangelizing, not proselytizing". So there ya go, had to add "No Evangelizing" to my sign and it seems to be working, although honestly it could be the fact that the last two visits, when I head them coming up the driveway, I ran into the bathroom and undressed down to bra and panties and answered the door that way saying "please forgive me, I was just in the middle of getting dressed...". They didn't stay long although I did catch one of the mormon boys eyeballing my new Victoria Secret panties. These are definitely not your mother's magic underwear, son!

  13. My husband and I know a Satanist. At a party, he needed to leave early, but it was dark outside. He asked my husband and me to walk him to his car. He was afraid of the dark.

At another party, some Wiccan books were being passed around and discussed. He touched the books because he had to pass them, but then I saw him in the kitchen washing his hands. Sh@t, I thought, he believes this stuff!

An old Christian fellow warned me not to take it lightly. I wonder...

I love the fact that we live in America and have the right to freedom and are able to practice which ever religion (or none) that we wish.

And speaking of darkness and terror, get a load of this treasonous TeaBot with his overt threats of secession and armed rebellion against the Federal government

    http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/south-carolina-senate-candidate-itching-refight-civil-war

Bright declared he was ready to “lay down my life” fighting the federal government: “We don’t want to have to use the Second Amendment, we’re a peaceful people. But we will not be the generation that lost our liberty. People ask me all the time, ‘I don’t know what I’ll tell my children, I don’t know what I’ll tell my grandchildren.’ Well, I’m not going to have that problem, because I’m not going to be here. I want to lay down my life for my liberty just like my forefathers did.

This is advocating a violent overthrow of Federal authority. I'm sure that Pimp Daddy Palin and his Granny sidekick will be on stage with him before long

People like this, preaching hate and civil war are exactly the kind of thing that could start another domestic armed conflict.

Religion is not my specialty but I once stayed at a Best Western

Someone clue me in. Many moons ago as an innocent child I did go to Sunday School and took it quiet serious. Also, had friends and interest in religions. I thought the WORST was not "satan", the worst were the "wolves in sheep's clothing". You know like charlatans, blasphemes and Sarah Palin types. If there are good and righteous Christians in American churches why are they not standing up to the satans in their midst taking over what they hold dear?

    Curious

I say bring it on crazy man, but just remember our Government is pretty good at shutting down the crazies. Does Waco ring a bell, how about Ruby Ridge? He acts on his impulses he and anyone assisting him goes down in a rain of gunfire or spends the rest of their rotten lives in jail, just like the Hutaree militia folks and our very own Schaeffer Cox. We won't have another "domestic armed conflict" because the government takes these idiots out when they really start to become a nuisance to our way of life.

Years ago, I read a story about a white supremacist who died and was buried in a Catholic Cemetery. The etching that was "approved" was a cross with his name and date of birth/death. Later, they etched in "extra" lines that formed a swastika, they argued (and failed) by stating the origin of the swastika symbol was from the Hindu "eye of god", which was represented on the forehead.

Actually, the idea behind this post doesn't bother me whatsoever. I don't fear the dead, it's the living that can be the biggest schmucks.
