Pope says he is not offended by being called a Marxist. Oh the Right Wing is going to poop themselves over this one!

Sticks and stones bitchez!
Courtesy of CNN:

Pope Francis responded to critics who call his stance on capitalism Marxist, saying in a new interview that the political and economic philosophy is flat "wrong."

"Marxist ideology is wrong," the Pope told the Italian newspaper La Stampa in an interview published on Saturday. "But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended.”

Earlier this month, the conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh blasted the pontiff, calling his latest major writing, an apostolic exhortation called Evangelii Gaudium, "pure Marxism."

"It's sad because this Pope makes it very clear he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth," Limbaugh said.

Pope Francis told La Stampa that, “there is nothing in the Exhortation that cannot be found in the social Doctrine of the Church.”

The 50,000-word statement calls for church reform and castigates elements of modern capitalism.

I swear that Pope Francis is going to cause Rush Limbaughs heart to give out if he keeps making these statements. (And if he does by the way I will be one of the first to call for naming him a saint once he passes. I know, right?)

Do you know who must be secretly digging what this Pope is saying like probably no other person on the planet?

This guy.

12:51 You do notice that our wonderful POTUS is not saying a word as to Pope Francis. He doesn't have to - they speak pretty much the same and people throughout the world know it. Love it, love it!

That's MR. PRESIDENT to you, 12:51 PM while the Queen Heifer is still standing on the street corner in her hooker attire begging for nickels and dimes. Your point?

I can't believe I'm writing these words. I adore the new Pope. Baby steps but I really think he is going to turn it around.

I like how President Obama is wearing his wedding ring in that pic, unlike a certain half term quitting governor.

  5. I like the guy too, but as you make out in early posts about him gryphen, caution is still advised. He says all the right things to get liberals hearts fluttering, but any concrete change in the way the church operates is yet to come, and this could still all be about damage control. After all, when Francis is making the sweet nothings, it's difficult to visualize some priest ass raping a barely pubescent boy.

Actually, for the first time in my 56 years, I think this Pope is quite serious.

This Pope is classy and a real diplomat something that Rush isn't. I'm not Catholic but I like this Pope and I detest Rushie Big Boy with a foul mouth!

I like this Pope too and I'm a fallen away Catholic! Love the support he is giving our wonderful POTUS. It's driving the Republicans nuts....love adding fuel to their fire!

Rush Limbaugh is the worst and is not helping the Republican party at all! The majority of them seem to have no clue. Idiots!

I think the current pope is simply a PR stunt from the church. The catholic church is the largest corporation in the world and they are famous for breaking children and raping boys. I guess this guy can give some hope to the brainwashed folks that subscribe to their doctrine, but really, it doesn't affect most of us.

He's such a handsome man, so smart, compassionate and has a knowing smile that can light up a room. Of course he's digging what the Pope is saying.
As a former Catholic, I do have to say that I like this new Pope, he seems to have his priorities straight, but until he does something BIG to change the way the Church handles certain things (Pedophile Priests, Women's roles, Clergy being married, helping the poor, etc), to me, it's all fluff.

Anita, I am also former and I have been slow to think positively about him.I am at least now beginning to listen to what this Pope is saying and I am enjoying how he is really upsetting the status quo. Nothing he says or does will ever bring me back but I hope he will shake things up severely.
Also, I hope he doesn't become untimely dead.

Did he really say, "But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended”? So he's not going to be offended by the insults that Palin and Limbaugh hurl at him. That's going to drive them nuts (well more nuts).

The President ignores what they say which is good and he should, but I love the "I don't feel offended" comment. It so puts those hateful muckrakers in their place.

Olivia, I also fear an untimely death since he appears to be cleaning house in the church and that will not be appreciated by the ruling hierarchy presently there :(

I agree. No matter what people prefer to think, the Pope does not run the Church. He is a figurehead elected by cardinals who hold the power. The politics and behind the scene goings on would put the US Congress and the Mafia to shame.
