Toronto Mayor Rob Ford becomes first person to sign up for 2014 municipal election after declaring himself "the best mayor the city has ever had."

Courtesy of the National Post:

Mayor Rob Ford became the first person to sign up for the 2014 municipal election race on Thursday, and quickly turned combative when asked how he would respond to questions about last year’s crack scandal on the campaign trail.

“Let them talk about whatever they want. I’m going to stick to my record. I want to see someone get a union deal like I did, get rid of the taxes like I have,” Mayor Ford told reporters at city hall.

Touting his attendance record at council meetings, campaign promises fulfilled and his leadership during crises such as the recent ice storm, Mr. Ford declared himself “the best mayor that this city has ever had.”

Is it wrong that I love this guy?

I mean I would not want him running MY city, but for political entertainment you really cannot beat Rob Ford.

I just wish OUR crazy politicians were more like him, more damaging to themselves, and less damaging to the country.

Boy Canada universal health care AND Rob Ford? How'd you get so lucky?

  1. The insanity of getting "rid of taxes" says much more about this man than any other stupid he has done - amazing that folks so want the city to provide services - but do not want to pay for those services - I will never understand that mentality - do they want the world of 1800 cities - no clean water, no sewerage, the streets full of garbage and disease.

As for hating on the unions - that, more than anything else has led to the massive income gap between the rich and the rest. Maybe the Pope can explain it to him.

Some of these people seem to think that such 1800 conditions would only apply to the poor people and would not apply to them. It's just amazing how dumb eligible voters can be.

Young Viewers Avoid Fox News Like the Plague as Ratings Drop 30%

Fox News’ attempt to stop the flood of young viewers from fleeing the network failed as FNC lost the most young viewers of any cable news network in 2013.

TVNewser reported on the big drop in young people tuning into Fox News, “Compared to 2012, Fox News was down -5% in total viewers and -19% in the A25-54 demographic in total day. In primetime, the network was down -14% in total viewers and -30% in the demo, the steepest decline among younger viewers of all the cable news networks.”

2012 was a presidential election year, so all three cable news networks lost viewers in 2013. The difference is that at Fox News this problem has been going on for years. The move of Megyn Kelly to 9 PM was supposed to attract young viewers, but Kelly suffered a drop 23% in young viewership compared to Sean Hannity’s 2012 ratings. Bill O’Reilly is down 23% with younger viewers, and Hannity is down 16%.

Fox knows that this is a serious problem. It’s the reason why they shook up their primetime schedule. The reality is that Fox News has the oldest audience in all television. The average age of a Fox News viewer is 65 years old. FNC can remain the ratings leader in the short term future as long as the senior set keeps tuning in, but what happens when there aren’t enough young people tuning in to replace the elderly audience?

If Fox News fails to build a future audience, they will go extinct.

    1. 9pm? Prime evening shows are on from 8pm - 11pm. They really think a blonde bigot is going to attract the young viewers away from entertainment to watch news?

Get real. 10pm news if for the old people that go to bed early. 11pm is for everyone else. You'd have a better shot from 5pm - 8pm as long as those young people aren't going OUT to eat. 7pm, right before primetime starts is their best bet.

Of course, that's only timing. That won't help content.

    G. said, "Is it wrong that I love this guy"?

Like the song says, "how can it be wrong, if it feels so right".

I suppose if the people vote him in again, he could win. Whatever his personal issues are, he sure has taken the focus off U.S. Republicans for a while. U.S. media just love him.

He was funny for about 4 minutes in my circles and maybe not that long for a few residents of Toronto who do not support his embarrassing antics. His fans will elevate him to a star level equal to the yuppie ducks currently being considered for sainthood in our own backwoods population or the pathetic mrs palin.

If he wins reelection the people of Toronto deserve to have their hard earned tax dollars squandered. Wish ol' Cruz would seize this 'open door' and run up there to challenge him. He's qualified as a Canadian citizen, right? And lord knows deep down he must know he hasn't a chance in hell to be elected president here.

Please....It's bad enough having Ford embarrass us. We certainly don't want another bozo running for political office here. The imbecile Cruz might have been born in a Canadian city but I believe he has spent most of his life in the U.S., the country where his political career was born and, anyway, isn't he currently trying to renounce his Canadian citizenship? We don't want him, you can have him, he's too weird for us.

He got an "honorable mention" on ABC news over his marrying teen girls remark, they even played a short clip and the anchor was shaking his head "no" when the camera came back to him.

Yeah, he's being persecuted by A and E. Begging to get canned so he can play the victim, ala "Joan of Wasilla"

It was interesting to watch the fools who "report" for "E News" last night. They were so delighted that A&E made peace with the Duck Dynasty guy; he's so important for the network, you know. Gee, he's even agreed to tone it down a little. Not one mention of the outrageous racist, bigoted, misogynist things he was spouting. Just, how nice that the network has decided to work with him. God, I dislike our adoration of fake celebrity.

    3. If I were A&E I'd say sure, you can leave with zero pay but we keep the name Duck Dynasty.

Then we'll see how Phil is going to market a new show with zero name recognition.

I'm sure Phil is only looking to increase that $200,000 per episode. Not gonna happen.

He's good for entertainment value. For a "Plus Size" Fella, he's pretty fast on his feet as he plows down that poor woman in his way.
Maybe we can offer him a boot camp in "Let's Move", doing drugs, stress and being obese isn't good for the heart, just saying!

7:35, I think you may be misunderestimating Mayor Rob's weight a bit.
    I put him at 22 1/2 stone.
But all is OK. He's been conferring with Chris Christie about lap band surgery. I expect him to start losing many of those extra stones anon.

EXACTLY! This photo of him, instantly brought back the memory of the guy who lived in a trailer, down by the river.

Its funny when on a comedy show...but its really pathetic that people are dumb enough to elect politicians who sound like escaped mental patients, time and time again.

Don't be too quick to assume that he will be re-elected. He has embarrassed Canadians with his antics and it's not going to be something that Toronto residents will forget anytime soon. I think I believe Toronto voters are going to have a change of mind once at the voting booths.

  17. Well, if they vote for him and he wins, they get what they deserve.

Always thought Canadians were smarter than that.
