Okay that was brilliant.
Chris Christie has talked constantly about his deep love of Bruce Springsteen so this is going to really cause him some emotional discomfort.
I think more and more it is becoming impossible to believe that he was not the architect of the George Washington Bridge closures.
The only question is will this ONLY torpedo his chances at a 2016 Republican nomination, or will he also soon face impeachment in New Jersey?
oh please oh please oh please let him be impeached !!! I love my state (NJ) and he has been the worst govenor ever !
ReplyDeletePoll: Bridge Scandal Hasn't Changed Public Opinion Of Christie
DeleteThe George Washington Bridge scandal hasn't changed voters' opinions of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), a new poll released Wednesday afternoon found.
The NBC News/Marist poll found that 69 percent of those surveyed said their opinion of Christie hasn't changed. Just 18 percent said they like Christie less because of the scandal while 5 percent said they like him more.
The poll also found that 44 percent of those surveyed believe Christie is telling the truth about the scandal while just 33 percent said he is not. Twenty-three percent said they were unsure.
In terms of favorables, the poll found that 29 percent of registered voters have a favorable view of Christie while 32 percent have an unfavorable view. Thirty-nine percent said they were unsure.
A Quinnipiac poll released earlier on Wednesday found New Jersey voters still strongly approve of the job Christie is doing as governor.
The NBC/Marist poll was conducted between Jan. 12 and 14 among 1,200 adults and 1,039 registered voters. For the total sample of national adults it had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points. For registered voters the margin of error was 3 percentage points.

America disappoints me yet again...............
Delete"69 percent of those surveyed said their opinion of Christie hasn't changed"
DeleteI haven't read the specifics on the poll, but I wonder if some of those people had a negative opinion to begin with. In that case, their opinions would NOT change, but it doesn't mean that they think highly of him.
If that is not the case, then they should be ashamed of themselves!
I already stated this the last post that predicted Christie's chance at the GOP ticket was over.
DeleteNope. If he wants it and they want him, he'll be on the ticket.
Excellent performance art. Thank you Gryph for posting it!

"Gotta-Take-a-Leak-Gate". They were great together.
ReplyDeleteWhen I watched this video last night I LOL'd. This skit with the Boss is a figurative stab in Christie's raisin-shriveled heart.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Fallon is REALLY good at mimicry, isn't he?
It's amazing to watch Republicans publically continue to support their guy, Chris Christie, and actually think he could still run for POTUS and win!
ReplyDeleteAll the while, Christie is being caught in his lies with the main investigations just getting started. I really think he and his 'team' are in mass trouble.
“The governor has absolutely and blatantly not told the truth about what was going on in his office,” Maddow said.
DeleteMaddow said that Christie’s argument that his administration was unaware of the four-day closures, which were ordered by his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, was undermined by an email Kelly received on Sept. 11 from state director of departmental relations Christine Genovese Renna. Renna mentions in the email that “Evan” — possibly meaning Christie aide Evan J. Ridley, who records show makes $52,000 a year — had been contacted by Mark Sokolich, mayor of Fort Lee, complaining about the traffic nightmare happening in his town as a result.
Sokolich also mentioned at the time that there was sentiment among his constituents that it was politically-motivated. (Sokolich later said he believed Christie when the governor told him that was not the case.)
“That means that during the shutdown, three people who work in the governor’s office are emailing about the ongoing bridge lane shutdown and the disaster that it’s causing and the allegation that it is politically motivated,” Maddow said. “There’s no discussion whatsoever about there being some traffic study, which the governor says was the prevailing belief about what was happening with that bridge.”
Maddow also pointed out that Renna snidely refers to Sokolich as “the fine Mayor” [sic] in the email, and does not appear to need to explain to Kelly who he is.
“The governor’s top staff were discussing the shutdown — the effect of it, the allegations of political retribution, and the mayor of Fort Lee in provocative terms while the shutdown was still happening,” Maddow explained. “Despite Governor Christie’s denials, it seems like something was going on between the governor’s office and that specific mayor, that specific man. And lots of people who work for Governor Christie and who work in the governor’s office and the governor’s inner circle were in discussions about that shutdown while it was happening.”

