“Now that’s a woman. They got to where they’re hard to find. Mainly because these boys are waiting til they’re twenty years old before they marry them. Look, you wait til they get to be twenty years old and the the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they’re about fifteen or sixteen and they’ll pick your ducks.”
I am not exactly sure where in the Bible it talks about squirrel and hog hunting, but hey apparently Robertson found it.
I have seen references to this clip all weekend, but this was the most complete version I stumbled across.
The man is pathetic and speaks as if the sexual revolution, pedophilia laws, and common decency just passed his old bearded ass by.
Yeah let's put this idiot on TV, after all people will watch anything these days.

DeleteMaybe Sarah will defend what Phil said without actually watching the video. Oh, wait a minute, Sarah has a young daughter who is almost old enough to carry and bible and get married.
ReplyDeleteHope Sarah doesn't hear this - she'll be selling Piper.
DeleteCreepy Chucky, Sarah's daddy, made SURE she knew all about incest and pedophilia, very early on, so she FOR SURE would support this sick and twisted idea.
DeleteHow many more choice videos of old Phil are there?
DeleteSarah will regurgitate the SOS. She supports Phil, he speaks Gospel. She doesn't need to read or listen to what he is saying. If you don't like what he says, you don't like the Gospel. You are not a believer and you will go straight to burn in hell for all eternity. Sarah has retreated since "Eskimo Bing" but she will return with more woopty doo, meanwhile there is Mini-me who is working overtime.
Young Bristol loves Phil and backs him and Sarah 100%.
But but but...Bristol is 22 years old and not married yet. Oh, I forgot, she also has fornicated multiple times and gave birth to Bastards. Preacher Phil would not accept her as a Christian, and her Bastard Children will not be accepted in Phil's version of the Kingdom of His God. It is hard to be a Palin and a Christian by Phil Robertson's standards.
DeleteI doubt adorable Sadie Robertson has to live by Rev Phil's Christian teachings either. She just has to keep the money flowing and not upset the apple cart.
DeleteHey Pippin, drop those rosary beads, your prayers have been answered! Duck Dude says it's in the Bible, and if it's in the bible, it's the truth.

ReplyDeleteEach day Phil Robertson looks more like Papa Pilgrim.
ReplyDeleteYes, DD supporter Bristol appears to be indoctrinated by the same or similar religious nuts. Something is very wrong in regard to how they train and view youth. Before McCain and others scrubbed the internet there were more revealing social media discussions from the young people that knew and grew up with Bristol. It is still known that 14, 15 to 16 year olds having babies for some was/is a joyous thing in the Valley. Some parents did not seem to put any limits on ages and having babies. Now due to a mistake, Bristol Palin is set up in the world to be someone who is a good Christian and listen to her opinions. She is given credit for handling a blog with name reconition. Much of her opinion is how her bastard is the cutest, best and so on. She also takes on politics. Currently she is advertising for her mother and NewsBusters.
Bristol's opinion 'Who’s on the Naughty List?' is short on words yet very visual. She speaks to not only her fan base but the entire world and internet. Considering her religious training and her support of a person like Phil Robertson it is scary for Tripp that she would allow this image such wide exposure.

DeleteI’m with you. Put him out there and let everybody see his ignorance on full display. He straight up appeals to homophobic and racist people. I think they wish to hide their opinions and this lets us see them more clearly. And it gives the rest of us the ability to avoid them and their sick behavior.
ReplyDeleteSarah's own ride to infamy is based on attaching herself to the most perverse public figures. It is the legacy of Chuckie.

