Republicans final tactic to punish Democrats is to throw a 30 hour long tantrum at the tax payers expense.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Senate Republicans made plans Wednesday to stage a more than 30-hour talkathon on the chamber floor to protest Democrats’ triggering of the “nuclear option” last month.

The GOP protest, which could extend into the weekend, will throw a wrench in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) hopes of wrapping up legislative business for 2013 as soon as possible.

The Republicans aimed to push a final vote on Nina Pillard, one of President Obama’s picks for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, until the wee hours of the morning.

Senate Republicans planned to hold the floor throughout the night, speaking out against Reid’s use of the nuclear option. Reid invoked the controversial tactic before Thanksgiving to strip the minority party’s power to filibuster judicial and executive branch nominees. The change did not affect Supreme Court picks.

“When you blow up the Senate rules, there has to be a consequence,” one Republican senator said.

“We’ll stretch this into the weekend if need be,” the lawmaker added.

A GOP source said that so far 36 senators had signed up for hourlong speaking slots on the floor, which would tie up business until early Friday morning.

Seriously?

So a bunch of old guys are going to stay up way past there bedtimes, while spending taxpayer money to keep the lights on in the Senate, so that they can stamp their feet and bitch about the fact that Harry Reid and the Democrats took away their right to sabotage the government?

They did this to themselves by being obstructionists, refused to accept the possibility that the Democrats would reach their limit with GOP shenanigans, and now are acting like three year olds ins response to the fact that they lost their leverage.

And all this does is to illustrate the point that the Democrats and the President were making that these assholes are unreasonable and irresponsible when it comes to doing their jobs.

Okay is there anybody who has ANY respect for these idiots anymore?

The level of immaturity of these guys is staggering! This sort of 'acting out' in any other situation would land them in hot water. Can you even imagine behavior like this in the corporate world? Their asses would be toast! It's a dismal and deeply embarassing time in political history and the ONLY person who is acting like an adult is our president. The GOP House and Senate are an abysmal excuse for lawmakers. Shame on them.

John Boehner: Conservative Groups Have 'Lost All Credibility' (VIDEO)

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Thursday held firm in his criticism of outside conservative groups after a war of words Wednesday, questioning their credibility and saying they've gone "over the line" for attacking a budget deal brokered by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA).

"Frankly I think they're misleading their followers. I think they're pushing our members in places where they want to be. And frankly I just think they've lost all credibility," he told reporters at his weekly press conference Thursday. "There comes a point when people step over the line. When you criticize something and you have no idea what you're criticizing, it undermines your credibility."

If it came from anyone but Boehner, it would make a lick of sense. They were perfectly fine when they were his "tools". The entire Congress lost all credibility the day President Obama first won the election.

Gryphen, did you see this? UNBELIEVABLE this is happening to women in the 21st Century!

On Wednesday, the Michigan State Senate passed a bill that requires a woman to purchase separate health insurance prior to getting an abortion. The bill passed by an overwhelming majority, 27-11, and had already passed the Michigan House by a margin of 62-47. This is pretty much the same bill that had previously passed last year along similar lines but was actually vetoed by Republican Governor Rick Snyder. Therefore, a petition was signed by thousands of voters to bring it back up to a vote. Due to the petition signing, as long as it passed both chambers, it would become law without the need for a governor’s signature.

One lawmaker, Democratic State Sen. Gretchen Whitmer, used her time on the floor on Wednesday to not only express her strong opinions against this bill, but to point out that this, in effect, is ‘rape insurance.’ Her argument is that a woman who becomes pregnant via rape should have bought special insurance for such a tragic event. Below is video of her speaking:

Yes, Michigan is now back in the dark ages thanks to the GOP. The insurance companies will make more money and women will be paying for it in more ways than one. The good old keep the government out of my business GOP, are now interfering with private insurance companies, but that's ok, because it only involves women.

Next on their agenda, take away our right to vote!

Republican Senators went through with their plan on Wednesday and held up business in the Senate by debating to delay the vote on one of President Obama’s judicial nominees. In this instance, the nominee was Nina Pillard, whom President Obama nominated to be on the D.C. federal appeals court. Eventually, after 1 AM ET on Thursday, Pillard was confirmed by a 51-44 vote.

The GOP has indicated that they plan to continue this for the other ten nominees, thus bringing the Senate to a virtual standstill for the rest of the session before the Christmas break. By Senate rules, judicial and lesser cabinet appointees allow up to eight hours of debate. Other cabinet positions, like Secretary of Homeland Security, can allow up to 30 hours. This is known as post-cloture debate time, where the vote is imminent but Senators are still allowed to discuss it. Normally, Senate leaders would agree to allow the debate to occur during recess. However, things haven’t been normal for a while on Capitol Hill.

This is all around Senate Republicans throwing a temper tantrum due to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) finally exercising the ‘nuclear option’ and eliminating the 60-vote filibuster rule. They had spent years obstructing the President’s nominees, for no real reason than to just do it, and now are upset that the option was taken away from them. It wasn’t like Reid had done it on a whim, either. He kept giving Minority Leader Mitch McConnell the benefit of the doubt that things would change, and that they would eventually allow nominees to go through. When McConnell kept the obstruction going, Reid had no choice to go through with the move, otherwise the President would have nobody filling vital roles in his cabinet or on judicial benches.

Typical "faux" outrage. We're getting screwed on this budget dill and these fucks pretend to fall on their sword as if they're getting screwed. Unemployment extension is a must or else vote no. Patty Murray looks lost. Hope one of those old fools breitbart it about 3 AM. How stupid can these people get? Remember the republican autopsy ? Yeah right, by the way where's Mrs. Palin?

I wonder about Patty Murray too - the guy took the lead on this Budget and she allowed him to - or he allowed her to speak. That is what it felt like.

Dems need to get balls and mimic the actions and doings of the Republicans. They need to stop being nice and accommodating! People will vote in more Dems if they become more hard nosed!

Nail their asses, Dems!!! The majority will support you - don't worry about that!

If they're going to behave like two-year-olds (G, I think you gave them too much credit by comparing them to three-year-olds), I would much prefer that they either hold their breath until they turn blue or go into the backyard and eat worms.

McConnell is such a lying piece of crap. At best a chicken hawk at worst a closeted gay man that seeks to take the rights away from other gay people.

This Budget thing is pissing me off. You have both the Dems and Repubs saying it's a bipartisan deal yet there are horrible things being done to the poor and middle class..i.e. unemployment benefits. Then, MSNBC is now talking about how the Dems are going to have to fight them for all they lost in the Budget after the first of the year.

I'm truly beginning to think these folks are playing us big time. The Repubs go after the Teabaggers to open things up for their reelections in 2014. The Dems didn't do a damned thing except put us back in the same place we were - that we're going to have to start fighting just as we have always been. They set up the fight themselves - both parties! Pure bullshit.

I don't believe there's anything in the Senate Rules that require members of the opposing party to listen to these clowns--I like the idea of all the Democrats going home at 5:00, having a few beers, maybe sending selfies to their Republican colleagues, then showing up the next morning well-rested and ready to go.