There doesn't seem to be a huge outrage among the people of NJ.
Deletemost still don't think christie is a bully.
Fucking idiots to have elected him; this is just desserts then.
11:49am
DeleteYou are correct. He is still polling at 55% positive! Lotta cognitive dissonance going on in Jersey!
Kind of awesome. I wonder if this is going to permanently trash his political hopes. Nobody minds if a leader gets pissed off occasionally, but allowing the general public to be massively inconvenienced? And then laughing about it? Not. Okay.
ReplyDeleteIvyfree
I don't care what any of these pundits say.....he would never make it thru the southern primaries. He is no threat for 2016 and he was their best shot nationally.
DeleteNail on head Sharon.
DeleteSheesh
Those two did an outstanding job and the video is being played/shown everywhere today! Love me some Jimmy Fallon!!!
ReplyDeleteYes. It is the best of the best. Forgot her name, but she was spinning this as a help for Christie, I think it was CNN.
DeleteLawmakers Hire Ex-Blagojevich Prosecutor To Investigate Bridge Scandal
ReplyDeleteThe New Jersey General Assembly hired former federal prosecutor Reid Schar on Wednesday to serve as a special counsel to its committee dedicated to investigating September's lane closures on the George Washington Bridge.
Schar is a partner at Jenner & Block LLP, where he focuses on white collar defense and investigations, according to a statement from Assembly Democrats announcing the move. Schar was previously an assistant U.S. attorney. In that role, he was the lead investigator and prosecutor in the corruption trials of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

OMG that was fantastic and so funny! Thanks for posting, Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteWonder how many people in the Fort Lee traffic jam were cursing the extra cup of coffee they had before leaving home.
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than having to take a leak, while stuck in traffic.
I laughed my ass off with this one..it doesn't take a genius to know how Bruce now feels about his #1fan. What a perfect way to give that bully the finger....masterful!
ReplyDeleteThe bridge, he might slither out of this somehow, however if he is shown to have misappropriated funds meant for Sandy relief ,a political scandal will be the least of his worries.
ReplyDeleteUnless his former employees are given immunity and testify against him, it might be difficult to make a concrete connection between the incident and Christie. He IS a former prosecutor and, presumably, cautious about putting anything in writing that could potentially be incriminating.
DeleteHowever, the federal funds designated for the Sandy recovery come with a lot of strings and red tape attached. There is likely a paper trail that any decent attorney or accountant should be able to easily follow. The bridge scandal (and yes, it IS a real scandal) might hurt his political career, but playing games with the Sandy funds just might send him to prison.
ReplyDelete"Jimmy Fallon is REALLY good at mimicry, isn't he?"

Yep, he sounded more like The Boss than The Boss did.
Has SNL done any sketches about Bridgegate yet?
Darrell Issa Commits A Treasonous High Crime By Leaking Sensitive Obamacare Documents
ReplyDelete...Darrell Issa is leaking sensitive Obamacare documents to consultants that he refuses to name. Even more troubling is the fact that he will not disclose what the individuals intend to do with this information. Rep. Issa is not clearly not securing important documents, and making those documents available to parties that he refuses to identify. Given his partisan bent, it is a safe guess that this is all part of an attempt to destroy Obamacare.
Twice last week someone left sensitive documents unattended in an unlocked room that is accessible to the public. Why do you think someone would do that?
http://www.politicususa.com/2014/01/15/darrell-issa-commits-treasonous-high-crime-leaking-sensitive-obamacare-documents.html
I so wish someone will finally hand Darrell Issa his ass on a platter. I so want that buffoon out of office. He gives criminals a bad rep.
DeleteThis has got to chafe his thighs (more than usual, I mean). Brooooooce was Christie's Idol growing up. He had all his albums and posters on the walls of his bedroom. Remember how he gushed when Brooooooooce shook his hand and gave him a man hug? He was wearing three of those "protect your manhood" pads AND two Depends duct taped together. Guess if Christie had to take a leak it wouldn't have been a problem. He was in a State Police Heeeelycopter while those dem voting Ft Lee folks were stuck on the bridge.
ReplyDeleteNow Fallon and Brooooce gave him the middle finger. The least of his worries, considering it ain't over by a long shot. The ad agency getting double because his mug and family appeared in the "Stronger than the Storm", and now there's talk of money earmarked for the victims not getting where it was supposed to.
He'll run again, I'm sure he'll get an endorsement from Sarah.
SNL hasn't been 'live' since Bridgegate happened, I don't think. But, Bill Maher is back this Friday and I can only imagine what he'll have to say. This stuff just writes itself. SNL writers could just take the week off!