Hey Sarah, your hero says it's time to start lookin' for a hubby for Piper. Don't dawdle Sarah, it's already too late for the other 2 losers. Tick, tock, time flies, you betcha!
ReplyDeleteWillow isn't 20 but she surpassed the pick pocket stage by the time she was 13 or 14. Poor Piper..
DeleteBristol would have gone into this group easily as a teenager. Willow has more spunk to her - would have countered them at some stage as a teenager and Piper - suspect she'd go to them too....don't know enough about her. But, do know that she has been damaged the most by her horrible mother that drug her all over the place as a youngster.
DeleteNone of these kids know what true love is and what signifies 'good parenting'.
Look at the horrible job Bristol is doing w/her little brat!!! She is going to be in big trouble w/him once he hits his teenager years.
Mommy Dearest took Willow to the Duck Family Farm to see if she was a match for one of the duck men, but she was, alas, too old for any of them.
DeleteTonight on A&E: "Dog Dynasty"--the newest hit show on our network!
ReplyDeleteThe group of heavily bearded, devout Christians (and former used car salesmen) scour neighborhoods (maybe even YOURS!) for family pets, to slaughter and nail up on telephone poles.
Tonight's episode: "The Cat That Wouldn't Die"--until Cletis took his turn, that is!
7:00 P.M. Eastern, 4:00 A.M. Central, with repeats sixteen times each day for two weeks...don't miss it!
I chose to concentrate on Christmas instead of "Duck Dynasty" for the last few weeks. But now I've got a moment to find out about this cretin -- who has gone beyond redneck homophobia and racism to promoting illegal or barely legal heterosexual marriage.
ReplyDeleteOl' Phil married a girl of just 16 -- and who knows when they started courting? Perhaps the laws are less strict in Louisiana? Even so, he married a child, and thinks it's such a great idea that everyone should do so: because, after a few short years of maturity, a girl of 20 wants nothing but this jackass's money.
Please tell me what is "Christian" about any of this man's opinions?
I read that he has a college degree -- which is not the same thing as being educated. They paid him to go to class so he'd play football for his backwoods school. Perhaps his brain got scrambled after too many scrimmages; his alcoholism certainly didn't add any brain cells.
Why is he or anyone like him part of our national discourse?
Franklin Graham, let's hear your view on teenage marriage? And the idea that women are only after a man for his money?
And the concept that a wife must be corralled before she has any personal independence, or means of supporting herself, so the husband can control her throughout their lopsided "marriage"?
One assumes that a 16-year-old bride, and, quickly, a teenaged mother, has no chance to get an education or the means to support herself and children? She's tied to the dirty old man all her life -- and knows no better than to think she's lucky.
Sadly, this is "reality" for some people, and a circus sideshow for anyone so addle-brained they'd waste precious time watching this family on tv.
Depriving women of education and life skills is a feature, not a bug. They want them dependent and stupid, preferably with a passel o' kids, to keep them tied to the home.
DeleteYes indeed.
Delete"Duck Dynasty family matriarch Kay Robertson spoke at the “Night of Ducks and Hucks” fundraising event in Monroe, North Carolina Saturday. Sadie Robertson, 16, publicly stood up for her grandfather after his controversial interview in GQ magazine.
Deletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadie_Robertson
Is Sadie Robertson married already, or is she still pick pocketing?
DeleteHardly surprising that Sadie would. She hasn't lived long enough to have any real perspective or fully realize the implications of what her grandfather is saying.
DeleteI'm sure grampa can't wait to break her in.
Delete"Just pray that we stay together as a family, because that's the most important part of the show. That is what 'Duck Dynasty' is about, it's family, it's faith, it's fun," Sadie Robertson said.
Deletewhat a maroon - most people are family without TV fame and fortune.

Delete"She hasn't lived long enough to have any real perspective or fully realize the implications of what her grandfather is saying."
Exactly why her grandfather preaches to "git em while they're young." Before they know better.
If he can't marry her he and grandma sure can use her. She is being trained to handle corporate duck shit.
DeleteSadie is learning to be a flack. It took misogynist Papa Phil 50 years to get around to buying his 13, 14, 15 or 16 year old bride a ring. Now that it will improve his image he is happy to do it. Sadie is spreading the news and that makes it so cute.

ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyL1xha_1aU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
ReplyDeleteHere's the entire speech. My gut tells me that Phil was speaking off-the-cuff in an attempt at clever, self-deprecating humor. That was my impression because he had mentioned that he is 67 and his wife, "Miss Kay" is 64, and that she was 16 when he married her, making him about 19 at the time. (IIRC)
The speech was at Rick Warren's Saddleback Mega-church in southern California.
Just my opinion, but I feel this quote has been pulled out of context of his speech, similar to what the Right Wingers did with Bill Ayers' comment made during a lecture (jokingly) about writing Pres Obama's book(s).
Like 'Our Sarah', I have yet to read the GQ interview, so (unlike Sarah), I'll withhold comment until I do, rather than base my opinion on excerpts and editorials. My own bias against the self-righteous fundie fake Christians is strong enough to assume the worst about 'those people' to assume the worst since there are so many pretenders; however, I do know some wonderful human beings who are strong believers and practice their faith in the way that (IMHO) is the way that Jesus taught others to live. I'll also add that I also know a lot of non-believers, agnostics, and atheists (along with some who practice other religions) who are just as honest, sincere, humble, caring, etc as the most faithful followers of Christianity.
The video G posted wouldn't play for some reason, so I looked it up on YouTube, in case someone else wants to check it out. I thought it was worthwhile to watch the whole thing since I'm off this week --- at 26 minutes, probably the longest I've watched in a long time.
A Safe and Happy New Year to you, G, and all the folks here at IM, even you too, also, Krusty.
Bristol will have another Leave Phil Alone support post any minute. Sarah is still recovering from her wild Christmas that can not be shared with her fans.
Deletefigured Scarah was off birthin' another baby.
Delete“After 50 years of marriage Papaw Phil finally gave Mamaw Kay a wedding ring for Christmas,” granddaughter Sadie Robertson tweeted Wednesday.
DeleteThe girl probably has the number of years wrong, but if they've been married for 50 years and he's 67, then he was 17 when they married. She's 63, so she was 13...... bwahahahaha and pregnant.
Back in those days I think you could get married at 14 in La. At least, that was the talk in Texas at the time. They may have lied about her age if she was 13 or they got parental approval.
DeleteAnd of course, now to the family and his supporters he's "Rev." Phil! He "preaches" at their local church and other places. That is where these videos are coming from. Look at him waving around the bible.
ReplyDeleteHe has no theological training. He isn't educated in theology (obvious) and is just a world-class bullshitter. No requirements to be a "Rev.". Just be an asshole - speak up real loud and there you go.
Makes me sick.
And I'll tell you who else is a "Rev." Rafael Cruz the elder. I'd like to know where his theology degree is from. Bet he paid $10 got it in the mail. Cut from the same cloth those two.
Assholes.
I think that Phil is just a lay preacher/church elder/speaker-for-hire. His (unbearded) son who is not on the show is the preacher of their small church. Sorry I'm too lazy to look for links right now, but I'm getting primed for College Football games, and I am completely over the fake war on Christmas and this made-up duck nuttery. It's just a filler for 24/7 teabagger poutrage cable programming and gossip rags due to the lack of real news happening lately. We need an Elvis sighting or UFO abduction in Arkansas or Texas to knock these duckers off the top of the fold and to, at least, change the subject to another stupid topic.

DeleteI didn't see anything bratty about Tripp saying "stupid cat." It looks like all are having a good time! And dang, Levi sure is a handsome young man. Sunny is a knock out! They sure do love Breeze and Tripp. Watching this little clip of family fun makes me smile.
DeleteOh, and btw, calling out "stupid cat" when the cat blocks his puck is no where near as awaful as calling his aunt a "faggot." The latter was said out of anger and frustration, Big difference.
1) Shows little regard for the cat -- was it hurt?
Delete2) Displays Palin proclivity for putting the blame on others.
3) He could easily have said, "Whoops" or "Next time" or "Aw, shucks."
His bad luck was not the fault of the cat!
IF he said faggot. Sounded like fuck it to me...
DeleteTripp is a cute kid. I don't know he has much of a chance. Remember who his mommy dearest is and how she is raising him. Someone is investing in Duck Dynasty children's gear for him. It's heartening to see Levi engaged like that with both kids, focused on an age-appropriate activity they can both be involved with. (As opposed to, say, using him as a prop, or including him in utterly age-inappropriate activities like pedicures.) I agree, "stupid cat," is tame: I've been known to say "stupid cat" to my own lovely creature, whom I love dearly. And the cat was clearly not hurt. A nasty kid might have made a move to swat the cat or something -- Tripp did nothing of the sort, he just got his ball back. At least in this one short snippet, he's an okay kid in my book

ReplyDeleteIsrael Expected To Fund All Abortions For Women Aged 20-33
Israeli health officials said Monday that the *state* is expected to start funding abortions next year for women aged 20-33 regardless of circumstance, Haaretz reported.
The new funding was approved as part of a state-subsidized "health basket," according to Haaretz, and will make room for 6,300 more women to receive a state-funded abortion at a cost of 16 million shekels, the equivalent of $4.6 million. Eventually, health officials want to extend funding to women up to age 40.

Right-wing biblical illiterates would be shocked by Jesus’ teachings …if they ever picked up a Bible
ReplyDelete...The Right has successfully rebranded the brown-skinned liberal Jew, who gave away free healthcare and was pro-redistributing wealth, into a white-skinned, trickledown, union-busting conservative, for the very fact that an overwhelming number of Americans are astonishingly illiterate when it comes to understanding the Bible. On hot-button social issues, from same-sex marriage to abortion, biblical passages are invoked without any real understanding of the context or true meaning. It’s surprising how little Christians know of what is still the most popular book to ever grace the American continent.
More than 95 percent of U.S. households own at least one copy of the Bible. So how much do Americans know of the book that one-third of the country believes to be literally true? Apparently, very little, according to data from the Barna Research group. Surveys show that 60 percent can’t name more than five of the Ten Commandments; 12 percent of adults think Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife; and nearly 50 percent of high school seniors think Sodom and Gomorrah were a married couple. A Gallup poll shows 50 percent of Americans can’t name the first book of the Bible, while roughly 82 percent believe “God helps those who help themselves” is a biblical verse.
So, if Americans get an F in the basic fundamentals of the Bible, what hope do they have in knowing what Jesus would say about labor unions, taxes on the rich, universal healthcare, and food stamps? It becomes easy to spread a lie when no one knows what the truth is.
The truth, whether Republicans like it or not, is not only that Jesus a meek and mild liberal Jew who spoke softly in parables and metaphors, but conservatives were the ones who had him killed. American conservatives, however, have morphed Jesus into a muscular masculine warrior, in much the same way the Nazis did, as a means of combating what they see as the modernization of society.

