Melissa Harris-Perry chokes up while delivering on air apology.

As I said before Harris-Perry did NOTHING for which she needs to apologize.

Nor did anything she said deserve the kind of hateful backlash that she received from those on the Right. And am I the only who thinks that.

MHP is of mixed race herself, and an educator, how anybody could accuse her of being insensitive to this child or mean spirited toward the Romney family is beyond me.

I agree 100%! It pained me to watch this. I love her and she did nothing to apologize for. I'm so sick of the right. We sure need to get out the vote this year...SO important.

I love how the right wing has gone crazy over this, how can you go after a child? Where was the outrage when someones daughter was called a slut by Limbaugh? When Romney was asked about it, he said he wouldn't have used those words. Would he have called her a harlot? Where was the outrage when Newt said that poor children should be janitors to get a work ethic that they don't get from their parents, who incidentally are working two or three low paying jobs. Where is the outrage over the children losing food stamps or whose parents aren't getting extended unemployment benefits so they can eat? What about those not able to attend Head Start? There are a lot of things to be outraged about. What Melissa and her panel did wasn't one of them.

I absolutely agree. There was no reason to apologize in the first place, but let me just say this: No one, and I mean no one, apologizes with more sincerity than the on air anchors on MSNBC. Ed Shultz, Keith Oberman, Martin Bashir, Rachel Maddow, and Melissa Harris Perry.

None of that "If I offended anyone with my words, I'm sorry but..." bullshit. And none of that ignorance from all shows on Fox and Rush Limbaugh "Iz dat hole fixed yet daddy? Iz dat hole fixed yet daddy? Why isn't dat hole fixed yet, Daddy" (mocking a sitting president's child, over and over again. Sarah, shuck and jive, I could go on and on.
She's apologized, the appropriate response from the entire Romney family, if they had an ounce of class, would be a public "Apology Accepted". Especially after the Tagg Romney affair and Queen Ann's royal smirk.
Unfortunately, it's far from over, but it should be.

Yeah, I made a HUGE unforgivable mistake,by responding to a comment posted yesterday, and early in the thread. Bishop Mitt of Staples DID accept her apology. He must have had an "off" day, because it's so not like him.

Any word on when Ann and Tagg will follow suit. oh omniscient one?

I don't think she should have apologized....Bill O'Reilly says alot of messed up things, never apologizes....Rush Limbaugh emphasizes he said it and what....if you look at Fox news clips on YouTube, thier are several real racist comments made, no apologies. Did Lewis Zimmerman apologize to the Martin family. Did the US government apologize to African American or oops my bad black people.

But to call YOU, of all people, a nasty liar, Lynne, lol... someone's got a severe rash on their lady private parts from poor hygiene and/or general butt-hurt from piss-poor book sales. Yeah, * I * can be nasty to the ignorant bagger-fuckwads, but Lynne is always tactful. And we're both truthful. So, FUCK YOU, you no-brain Palin ass kisser bot.

Just because hearing the truth hurts your little feelings doesn't make it less true, you disturbed piece of shit.

BTW, did you spend any time with over the holidays with your two sons from your disposable family, Chucktard, Junior? You do remember the kids that you dumped along with their Mother? That was your "first" family, including your wife that you were married and living with when you knocked up that skank that you worked with and then married the slut so you Heath-Palin hypocrites would have a child born in wedlock, instead of the usual bastards that the women in your family are known for "pooping out", per your pedo-daddy. Family values, Heath-Palin style. Keep up your comments, you pervy Palin kiddy-diddlers, and we'll continue confronting you sorry asses with the truth.

MSNBC needs to grow a pair and start supporting the people they hire. All these forced apologies & resignations are making them look pathetic and weak kowtowing to th RW lunatic fringe. I don't think Martin or MPH should have apologized at all.

The Romney family is a political artifact. Mitt may not remember but he ran for president. To put out a photo of himself with all his grandkids and without comment is phony. Why not announce and then have a pic of the happy parents and baby and granny and gramps. The blue shirt, pink shirt thing is creepy. By the way, why is that baby boy wearing pink? Hmmmmm?

It was two of her guests who made inappropriate comments. One started singing the song about which thing is not like the others, and the other one said the picture was the face of the Republican party. If the segment was pre-recorded, then she was wrong to not delete it. However, I think it is shown live. In which case, MHP did nothing wrong or insensitive. This is just one more example of how the right wing media is permitted to constantly broadcast lies, hate, threats and exaggerations without ever being called on it. On the other hand, MSNBC and MHP are tarred and feathered for saying anything that could possibly be considered offensive by only the thinnest-skinned of people.

Fox knew what this traitor had been saying and writing and yet STILL welcomed him as an expert commentator, as they do many people who offer nothing but lies and malice.

Am sorely disappointed that she felt the need to apologize..........The Mormon Church needs to apologize for perpetrating the hate campaign of its leaders against persons of color........and to the child for helping create an atmosphere of racism........and to the world for the hoax it has lived........simple as that.

Gryphon, I have to disagree. She brought up the issue of the black child only so she could poke fun at Romney's perceived feelings about race. Just because she "is of mixed race herself, and an educator" doesn't give her a immunity to stupidity.

I wouldn't call for her to be fired, nor am I among the whiners who are trying to score political points on this--she erred, she apologized--end of story. No need to deny her mistake.