ReplyDeleteor 11.
"You got to marry these girls when they’re about fifteen or sixteen."
ReplyDeleteHe was 19 when he married a 16 year old. This is the same man that saw happy, happy black people working in the La fields. What he sees is what he knows and what he teaches.
“I’ve never met Phil. But I was raised by a Phil Robertson,” the student wrote.
ReplyDelete“My Phil Robertson told me that I was an asshole for being so selfish to come out of the closet to my mother,” he wrote. “My Phil Robertson told me that my boyfriend will never be welcomed to his house, as if he were diseased. My Phil Robertson threatened my life because I had the audacity to be who I am.”
The student said he realized he was gay at age 13, but had already been attracted to other boys at least five years, and he recounts coming to terms with his sexuality in a hostile environment.
He “prayed to God to heal me of my sickness” after reading a Bible verse that declared homosexuality a sin, and his spiritual pain caused him to stop believing in God.
But the student said he eventually regained his faith and came to terms with his sexuality, and he’s considered becoming a minister.
“Gay people, more often than not, throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to religion,” he wrote. “But we have a good reason. We’ve been scarred. Religion has damaged us. And I try to share with them the light I have seen in the Episcopal Church. But every time I get close to a breakthrough, something happens that brings out the worst in people.”
“One year it was Chick-fil-a,” the student wrote. “This year it’s Phil Robertson.”
He said that the TV star’s comments has given his family, friends and neighbors a license to broadcast their own homophobic views.
“Thanks to Phil, I now know where everyone in my family stands on the issue of whether or not I’m a human being,” the student wrote. “I even saw a ‘friend’ of mine post something about how gay people can’t be Christians. Wow. Not only will they keep us from having equal rights, but they’ll keep us from equal salvation. We can’t just be second-class citizens. We have second-class souls.”
The student said Robertson’s comments, and the ensuing controversy over the cable network’s two-week decision to suspend the show’s star, had caused real harm to him and others.
“Phil claims to love everyone, and I have to believe that he has the best of intentions for saying what he said,” the student wrote. “But he must realize the damage that those words do to people like me.”

DeletePhil Robertson married Miss Kay when she was 16. The legal age to get married in Louisiana is 18, so her parents must have given their consent for their daughter to marry a guy who has bragged about being a drunk, drugged and into rock and roll. Too bad, Bristol and Willow are old maids by Phil's Philosophy.
ReplyDeleteI always heard it was 14. That was back in the day, no doubt they changed it to 18. When?
DeleteAnd did she squeeze out a baby duck dude four months after the weddin? Just curious.
DeletePhil has said this on the show. No one should be surprised. He's an old curmudgeon. I don't know why we care what he says.
ReplyDeleteHe's not a curmudgeon. He's an asshole.

He could be the sweetest things I've ever heard, why would I tune in to such ugly when I could be looking at this:

A and E opened a can of worms by keeping this show on it's lineup. Any normal parent who sees and hears this bullshit and isn't offended, deserves raising the grandkids from these teen idiots who can't control their urges in the name of a holy book. Does Pastor Duck sponsor trips to Singapore and Malasia for teen brides? Or are they saving that for "ratings week"?
ReplyDeleteBut there's folks who Love it and Live it, like The Heaths/Palins. If Rev Duck Dude says God said it, then it's God's word, right?
O/T for those looking for a best seller book. The "BOOK" is now $11.49 and it's in the top 2215th place. lol
ReplyDeleteDelightful! It certainly doesn't suggest that those who were 'disappointed' by what wasn't under the Christmas tree hurriedly set out to 'right' matters. Ha.
DeleteGryphon, please look at this petition and see if you can get it more publicity. It is not mine. I started one but don,t have many Facebook friends or followers on twitter so found one that got more signatures. We need to prove to Sara that she can't have so much power that she can get bashir fired for critizing her yet get that duck person rehired for insulting gays and blacks. http://www.change.org/petitions/msnbc-rehire-martin-bashir-and-apologize-for-urging-his-resignation?share_id=QikcvFwzbV&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition
